The struggle is about getting to a place where you can live together, the illness and you. Trying to make the most of the environment you share, an attempt to make it a positive life.
This book is a collection of experiences I have faced living with a chronic illness. Lessons I am still learning from and having to deal with every day. It is like living in no man's land, somewhere between feeling ill and feeling healthy, but not really being healthy or sick. I hope, by sharing my experience, I can help others with their journey. Help people to deal with their chronic illness or give some tools to help make some sense of living with a chronic condition.
Note: several sections of the book talk about the U.K. health system NHS.

Being a Chronic Illness sufferer myself I found much to concur with and validate my own experiences.
I loved the book and would recommend it to anyone with a long term condition. Health care professionals should also read this book as it gives a realistic view of the lived experience of a Chronic Illness. Jane Edwards’ thoughts on the NHS care professionals at the end of the book are a harrowing but accurate description.
I highly commend Jane for having the courage and valediction to put her experience into this book.
And like Dory I will “keep on swimming, keep on swimming “!
You don’t have to have the exact same disease as Jane to find this a worthwhile read as it is a wider read than that.
Right - I’m going to finish it now. Was so overwhelmed by reading this I had to review it straight away.
The writer has a lovely way of explaining her journey in a way other sufferers can identify with.
I bought an ebook and after reading bought a hard copy for my family to read too - lots of things in there i have not been able to voice and hopefully when they read it, it will open pathways to conversations and help my own mental health
Thanks Jane and warmest wishes to you on your health journey.
Edit: having read this a couple of times, I would say it’s essential reading for people with chronic illnesses AND anyone who intersects; family, friends, healthcare professionals, charities and government. It is a rare insight not into the clinical impact of a rare chronic illness but into the personal, social, professional and human impact on someone’s life.
Read this book. Then read it again.
