Product Description

From the author of The Billionaire’s Secrets, Midnight in Venice and Falling for Rain, a heartfelt, witty and heartwarming short story for the holiday season, set in one of Europe's most enchanting cities…

Inspired by the beauty depicted in the movie In Bruges, Paula decides to spend Christmas by herself in the gorgeous Belgian canal city. One evening at a cozy bistro, she is very pleasantly surprised to meet her old college boyfriend and very first love, James. As they walk through the snowy streets, they laugh at their younger selves and ponder the unexpected course their lives have taken over the past nine years. Paula, a promising actress, became a teacher, while James abandoned medical school to serve as a medic in Afghanistan. But as Christmas Day approaches, James's painful war memories threaten their rekindled love.

This was a beautifully written love story about Paula and James accidentally finding each other again in Bruges at christmas after being apart for nine years. The story tugged at my heart and was quite sad at times, but everything worked out for a happy ending. It was full of laughs and tears and makes for an enjoyable read on a lazy day. I will definitely be reading more by this author.

5.0 out of 5 stars Short and sweet romantic read 1 December 2013

The story is short and sweet, yet still manages to touch on the complications of a romantic relationship. Torn different ways, nine years ago, former lovers are reunited in Bruges during a chance encounter. Determined not to let him go again, she fights for him realizing she'd rather be with him than without matter what his past brings to the present.

3.0 out of 5 stars Sweet story 1 December 2013

Nice to see a piece that includes the experience of a recent vet and the issue of PTSD. The characters weren't terribly well-developed (it is a short, after all), but the ambiance hit just the right note. Loved the references to the movie - funny to think of the locals' perspective!

This story had well-desrcipted scenes which is a trademark of the author. She has the ability to make one feel they are right in the scene with the characters. This was a short, cute read about two former college sweethearts would happen to find each other after several years.

A great, quick uplifting short story. Hoping there's a longer novel to follow. Meadow Taylor's other novels are fun to read! Check out The Billionaire's Secret, Christmas in Venice and Falling for Rain...all great novels.
