Product description

Product Description

Alyssa lives her days hiding from the nightmares of her childhood, fearful of only one thing: being found. She no longer feels pain, for her soul has been numbed by the cruelties she endured.

Chris is empty on the inside, even though he portrays a facade of happiness to the outside world. He attempts to fill the void with women, sex, and music. In his lonely existence, nothing really matters . . . until he meets Alyssa.

When two dark souls collide, can the colors repair their broken souls, or will they surrender to the darkness of their broken pasts?

Colors is Book 2 in the Dragon Knights Series, which each rock star will receive their own story. This is a full-length novel and could be read as a stand-alone.

Due to explicit sexual content, this book is not intended for readers under the age of 18.

5.0 out of 5 stars Eating Crow For Dinner Tonight! 28 April 2016

That I have the "honor" to be the first paperback reader to review this astonishing book...well I don't know that I deserve this honor but I will try and do this masterpiece justice. I loved book one of Ms. Duran's "Dragon" series so I had really high expectations for the second in the series. I was beyond emotionally invested in the first two characters and I wanted assurance that they would appear in this book in some form. What did I do? I started bugging and nagging Gabbie of course. Do I have that kind of influence or power? Of course not! Did Ms. Duran respect her readers enough to take this into consideration...yes. This is a very important distinction that books you read by this mistress of writing does for us and we love her for respecting us this much. She manages to do all this without compromising her authority as the ruler and vision of her series. She clearly has a plan and what a plan it was. I "never" thought I would say this...crow is baking as we speak...but this book "might" be even better than the first one. Oh no...I didn't just say that...OK I did. Yes we knew some about our guy from book one. Just enough to peek our interest. Our gal...Holy Cow...was she a revelation. Both of these characters are incredibly deep and I could have read even more pages had she given me more. Both complex to the point where you find yourself "ugly" crying at times. Our gal could have taken on a very sappy dynamic but Ms. Duran rode that line like a pro. That she gave us everything we needed and more...I was exhausted at the end of this book. I was also smiling from ear to ear. This is a very emotional story and it is a story I also consider "essential". Most would steer clear of part of the story but she got right into the mix and went into the darkness. What did I find? A masterpiece...yes Ms. Duran...this book is your masterpiece. Let's just see what you do with book three. I better hold that thought as I "am" already eating crow for dinner tonight. You should be amazingly proud of this amazing story. You ticked every single box and more! denise bailey

5.0 out of 5 stars This is a very emotional book but well worth reading 25 March 2016

Wow this book is heartbreaking and beautiful at the same time. Alyssa has been through hell and back but has somehow survived. She blocked out the pain and suffering through her art. Then she meets Chris who turns her world upside down and shows her how to trust. Without giving anything else away I would highly recommend reading this book but it does contain dark scenes containing physical and sexual abuse, so if this is a trigger for anyone then I wouldn't read this book. But thank you Gabbie for writing about such a horrible topic and making more people aware of this type of abuse.

5.0 out of 5 stars 4.5 Fabulous Stars! 22 March 2016
By Books Laid Bare - Published on
Format: Kindle Edition
The second book in the series, I was delighted when I got my hands on this one, I’ve been looking forward seeing where the author was taking not just this story but the series as a whole.
But I will say right here and now, this an emotional book, there were aspects of Alyssa’s life that I really found distressing, she had been through so much that I just wanted to reach into the kindle and give her a hug.
Alyssa lives hand to mouth, but her crappy little apartment might not be much but it is a million times better than the time she spent on the street.
Doing everything she can to keep her merge roof over her head she is one disaster away from losing everything, little did she know that her disaster was just around the corner and it was called Chris Richardson.
Chris is the bass player for the Dragon Knights but when he is accidentally doused in coffee at Alyssa’s place of work, he is none too forgiving and the resulting furore leads to just one outcome…Alyssa gets fired.
Could life kick her anymore? She really is barely scraping by as it is but when she is mugged and her backpack stolen, it is the final straw, she has nothing left to lose and makes a decision that will leave it mark forever.
I wasn’t over armoured with Chris initially and even when he showed some semblance of remorse for the fact that she had lost her job, I still was struggling to actually get a feel for the real Chris, but when fate stirred things up a bit and brought the two of them together again, it was his chance to put his best foot forward and there was no chance that he could deny that there was something pulling him towards her. Letting her disappear from his life is not an option.
Alyssa has secrets that she is desperate to keep to herself but we have all read enough books to know that, that is just never going to happen but what the heck will be Chris’s reaction when he eventually gets the whole truth?
Well he did me proud, he stepped up to the plate and proved that hell would freeze over before he ever and I do mean ever let her go, from a confirmed bachelor to the perfect partner…a step too far, well no not for the right woman and Alyssa was his woman!
A cleverly written book, one that pitched a home run with Alyssa, she had everything going on and I from the get-go I had my fingers crossed that she was going to get her happy ever after, because if there was ever a woman that I wanted all that hearts and flowers s**t for it was her.
While I didn’t know if Chris was the man for the job, I have to say that …the man did good!!!
