Product Description

In 2013, a gate to another world opened, and Elves used their magic to conquer Earth, crushing all resistance before them.

Three hundred years after the Conquest, the exiled Elven High Queen rules an orderly but stagnant Earth, with humanity forced to fight in the High Queen’s war against the traitors on the Elven homeworld.

Nadia Moran doesn’t care about that. She doesn’t care about the High Queen, or the Rebels seeking to overthrow her. All she cares about is getting her baby brother the treatments he needs to recover from his potentially fatal disease…and those treatments have a steep price.

Fortunately, Nadia has magic of her own, and she’s a very, very good thief.

Unfortunately, the powerful Elven lord Morvilind has a hold on Nadia. If she doesn’t follow his commands, her brother is going to die.

Of course, given how dangerous Morvilind’s missions are, Nadia might not live long enough to see her brother’s death…

I thoroughly enjoyed the first five books (books 1-3 being slightly better than 4&5).
There is a lot of action, humour, a very capable female lead - who is far from perfect, and an interesting love interest.
Basically, she is blackmailed and trained to be a thief. She struggles to be a good person (although she does not believe herself to be one), who is sometimes forced do bad things in order to protect her brother. As the series progresses, we see her slowly and unwittingly build a network of allies, which is needed as her 'jobs' get progressively more dangerous,
Oh yeah, elves, monsters and rebel terrorists abound - none of whom seem to appeciate our heroine.
I have just finished book 5 and it looks like a major plot twist is a about to happen, so I am keenly awaiting Truth Chain to be released.

My first regret is that this was only 175 pages long and the second is that the next book isn't due until the end of 2015. Apart from that I couldn't stop reading it once I started. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Can't wait for the sequel.

I enjoyed the first three books in the series and will definitely read the next when it comes out. While the main character is not always totally likeable, she is strong, smart, and inventive. the story is unique and her life and ways of getting out of tricky situations kept me interested (even if sometimes those ways involved a bit too much luck or fortuitous timing...). I recommend them to anyone looking for a high adventure story with a strong female character.

Really great story, one that kept my attention and imagination going from first to last. Awesome characters and fun to read. This whole series has definitely got me reading more and more. Thanks Jonathan, you're an awesome author and I truly look forward to reading everything you write.
3.0 out of 5 stars I really liked the idea behind this world 19 July 2017

I really liked the idea behind this world: elves coming from another dimension and conquering Earth. There were some things I saw as inconsistencies that bothered me a bit. Foremost among these was that the novel was set 300+ years in the future, but the technology level remained exactly where it is today. This annoyed me, and I had to make a mental note to ignore any mention of time. The plot was a bit simple and standard. That said, the writing itself was fairly engaging and I read the book straight through. I am not inclined to purchase other books in the series, but I'm not sorry I spent time reading this one.

A nice story blending elves dark forces and modern times. The story is compelling and the characters well developed. Good stuff if you like Michael Moorcock type settings

Keeps your interest throughout. Author leaves you wanting more. The magic is well defined as well as the hierarchy or characters
