4.0 out of 5 stars Nice, Sweet Christmas Stories 25 November 2015

I have received a copy of these stories in exchange for an honest review.

The Christmas Catch -
The main woman is a single mom named Christine who has lost the belief in Christmas after passed away leaving her to raise their young son alone. Her friend tells her to take time off and take her son Tyler to Vermont for the holiday and try to recharge her batteries. While she and Tyler are in Vermont she meets John and both Christine and John get more than they bargained for.

I found The Christmas Catch to be a wonderful Christmas story with some heartache and dreams. It was a nice read.

The Holiday Bride-
Lucy was a waitress engaged to a man who really had no time for her or anything else in his life so when she falls and gets amnesia is it any wonder she was in no hurry to find him or anything to do with her old life? It just happened to be that the family that she “
woke up to” had a little girl who had wished for a mommy for Christmas and well, the rest was Christmas Magic.

The Holiday Bride was a bit suspenseful since Lucy had developed amnesia and had no clue who she really was. It had enough love and heartache too to keep you wanting everything to work out in the end.

Mistletoe In Maine -
A single, divorced mom working too hard to make up for a father who never keeps his promise of being there and the fact that money is a problem for the holidays, somehow tells her 2 kids that they will be going to a lodge in Maine for the holidays. Luckily for her it not only works out that they enjoyed their stay, her daughter sees the moose shes after, but the mom falls in love while shes there!

Mistletoe In Maine is one of those Christmas stories that gives divorced moms the hope that there is love out there again.

Beach Blanket Santa -
Two people with a past end up at the same cabin on the coast for one stormy Christmas week. Since theres no way off the coast but the ferry (and its down until further notice) what are they to do but actually get to know one another this time? Will they actually learn that they can't live without one another or when the ferry is usable again will one leave the other behind for good this time?

Baby, Be Mine -
A will stating that you have to get married within 2 months, what do you do? Help your best friend that you've been in love with since you were kids find a husband is the most logical choice right? Follow the story as Jack helps Nikki find a match so that she can collect the money from her Aunt's will based on the 2 stipulations put in there. Will Nikki ever realize though that Jack has been in love with her from the start?
4.0 out of 5 stars Christmas Fun 7 November 2015

The Holiday Brides have been released over the last few years. Cute, light, HEA. This is a collection of five of those past holiday brides. It certainly has something for everyone. There's a widow, single mother, second chance love, unrequited love, etc. They are all novellas, about 100 pages each.

My personal favorite is Baby, Be Mine. I loved that it was a little twist on unrequited love. I like the characters so much in this novella. Each added their own dimension. Nicki and Jack are fun together. I especially love the epilogue on this one. Individually it would get 5 Stars. My overall rating is combining the score of all of the stories.

Rating: 3.5
Content: PG-13, quite a bit of innuendo and lusting, mild language, no violence, all fade to black or behind door relationships.

5.0 out of 5 stars Christmas Magic and Delights from Ginny! 4 November 2015
By Western Reader - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition
This delightful compilation of five of Ginny’s writings is just the ticket to get one in the mood for Christmas, romance, and all things magical. From the first page to the last, I was entertained, intrigued, and completely satisfied. Each story includes characters that are believable, even the ones who might not be as likeable as one would want (after all, a good tale needs at least one not-so-wonderful character to round out the picture, so to speak).

Of the five, my favorite for hilarity has to be the second tale – ‘The Holiday Bride’. This one had me laughing out loud, and I would not have been at all surprised if the Keystone Kops had shown up ... it’s a slapstick comedy that begs to be turned into a made-for-TV movie.

My favorite for romance? That has to be book number four – ‘Beach Blanket Santa’. Sweet and romantic and so very lovely in its conclusion (book number five is a close runner-up ... clever plot and a rooted-for HEA).

I recommend this collection to all those who want to have a good read. I was provided an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
4.0 out of 5 stars A Great Collection of Heartwarming Stories 12 November 2015

Note - I was given a complimentary copy for an honest review. My rating is based on the average of my individual ratings per book.

Book 1, The Christmas Catch

Christine is doing her best trying to juggle her work and her life as a single mother. She didn't plan to be a single mother, only the death of her husband changed things. But, as her friend, Ellen, points out, she needs a break to reconnect with her son, Tyler. So, when Ellen offers to send them to Vermont for a couple of weeks, she agrees. However, when Ellen suggests that she try finding another man, she rejects the idea on the basis that you just don't find love like she had with her husband a second time around.

John doesn't think he needs a woman in his life. He's got a demanding career as a college professor that's only going to increase with responsibility if he gets the promotion. Plus, he's got his faithful dog, Mason, as a companion.

So, when Christine nearly collides with John on a snowy road in Vermont, neither one want to recognize the chemistry that sparks between them. Will Christine warm to the idea of dating and marriage again? Will John remove the walls around his heart and consider marriage at all? What about the fact that Christine is only in Vermont for a couple of weeks?

What follows is a sweet, gentle romance where 2 lonely people wake up to the fact that they are lonely.

One bonus to the book is the secondary story of Ellen and her adventures.

Romance - PG - some mild innuendos.
Language - PG
Conflict - mild

My rating - 4.5 stars

Book 2, The Holiday Bride

This story brings has a slight element of the paranormal.

Lucy is a hardworking waitress, engaged to a workaholic realtor, Mitch. On Christmas Eve, when Mitch cancels on her, she agrees to deliver some packages for him. On her way, she slips and falls, hitting her head. The next morning, when she awakes, she has no idea where she is or who she is!

William is a widowed father of 2. After losing his wife he devoted himself to his children, ignoring his own needs. He thinks he's doing a decent job until Christmas morning when he realizes that the gift his daughter had asked for was a new mommy. And, much to his amazement, there's a woman asleep on his sofa!

What follows is a quirky tale that is lighthearted and whimsical. Set aside your cares and believe in Santa and the magic of Christmas for a few minutes. Follow as Lucy unravels the mystery of how she came to be in William's house. Then, learn what happens when she finally remembers everything. Will she remain with William and his family? Will she return and marry Mitch?

There are a few scenes that I must admit are just silly, but whatever, not everything has to be so serious.

However, there are a couple of issues that I take exception to - I don't like the use of profanity which popped up twice and I question the freedom allowed William's son and the Internet. The language really popped out at me because the author normally doesn't use that language in her books.

Romance - PG - some innuendos
Language - PG13 - due to the uses of profanity.
Conflict - mild

My rating - 3 stars.

Book 3, Mistletoe in Maine

This is actually one of the first Ginny Baird book I read and I credit it with keeping up with her as an author over time. It's a tale of overcoming emotional hurts and moving on in life.

Carol has a lot to complain about, but she tries to make the best of things in front of her kids. However, when her ex decides that his new woman is more important than his kids, she decides to make it up to them by taking a vacation to Maine.

Paul is tired of keeping up the inn that he and his late wife helped build. Now that his son is about to head to college, he's not sure that he wants to stay around with the memories.

However, when Carol arrives with her children, will Paul allow himself to be interested? Can Carol believe in love again after the pain she's suffered with the divorce? What about the children?

What I like most about the book is that the Paul and Carol take the time to get to know each other and form a real relationship. They maintain balance and take things at a realistic pace. Yes, there's a quick attraction, but they show maturity in working through that attraction.

Romance - PG
Language - PG

My rating - 5 stars

Book 4, Beach Blanket Santa

This is a second chance story.

Matt is done with women. He can't seem to find one that will stick around.
Sarah is convinced men don't want her - at least not long term. She's convinced that she's got too many problems and once the man finds out, he's gone.

6 years prior, Matt and Sarah met. Sarah believes that Matt walked away from her. Matt remembers that he was told to leave. Fast forward and each turn up at an isolated beach house. However, before either can leave, a massive storm blows through - eliminating any chance of leaving.

Can the two of them find the truth of what happened 6 years ago? Can Sarah trust Matt to not reject her when he learns the truth? Is she strong enough to tell him?

The story really centers around Sarah and her personal character development. Matt is a sweetheart and it was difficult reading that she might not even give him a chance, but considering the way she had been treated, I can sort of understand her hesitation to expose herself again.

In the end, I found the conclusion satisfying and appreciated the inclusion of an epilogue.

Romance - PG
Language - PG

Book 5, Baby, Be Mine

I enjoyed this story - even if Nikki, the main female character, is a bit frustrating with her tunnel vision regarding Jack, her best friend of all time.

Jack is always there for Nikki - he'll do anything for her. Yet, he can't seem to convince her to take their relationship to a deeper level.

Nikki has just learned that her great-aunt Mallory bequeathed her dairy farm to her - but 2 conditions must be met before she gets anything. First, she must be married by Valentine's Day and second, she must have a baby in a year.

This sets off all sorts of escapades that Nikki and Jack embark on because she can't seem to see Jack in a romantic way. Will she find a husband in time? What about Jack? Can he convince her to consider him as a possible suitor?

It's a fun read with some crazy moments. I really hurt for Jack a few times, but I truly applauded him in the end. That particular scene was great.

I'm also glad to say that there's an epilogue to wrap everything up nicely.

4.0 out of 5 stars Delightful, fun, and light 13 November 2015
By M. Roberts - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition
These five novellas are delightful, fun, and light. All are happy ending romances that end with finding your true love. All five occur in different places and none are related except for the common theme of love being before your very eyes, whether you just met, or whether you have known each other for a long time. It could be with your best friend, or with a stranger on your sofa, or on a snow filled Christmas vacation with skiing and horse-drawn sleigh rides, or seeing each other for the second time after a few years. My favorite was Beach Blanket Santa, as I have a special place in my heart for the Outer Banks and the beach. I loved how this love story comes together, where the man and the woman end up spending a week at the same beach house at the same time, and the stormy weather keeps them there beyond Christmas. Christmas is a magical time that comes with many surprises, including love and family. Each of these novellas will warm your heart. [I received this book in exchange for an honest assessment.]
