This fantastic book, by Dr. Terry Martin and Diana Andersen, is destined to become the Cockatiel Bible. The cockatiel world is populated with hundreds people who will offer you advice about cockatiel mutations, but now, for the first time, you're going to get an authoritative and definitive presentation on the topic. This beautifully illustrated book has absolutely every cockatiel color mutation, and moreover it shows the ideal cross for mating each mutation. Some of it is quite technical, for instance in its depiction of DNA strands and the matched and unmatched pairs of genes. Take the time to understand how to read these diagrams and you will be rewarded with enhanced comprehension. It also includes everything you need to know to raise cockatiels, keeping them healthy, and treating common illnesses. If you are going to buy just one book on cockatiels, this is it. The book doesn't have an index, impairing its use as a quick reference. Perhaps a future edition will remedy this oversight.
