The consiquences of power have caught up with Nadia and this book covers nicely the psychological effects on her character. The histes however must go on if she is to keep her brother alive. This was well paced with plenty of action. The rebels make for great villains, if a bit predictable but we've seen the same sort of excuses in the real world for centuries already so believability isn't lost. I'm looking forwards to the next one.

5.0 out of 5 stars Tentacle squid heist with seriously 25 March 2017

We get a Tentacle squid heist with napalm! Move over Danny Ocean, you sir are officially outclassed.

The book brilliantly picks up where Truth Chain left of. Our heroine has power, lots of it actually, probably making her the strongest human mage alive... and also totally broken and borderline insane. The ordeals from her last "adventure" if we can call it that still haunt her throughout most of this book, giving us a both complex and fascinating protagonist to follow. It is nice to have a heroine who is.... well human and not a perfect paragon of good and morality. With flaws that add to the overall immersion, like say...greed (should not be that surprising in a thief after all)

The story itself seems to be approaching the endgame phase of the series. We still get a great self contained story arc - Nadia must work with and for her old Rebel Nemesis this time around, which sparks some very interesting interactions. At the same time however, this is the first of three heists she has been commanded to do for her enemies by her elven boss.. So I guess this makes the book: Rebel Heist: Episode I - Evil squids from outer space
4.0 out of 5 stars Good read! 19 April 2017

I really like this author, though I wish he'd have it proofread a bit better. Some grammatical things here & there - you can kinda tell that it is the writing thought process, like he changed a sentence, but didn't quite backspace enough, or left a word or two out.
If you are reading this series first, you should definitely check out his "Ghost" series. It's great, and if you're a voracious reader like me - there are nearly 20 books and several short stories.
Very interesting alternative history type story. Badass female heroine, magic, danger, vengeance, and some tragic love in the mix.
5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic In Every Way 16 March 2017

Nadia's character development at the beginning of this book brilliantly describes the ramifications of having spent more than a century in the Eternity Crucible in the last book (Truth Chain). It's then followed by an amazing mix of intense plot and character interactions and wild action and magic.

I loved all the other books so far and I found that this one was even better!

Excellent addition to the series. The ongoing character development of Nadia Moran after the events of Truth Chain was incredibly well written. I read her chapter with Lotd Morvilind 3 times already. Can't wait for the next one.
