Addison Bowman is still grieving with the loss of her beloved husband to a drunk driver. I felt Addison's despair and sorrow. Now a year later, a year she has survived through the tenacity of her best friend Sia she’s got a golden opportunity to move into an apartment in the Muricio Building, an exclusive building and also a way to move from the home she shared with her husband – as it is time to try to move on with life right.
She keeps running into a man that just draws her in, he has a dangerous vibe, but he’s the most handsome man she has ever seen and leaves her a little breathless.
As the reader you could feel the aura of mystery and danger leaping from him. Over time we learn that Cole is the Leader of Carter Reed’s Mafia Family and Carter’s best friend. He’s just as lethal and just as deadly, just as protective and just as alpha.
Tijan does an excellent job through the suspense and chaos of lulling us into their love story as it develops, and as Cole shares little more of himself over time it became a pretty original and special read. I absolutely loved this story and these characters. Cole was dangerous and mysterious but at the same time considerate. Addison was kind and reserved, sad and broken yet still had a personality of steel. There were twists and turns you don’t expect and danger to leave you breathless.
If you are looking for a complex plot, strong leading characters, a fantastic romance and steamy scenes at its core then one click ‘Cole’. The intricacies of the connections in this book were unrivalled and I adored everything about it.
Wow, what a powerful, alluring and well-written book to start my Tijan experience! I particularly loved the rich and well-developed characters (including the secondary characters) and felt the plot was clever, balanced, tantalisingly unpacked, twisty and well-thought-out.
Commanding, mysterious mafia boss, Cole Mauricio, lived in a wealthy, cutthroat, violent, raw and brutally harsh criminal environment. He was also damaged, dark and pained. He knew the devastation of loss.
Beautiful Addison was a widow. She'd been left comfortably off, but post-Liam (her beloved husband) she was lost, dull, haunted and grieving. Now, she was starting to move forward and slowly feeling again. She moved away from her sad and troubled memories into an exclusive apartment - a new start. Then, all it took was a brief look and a momentarily exchanged glance. So, began Cole and Addison's deep connection - electric, conflict, passionate, protective, soulmates.
At first they danced around - Cole was straight forward and sophisticated (although he didn't reveal his identity) and she was 'feeling like a school girl' - all innocent, but wanting to take risks. It became an addiction. Then because of Cole's life, Addison was confronted by danger, ugliness, secrets and a vile world she neither understood or knew how to survive, yet surprisingly she found the courage. She brought love, serenity and positivity to their relationship and he reached into her heart like no one else ever had. The questions hung heavily over their heads though, including; how could they even hope for a slice of happiness when dealing with the mafia? There was the question of integrity. Who would/could step up to be the hero?
I highly recommend Cole to fans of contemporary Mafia Romance.
I hope Cole and Addy will be in Carter Reed 3, as i'd love to see more of their relationship together; but would also love to see more of the foursome - Carter, Emma, Cole and Addy.

Most of us met Cole in the Carter Reed series and fell in love with the head if the mafia there so much so our favourite author decided to give us a book all if his own.
I expected this book to be told mostly from Cole's pov and about his life as the king pin. What I got was a story about Addison a grieving widow who was struggling to move from a drunk driver killing Liam the live of her life.
Addison has been living in a depression since the accident and her bf Sia is trying to get her yo love on, get closer to the city get out of the house she and Liam shared. As fate would have it she also somehow manages to get her the tel number for the elusive new apartments that might just jump start her life.
This is where she meets the mysterious Cole fate has intervened again or has it? Has someone deliberately put her there is if for protection or to put her in harms way. Addison doesn't know who Cole is to begin with and chance meetings lead to a relationship but is it really a chance meeting or is it part of a game.
There are lies, secrets and off the charts chemistry in the book. Cole is a dangerous man you can't help but love him and be left wanting more.
Such a brilliantly written story, which kept me on my toes with all the twists, turns & revelations! The chemistry between Addison & Cole was undeniable. I liked that Cole had a fun side to him unlike Carter who is just very intense. He's not as hard as Carter either, he maybe the head of the Mauricio Family but there's definitely a more vulnerable side to him
The book ended all too quickly, I personally would have loved to have heard from Cole's pov more, particularly towards the end having his reaction & how he was feeling after what happened would have helped me with the ending.
I guess I was expecting this book to more about Cole & him leading the Mauricio Family but I'm really happy with the story we got!
Hoping this isn't the last we've heard from them both
Not the tantalising little read I was hoping for. The heat between Cole and Addison didn't simmer off the pages for me. Plus the tension and mystique that should have rippled off the pages, and had me eagerly reading, just did not materialise.
