About the Author
Richard Horatio Edgar Wallace (1875 - 1932) was an English writer. Born into poverty as an illegitimate London child, Wallace left school at age 12. He joined the army at age 21 and was a war correspondent during the Second Boer War, for Reuters and the Daily Mail. Struggling with debt, he left South Africa, returned to London and began writing thrillers to raise income, publishing books including The Four Just Men (1905). Drawing on his time as a reporter in the Congo, covering the Belgian atrocities, Wallace serialized short stories in magazines such as The Windsor Magazine and later published collections such as Sanders of the River (1911). --This text refers to an alternate kindle_edition edition.

A ripping yarnReviewed in the United Kingdom on 2 August 2015
A whodunnit suitable for relaxing with on a beach holiday. I was fascinated by the social stereotypes that Wallace used: for example many foreigners were portrayed as rather shifty - in contrast of course to true Brits! This is not great literature - Wallace churned out stories - but I enjoyed it. It is certainly worth a dip.

Excellent well worth reading.Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 10 December 2015
I have read many fact and fiction crime and mystery stories. Authors include Arthur Conan Doyle,S.S.Van Dine, Joseph Smith Fletcher,Fergus Hume,William Magnay and Cleveland Moffett. All of those have written some amazing works but whenever i read a novel by Edgar Wallace i seem to think that i prefer his stories to any other in the crime genre. The Clue of the Twisted Candle excels.
