Choices and Changes
An All Cocks story, book 7

There comes a time in every man’s life where he has to make a choice between what is right and what is easy.

Born and raised in Fort Worth Texas by open-minded parents, Dean Anderson realized early in life he was attracted to both sexes. Equal opportunity, he picked his lovers based on personality and common interests. He met Maggie in college, fell in love, got married and started a family. And they were happy…until they weren’t.

Adam Chase’s mother is South African, his father American military working at the US Embassy in Pretoria, South Africa. His parents’ positions in the South African and American governments awarded Adam dual citizenship, and he attended University in America, at Berkley. In America, Adam is lives openly as a gay man, something that could get him killed in his mother’s home country. He met his husband, Patrick Carter, at college and they too were happy…until Patrick died.

Two lives converge, and it would seem fate is giving them each a second chance at happiness, together. Dean stays in New York and moves into the apartment his son, Dusty, shares with his boyfriend David. He and Adam are quickly welcomed into All Cocks’ vastly growing family. And then one phone call changes everything.

The men of All Cocks learn that death is just another part of life, a road everyone travels eventually. Choices are made, decisions that change their lives irrevocably. They rally together, drawing strength from each other as their close-knit family experiences the best and worst life has to offer. But that’s what families do, right?

This is Book 7 in T.M. Smith's All Cocks Stories series. Listen, these books really need to be read in the appropriate order to really understand this story. The All Cocks series has a lot of characters, and they all make an appearance in this story. I've read and listened to the books in this series multiple times, and it's still a lot for me to keep up with everyone. I couldn't imagine the difficulty if you just decided to jump in with this one. And every story in this series is enjoyable and many will bring tears. An example of how these stories connect, Dean Anderson (MC#1) is the father of Dusty who works for All Cocks and Dusty's story was Book 6; Adam Chase (MC#2) is the Doctor of Beau who is partnered with Will, a former All Cocks employee and their story was Book 5. See where I'm going with this?

I knew a little about both of these MCs going into this book and was really looking forward to their story! They're both likable, sweet guys that you want to see find happiness. Nothing in this story changed that feeling. I learned a little more about them and saw how much they cared for each other and all of their friends and family. I loved seeing how their life was coming together, and how their relationship built so quickly. These are two men who both were married previously, they're adults that have no interest in playing games. They know what they want in life and are willing to work to get it. All of these characteristics are some of my favorite reasons to read books with "older" MCs.

What I was a little disappointed about was that this felt less like their love story and more a collection of stories about everyone involved in the All Cocks family. They were overshadowed by the everyday lives of everyone else, and then even more so by the tragedy that was written. I felt like I knew what was going to happen in this tragedy, and I hoped I was wrong, but sadly I was not. And yes, regardless of how I felt about this tragedy, I still cried when it happened because the author can wring a tear from a turnip with her writing, but I still didn't like it!

In the end, Dean and Adam found happiness, a house big enough for their boys and close to their new family. The many other characters in this story found happiness in their situations, except for the poor people affected by the tragedy, of course. This was another great addition to the All Cock Stories and we have plenty to look forward to!

4.0 out of 5 stars A more mature couple than usual. Strong, emotional addition to the series. 23 April 2017

Two men, a little older than most couples in this series. The Same beautiful cover style that uniquely screams of the amazing talent that is Jay Aheer of Simply Defined Art. The synopsis sounds like this one is going to be another gut-puncher. Preparing for an emotional roller coaster!

> > Looking Deeper < <
POV ~> Third person

The seventh book in the series brings the entire cast back to support Adam and Dean so that their story may be told. Dean is Dusty's dad. Adam is Beau's doctor. Both were married, one widowed after ten years, the other divorced after much longer. Now in or near the 50-yr mark, they have the chance at love once again.
The chemistry between them was immediate and often entertaining. Dialogue and interaction were strong and suitable for the given situations. The plot was dynamic and had several secondary things happening in the background. There is a tragic twist, so be prepared if you are a more sensitive reader and/or crier. Some new characters were added on top of the entire All Cocks cast. There were a few conflicts that were managed maturely and in a timely manner. Predictability was low. The conclusion was solid and satisfying. Adam and Dean are given their HEA and many others also find additional happiness.
Overall, I'd strongly suggest reading this series from the beginning. Too many sub-plots would be deprived their true depth if you've not read the previous books. This is a strong edition to the series and one you'll not want to miss.

5.0 out of 5 stars “And now fate stood at the foot of the bed they shared, offering them another chance at love…” 23 April 2017
By Lisa1269 - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition
I loved Dean and Adam’s story, every single page of this book evoked some sort of emotion in me, making me smile and sigh from the warmth that flows between the entire cast of characters and mourn for their suffering when they must endure some harsh realities.
The attraction between Dean and Adam is immediate and intense but the chemistry between them isn’t strictly physical as they realize their connection is a gift to be treasured. With flirty banter that is playful and engaging, I loved that these characters had the wisdom that comes with age and experience without being weighed down by their respective histories. As with the rest of the characters in this entire series, there’s a clear and distinct notion that while we are influenced by our history, it’s possible to live without being defined by it, which is exactly what we see Dean and Adam do as they negotiate their new relationship. When tragedy unexpectedly strikes, their bond never wavers as they struggle with the burden of it and there is always a clear awareness of the strength that they pull from each other. This seventh book in the series is an uplifting testament to the strength of love and the power of family, with all of our favourite characters once again rallying to provide each other with unconditional support and encouragement.
Please note that I voluntarily reviewed an advance copy of this book.

Stories that feature young singles and couples in their twenties and even thirties are what make up the bulk of what I usually read—primarily because that is the age range where the majority of romance stories are concentrated. So, when a story comes along that centers on older characters in their mid to late forties or thereabouts, it always piques my interest—particularly as I get older myself. The fact that Choices and Changes is part of the All Cocks Stories series that I already love is just icing on the cake. Author TM Smith didn’t let me down with this installment of the series, and Adam and Dean fit very easily into the All Cocks family.

While this story is not a second chance romance in the traditional sense where the main characters were together early on, split and got back together again, it’s more like each man gets a second chance at romance-and another happily ever after-with someone new after experiencing love the first time around with someone else and losing it for one reason or another. What the two of them have learned from their first loves made it feel like this time—with Adam and Dean—was comfortable, easily intimate, and full of much deeper feeling now that they have known love previously. It seemed like it was so easy and natural for the two of them to slip so quickly into their relationship as if it was meant to be.

The physical intimacy between Dean and Adam is incredibly intense, passionate and oh so very HOT. The two of them coming together-not just physically, but emotionally as well, seemed as simple and right as if they had always been together. I do love a good angst-ridden story, but when two people come together so easily like Adam and Dean—it feels more like fate which to me is just as alluring. That doesn’t mean there isn’t any drama or turmoil in this story…you will find that, and the cause is upsetting…but it does serve to draw not just Adam and Dean closer, but the entire All Cocks family.

I really enjoyed Dean and Adam’s story, as well as visiting again with all of the other characters from the series. They all really are one big, wonderful family and I love to see them grow with each book that comes out. Choices and Changes was a 4.5-star read for me, and Adam and Dean hold a special place in my heart simply because I can relate quite easily to them due to their ages. While you might be able to read this on its own, I strongly recommend reading all of the stories in order as they continue to build on events in the past books—it really will heighten your enjoyment of the story to read them all in the order they are listed. As with the other books, this one is meant for readers 18+ for adult language and M/M sexual content.
