This is a wonderfully whimsical and festive tale. It’s both a fairy story set in steampunk land, and a morality tale told with the lightest of touches. We meet the kindly and upright Kingsley Radcliffe who is set a mystery quest. We follow his journey to solve the conundrum and meet his friends and neighbours along the way.
It’s really easy to root for Kingsley and to want him to succeed. Without spoiling the story, it’s fair to say that our hero makes his preparations for a traditional Christmas, whilst also following the trail laid by a secret well wisher.
The cast of characters is varied and colourful and my personal favourite has to be Droolius, the wheeled dog.
It’s a really charming tale, and a recommended festive read.

A great for the holiday season!
Reviewed in the United States on 28 December 2017Verified Purchase
This read was great for the holiday season. I found myself curled up with a blanket and cup of tea, reading with a smile at the heartwarming prose. The steampunk setting was wonderfully realized by North, and her characters were charming. When they set out on a mysterious quest,, I found myself joining in to solve the conundrum.
My only small complaint was that I wanted a bit more conflict. I understand that this tale is not of the variety to nurture any great conflict, but just a bit early on would have helped me invest in the main character. That is just me of course. Many will not feel that way, and I think most will genuinely enjoy this heartwarming story from start to finish.
