"I cherish and refer to [it] often because it is so thorough going and authoritative in its subject matter, and the recipes are uncommonly well written and authentic." --Craig Claiborne, author, "New York Times Cookbook"

The book itself is excellent--I've owned a hard copy for years and used it a great deal. It's falling apart and I wanted the ebook as a replacement. Unfortunately, it fails as an electronic recipe book due to having no index. Cross-referencing and indexes are essential for cookbooks. I would far rather have purchased a pdf version.
Looks okay but is missing a couple of vital things. A contents page and importantly pictures. So few pictures - how am I supposed to know what the meal should look like let alone be enticed to cook it. I am an average cook hoping to be inspired by delicious looking recipes. Now I don't know whether or not I will be inspired. Back to Pinterest.
An incredible Asian cooking guide, now I know why they call Charmaine Solomon the Queen of Asian Cooking. It has a massive number of top recipes as well as a lot of information about Asian cooking. The only thing that would have made it better was a recipe index there are so many recipes to go through to find the one you want, however it is set out by country. .I rave to everyone about this book and do believe if you like Asian food I greatly doubt there is a more informative recipe book with so many enticing recipes. Thank you Charmaine for sharing your knowledge and recipes in such a generously priced book.
when reading this book I didn't except to get a large section on Indian food aswell as China Japan and South East Asian. it is good quality and comprehensive
Brilliant one-stop Asian Cookbook. It may not cover every recipe you would like from every country but that would be too much to expect from one book. However, it gives a broad sample from many countries and a very large selection from India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka. Also heaps of useful cooking tips for various forms of Asian cuisine.

My mother had the previous edition of this, and it was my Asian cooking bible in the kitchen growing up. I recently moved out so I went hunting for another copy. Absolutely elated that it has been re-published with extra information - I was clearly not the only one who found this book invaluable! I now have this treasure on my countertop once again. I have never made anything from this book that has not turned out scrumptious - an easy boost for any cook! Thank you Charmaine Solomon!
I bought this book not expecting much, just a few asian recipes, but it's a whole encyclopedia of the recipes in the different countries of Asia. It's quite a heavy book with numerous chapters. So I'm very pleased with it and hoping to make good use of it very soon. Delivery was prompt as well, and the book arrived in excellent conditions.
Amazing clarity, beautifully written (for a cook book), not written by a TV chef visiting somewhere and then changing real recipes into 'my take on' or a 'twist on'. Detailed but not OTT accounts of the different cultures. Some thoughtful descriptions of how to some pronounce words (aimed I am sure for us Brits whose tongues do decide not to play ball with some words) . One of the nice touches is 'store' ingredients for each Country, you will quickly see that with a few tweaks here and there you can make many dishes from several countries without buying lots of specific ingredients that you may only use a teaspoon out of. Mostly its just a fantastic book! Buy it, enjoy it and use it. Other readers are right, if you want glossy photos on every page, this may not be for you but think twice before passing it over. I downloaded this, and am so glad I have. It is without doubt one of the best Asian cookbook I have come across.

Replaced this book for my son in law's Christmas gift. He had the original from many years ago. He is thrilled with the update of his favourite cooking book. I was extremely pleased that this version is a lovely hard back copy. Highly recommend the recipe content too.

The generations of my family who have purchased this book (literally 3 generations!) tells everything. I will say though that you need a LOT of ingredients to make these curries but they are v authentic and it covers cuisines from multiple countries. The photography is v outdated but the authenticity of the recipes makes up for it!
