This is my first book by this author and I must say I was pleaseantly suprised. The story line flowed I did not hate this book i was just like OK definetly could see ow it was going to pan out from a mile away. I never had a A-HA moment more like it's about time. For me it took forever for the heroine to drop the zero and get with the obvious better choice. I was more interested in the sub plot of who her best friend was pregnant by now had it been by the finace' I may have given this 5 stars all in all this was a safe vacation read after it was all said and done with I was left wanting more of Malik and Mel relationship building storyline and how moving from roommates to lovers and how that would transpire.
S. Ray delivers AGAIN!Reviewed in the United States on 1 January 2013
I just finished reading Close Quarters and enjoyed it immensely! Shamara Ray's writing reminds me of a mix between T. McMillan and E. Lynn Harris. The characters were well-developed and as I became more engrossed in the story, it became clear who would become my favorites. Also, there are twists and turns as the story unfolds; not predictable in the least. The author does an excellent job of creating sexual tension between characters (STEAMY!!). Close Quarters is Ray's sophomore novel and already she's proving not to be a flash in the pan author. I look forward to reading more from Ms. Ray.
