Not up to Stabenow's usual standards and didn't grab me.

I have read many Dana Stabenow books and am a fan. But these short stories weren't, in my opinion, up to her usual standards and didn't grab me.

A brilliant collection!

As a fan of all of Dana Stabenow's writing, I had already purchased several of these short stories, but it was a great joy to get them all in one book. Whether featuring Liam Campbell, Kate Shugak, Star Svensdottir, her Mnemosynea "sword and sorcery" tales, or her equally fascinating straightforward Alaskan mysteries, every word is beautifully judged, and the quality of her writing is consistently high.
The book is worth more than the £2.99 I paid, and will lead any reader unfamiliar with her work into a whole new world of Alaska - and outer space!

If you haven't read Dana Stabenow before read this and get hooked. If you are a fan you don't need to read this review

I love Dana Stabenow and have fallen in love with Mutt (half wolf half dog. These short stories are a great fill in while waiting for the next full length book. I enjoyed the fantasy ones too. shame the last stories were from books I'd already read but if you haven't already encountered the characters Kate Shugak, Liam Campbell and Star Svensdotter this book could get you seriously hooked

Brilliant collection

Being a big-time Dana fan, this hit all the right spots for me. And what diversity of genres! The biggest plus for me was to get some more Kate Shugak stories, having recently finished Bad Blood, 20th in the series. more Kate tales, Dana, preserve. She beats Jack Reacher right into the ground, and never has there been a dog like Mutt. loved the sci-fi and the sword'n'sorcery stuff too.

I started reading Dana Stabenow's Kate Shugak stories and enjoyed them very much , and so bought the short stories, which not only filled in some back stories and gaps - the Grosdider brothers for example - but also gave a glimpse into other series and showed how versatile an author Dana Stabenow is.
