What was difficult to find was a good, general beginner's guide for a reasonable price. With this book Elizabeth Ashley has solved my problem. A free encyclopaedia of essential oils to cover many purposes.
Ashley covers the history of aromatherapy, its uses by Greeks and Egyptians through to the present day. Details of the uses and risks of different essential oils are discussed, along with methods of abstraction.
Individual oils are desribed and lists of their use for treating various ailments given. There are also recipes for blending and ways to use in treatment or massage.
Using the advice in the book, I no longer have an annoying verruca. It took quite a while to go, but at a fraction of the cost of expensive chemical formulas that may not have worked.
I am not sure if I have read an out of date edition because much reference is made in the book to downloadable monographs for certain oils, but I found the provided links no longer work.
Overall one of the better free reference books I have downloaded for my Kindle and I will certainly consider the rest of "The Secret Healer" series.
