Product Description

Lucas Thorn wasn’t born a cheater. All it took was a single moment—say, a certain disastrous incident on the night before his wedding—and boom. Reputation destroyed forever and always. So now he owns it. He has a lady friend for every night of the week (except Sundays—God’s day and all), and his rules are simple: No commitments. No exceptions.

But a certain smart-mouthed, strawberry blonde vixen is about to blow that all to hell.

Avery Black has never forgiven Lucas for cheating on her sister. And suddenly being forced to work with him is pretty much a nightmare on steroids. Of course, it does afford her the opportunity to make his life as difficult as possible. But no good revenge scheme comes without payback. Because he didn’t become the Lucas Thorn without learning a few things about women.

Now Avery’s lust for vengeance has turned into, well, lust. And if Lucas stops cheating, it’s definitely not because he’s falling in love…

Another wonderful read from Rachel Van Dyken. I don't know how she does it, from laugh out loud rom coms to dark mafia stories, she gets it right every time.

Firstly, don't let the title scare you off. Don't let the synopsis scare you off. Don't let the Lucas we initially meet scare you off.

Gees, that makes it sound bad, doesn't it? But it is not. Ms Van Dyken has never let us down yet, and she doesn't start here either.

Lucas Thorn is all sorts of douchey when we first meet him. But as the story progresses you will see there is more than meets the eye.

Avery - gah I just loved her. She is fun, silly, quirky and can come across as a little prudish at times, but she is one of the most adorable female characters I have read in a while.

I laughed, I may have cried, there may have been some anger come out towards characters at times, and there may have been a little bit of swooning going on .

Now I am impatiently awaiting the second book, Cheater's Regret.

Laugh out loud funny, deliciously sweet & sexy as hell. Don’t let the title turn you off reading this book. It certainly does not glorify cheating and in fact shows the consequences of such betrayal.

I certainly did not like Lucas Thorn when I started reading, but the more I read, and the better I got to know him behind his shallow, charming playboy front, the more I warmed to him. I soon realised that he wore it like a suit of armour.

Four years ago, at age seventeen, Avery Black was naïve, impressionable, and totally enamoured by her sister’s fiancé, Lucas. She was shattered when he fell spectacularly from his pedestal the night that he was caught cheating on her sister.

Now that Avery is older, and reluctantly working with Lucas, she is forced to revisit that fateful night which she now sees through adult eyes, and realises that things were not as black and white as she once thought.

The chemistry between Avery and Lucas is off the charts and the sexual tension is tangible. Avery tries to reconcile the man who is her boss with the young man that she knew before, and must decide if she will risk having her heart broken again.

I enjoyed the flashbacks to that fateful night and seeing the dual perspectives of Lucas and Avery. The only negative was Lucas’s mother who I found to be annoying, unbelievable and over the top.

It was light and entertaining with plenty of humour, romantic moments and smoking hot passion.

I want Avery Black as my new best friend..... as of yesterday!

I am a big fan of Rachel Van Dyken, so knew I'd love this book before I even read it. But reading it just made my heart full.

I spent so much of this book laughing along with these characters. Rachel has an amazing way of writing her characters where you feel as though you are literally walking their journey with them.

When Avery starts working a temp job, the last person she expected to be her boss is the jerk who broke her sisters heart right before he was due to marry her.

Avery has always crushed on Lucas Thorn. He was her hero when she was a kid and he was dating her sister. He was her best friend. He was the boy who she knew she could never have because he loved her sister. And then he shattered her heart. He cheated on her sister. How could she ever look at him the same way?!

Lucas Thorn is a serial playboy. Since the moment he cheated on Kayla, he figured that he couldn't hold a relationship together. So he has a calendar of women. A different woman for each day of the week. And it's not called cheating when all the women know about each other. Well so he says.

But then, little, Avery Black walks into his office to start working as his secretary. Little Avery Black - the younger sister of the girl he was meant to marry. Little Avery Black who he adored as a kid. Little Avery Black that he had feelings for, that he knew he shouldn't of had. Little Avery Black, who isn't so little anymore.....

I've got to say I really enjoyed this book, after, the first few chapters. As the story was warming up, I was a bit uncomfortable and not really happy with the scenario that Lucas Thorn had created. Maybe it wasn't Lucas Thorn that I was particularly unhappy with, maybe I was the way his girls accepted their position as a day of the week. That been said, once Avery Black came into the picture, I became more and more engrossed in the story, and as things played out, I started really getting into the characters. Basically, if you're looking for a serious read, this is not your book. It is pretty out there, but if you take it for the fun read it is, you will truly enjoy it. I was laughing out loud in places, and even though the parents were so scarily unbelievable, they were also hilarious. I had no clue how the parents could be so forgiving towards Lucas, but I just rolled with it and enjoyed the ride. Avery and Lucas really worked well together and when all the truths came out I was praying for their HEA. The "Lucas Thorn effect" is definitely a thing, because he totally won me over. Beautifully written in dual POV and a thorough enjoyable light easy read. I was provided with an advanced copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
