Christmas at Thunder Horse Ranch (Harlequin Intrigue Book 1525) Kindle Edition
About the Author
I've always dreamed of a writing career ever since I won a national short story contest in high school. Little did I know the delight and fulfilment I would experience writing over twenty novels for Harlequin. The love of romance, it seems, has been at the core of my life. It's shaped everything I do–from my choice of career to my choice of mate. My husband, also a writer, shares my love of travel, old houses, wildlife photography, American history–and, of course, romance.--This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

Note: Stands alone read. 4th book in the Thunder Horse series.
GOOD READ. Well written, suspenseful storyline, great characters, a strong family theme, deadly bad guy(s), a sweet romance, and an exciting and satisfactory ending. HOWEVER, there are a few minor inconsistencies and plot threads left hanging, it does not answer the question running throughout the series -- what happened to the family patriarch, and while thrilling, the ending loses a little continuity, but this detracts little from the storyline.
THE STORY follows ex military, now CBP helicopter pilot, Dante Thunder Horse, and socially awkward, paleontology professor, Emma Jennings. Years earlier, Dante and Emma met in class but Dante was still grieving his deceased fiancée, Sam, killed during their tour in Afghanistan.
As the story opens, someone shoots down Dante's chopper, and Emma, working nearby, rescues him before the shooter can finish him off. After additional attempts on their lives, they return to Thunder Horse Ranch only to learn his brothers, Tuck and Pierce were injured in a highway "accident." Someone is targeting the Thunder Horse brothers, and until they can figure out why, Dante wants his family close and Emma closer. Working together to survive one life threatening attempt after another, Dante comes to admire Emma's spirit and her smarts, and he finally understands that loving Emma and wanting a future with her, does not diminish his feelings for Sam.
OVERALL, an exciting read, suspenseful storyline about a strong family. The THUNDER HORSE series includes: Hostage to Thunder Horse, Thunder Horse Heritage, Thunder Horse Redemption, and Christmas at Thunder Horse Ranch.
You may also enjoy the complex characters and storytelling of N. Bruhns, A. Stuart, and E. Palfrey. For good mystery/detective writers try J. D. Robb, D. Stabenow, S. Grafton, Julie Miller, or Gayle Wilson.
The book started out with Dante's Border Patrol helicopter being shot down. Emma was working nearby when she heard the chopper go down. She raced to the crash sight on her snow Mobile. When she got there, she realized that someone was shooting at the helicopter. She didn't have a gun or anything for protection. So, she raced right at the man, slamming into his snow mobile with hers. He turned around and left.
The suspense of the story was good. Someone was targeting Dante's family. The family pulled together. I loved how the guys wanted to ship all the lady's off to protect them. The lady's stood firm and refused to go. The mom of the family said she could shoot just as good as any of her sons could. I loved her! The ending made me hold my breath. It was intense. This was a really good book!
