I wanted to enjoy this book. I'd bought, and abandoned, two other Fiona McIntosh books but I'd heard so much about this one that I truly wanted to enjoy it.
Unfortunately the story was so ridiculously improbable that I wanted to shout at the book. I had absolutely no sympathy for the main character who finds herself in love with a man she has only met a couple of hours ago all because he wheedles a job at a chocolate factory for her. I found her shallow and self-absorbed. As for her love interest, this young man proves himself a compulsive liar at their first meeting and it only continues from there. Why the writer thought this an attractive quality in a man I'll never understand.
So, another Fiona McIntosh bought and unfinished. You'd think I'd learn after two...I've learned after three and won't be buying another.
