Look, it has been clear to all fans of the late great Tom Clancy that since Dead or Alive there has been a change to the writing, Clancy clearly was only plotting the story and character arcs with Grant Blackwood, Mark Greaney, Mike Maden and Marc Cameron actually writing the main novels. I have enjoyed them despite the differences in prose and pacing.
Point of Contact is still a good techno-thriller based on Jack Ryan Jr. as he helps to stop the Asian stock market from collapsing due to a plot by North Korea.

Maybe I'm biased because the primary setting is my birthplace (eons ago), but the storyline is a what-if scenario that can easily happen.

High speed chases on the streets of law-abiding Singapore, add a generous bashing of monsoon rains and humungous waves stirred up a typhoon of the century ....

Storyline was just ok, but turning Jack Ryan Jr into a James Bond type figure is not ok. He is a much more sofisticated and thinking character in previous books. This book started well with Jack questioning his abilities, but as the story continued the disciple of his character disappears. Not a good "Tom Clancy" nove,, even he would be disappointed.
