Your eyes meet mine, then retreat
Softness behind glass
Let me break your barriers

The poem on the blackboard enticed her to enter. Just like everyday…

Writer, Beth, visits the same café every afternoon, enjoying her latte and a chocolate truffle while scribbling in her notebook. The delicious treats keep her coming back day after day, not to mention the inspiration she finds there – Samuel. The barista is tall, dark and delicious, and his stare could melt chocolate from a hundred paces.

Since her divorce, Beth’s love life has been close to extinct, but the sight of Samuel, his dark, brooding good looks and amazing dragon tattoo, kick it into overdrive. A smouldering volcano waiting to erupt in flames of passion. But Beth knows it’s unlikely he’d go for her, an older woman, when he could have anyone.

Over the course of a week, the tension between them rises almost to boiling point. When Beth’s friend lets it slip that Beth fancies Samuel, in fact she has a mega crush on him, their customer/barista relationship is tested…but could it be more than one-sided? Is Samuel writing the blackboard poems especially for Beth? Could he be watching and wanting her too?

Note: Chocolate Truffle Kiss is a novelette of approximately 9500 words. This edition also contains an excerpt of Cassandra O'Leary's debut novel, Girl on a Plane.

5.0 out of 5 stars coffee romance in Australia's coffee capital 23 November 2016
By CB Mako - Published on
Format: Kindle Edition Verified Purchase
This is the most adorable romance novella of my home city of Melbourne, with our rich cafe culture. Our love for lattes and writing (Melbourne is also city of Literature). And at 2016, Melbourne is also Most Livable City in the world sixth year in a row.

And in honour of GQ's Man of Year this year, who is also Australian, I imagined author Cassandra's Samuel as Chris Hemsworth looking like Kevin in Ghostbusters ;D

5.0 out of 5 stars Coffee, Truffles & Kisses 6 December 2016

Voluntarily read for an ARC review

Chocolate Truffle Kiss is about Beth a 38 year old, divorced woman that has a strong attraction to Samuel a barista at her favorite coffee shop. He appears to be quite a bit younger than her but she can't stop thinking about him. He's there everyday when she goes in and he always gives her a chocolate truffle to go with her coffee.
There is a blackboard in the coffee shop that someone writes a new short poem on each day. Beth likes the poems very much and likes to imagine they are sweet messages from Samuel to her.
She catches him looking at her a few times but isn't sure if the attraction is reciprocated or not. She overhears a phone conversation he has and assumes he has a girlfriend.
One day he stops at her table to talk to her, sharing that he broke up with his girlfriend and she starts to think that he likes her too. She later decides she's going to let him know how she feels about him and ask him out.
Sweet, sexy romance by Cassandra O'Leary that I enjoyed immensely. First book of hers I've read but definitely won't be the last!!

5.0 out of 5 stars A delightful book with an HEA. 23 January 2017

What a cute book. I love coffee, so I love that it takes place in a coffee shop. Beth's friends want her to get back into the dating world but she only has eyes for the hunky barista at her favorite coffee shop. She thinks he is too young for her and doesn't even know if heikes her back. A must read!

5.0 out of 5 stars Sweet Lovely Story!!! 8 December 2016
By Emily Pennington - Published on
Format: Kindle Edition
Beth read the lovely poem on the blackboard as she entered the café. She was infatuated by the handsome barista, Samuel. She imagined he wrote those poetic lines just for her. Too bad he was 10-15 years younger and unavailable to her. She sat down to her writing as Samuel delivered her latte with a heart design on top and a chocolate truffle on the side to enjoy on her half hour break.

Beth met with her friend, Jenny, at the café. Jenny wanted to kickstart Beth’s love life again since her divorce a year ago. Jenny looked at Samuel and announced in a loud voice that he was hot and he obviously wanted Beth. Beth was embarrassed. As they talked, it seemed like she and Jenny, with her condescending attitude, had little in common anymore.

Each day Beth goes back to the café to read the beautiful poetry and have her special latte. She has a big crush on Samuel and enjoys her interaction with him, even though it leaves her breathless. She imagines the poems are written just for her and she daydreams about the possibilities. Can she trust in herself enough to open up to this special man and give them a chance?

This was a really nice story about relationship and deepening friendship. It was well written and the characters were well developed. It was such a comfortable story that played out day by day and drew the reader in. I definitely recommend it! I was given a free copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it. My comments reflect my honest opinion.
3.0 out of 5 stars Too short. 14 December 2016

Format: Kindle Edition
3-3.5 for this one. This is a very short sweet read. Sexy barista has the hots for older woman, they say a few words to each other every day for months, then all of a sudden they have a date and wake up in love, very little chemistry or steam for my liking, not my type of book.. recommended for a light quick fun read. I would like to read more from this author in full length books.. I received This ARC anhave volunteered to leave a review.
