This book was a 4.5⭐️ read
This is the first book in the dark love series.
I am not normally one for love triangles but this one drew me in and I couldn’t put it down.
This book was full of angst and heartbreak. With lots of emotional pulls.
It was frustrating and sexy at the same time.
Charlotte (Charlie) has to decide between Lex, the love of her life and her biggest heartbreak... and Julian her fiancé who has taught her that she can love again.
Will it be long lost love or new love that wins out in the end?
The cliffhanger at the end has left me wanting more...
Bring on Chasing Us.

Angsty love story

I would like to thank Kat for writing this brilliant, angsty love triangle. From get go this story will take hold of your heart and string you into a web of confusion, heartache and choices regarding a love that may or may not be right for our beautiful heroine.

The characters are brilliantly written in this angst fest. Charlie and Lex will tear you apart but these are the love stories that you remember. Charlie and Julian will swoon you with protection and safety but I certainly feel my pull to Charlie and Lex’s story.

Team Lex here but definitely need book 2 ASAP.

First time reading this author and I’m hooked on her words.

I loved that i got to reread the new and revised verison of this book, i fell in love with the story all over again cannot wait to reread them all again.

Charlie moved on after Lex leaving her 8 years ago, Julian is everything she has ever wanted loving charming sexy and treats her like the gem she is and when Julian proposes of course she says yes there is no reason not to.

After 8 years the past comes back to right when Charlie least expects it. Lex is back and as soon as he runs into her he knows what he has been missing all these years and he is going to do everything in his power to win her and nothing will stop him, not even her fiance. Lex is nothing like he was when they last saw each other .

Charlie never expected the love triangle she would be in, the tormoil and confusion she would feel. Will she forgive Lex? Who will she choose? This is part 1 of the Dark love series so lets just say yes it does end with a cliffhanger and such a good one too, bring on the next one.

This book is really well written, it flows. The description is enough to immerse yourself in the world without being too much. The story is intriguing and the author gets you hooked by dangling threads for you to unravel. You king of root for her and Julian. The chemistry between Charlie and Alex is intense both in the past and the present. I know a lot of people hate cheating books but I really enjoyed it and you can kind of understand. I love the supporting characters they are all unique and interesting. The love story is so intense. There are plenty of get your crap together moments. Charlie is kick ass, such a determined woman who defies stereotypes. That ending ! Can anyone say cliffhanger! Starting book 2 now...

A big thank you to Kat T Masen for the ARC and the chance to re-read this new version Book 1 of the Dark Love series.

I forgot how much I loved this story and it's characters and how it captivated me from the first page.
You will laugh and you will probably cry and feel their pain but above all else you will love the intense love they have between them, that spans years.

I had a love hate relationship with Lex and Charlie, mostly love and you will understand why once you read it. And read it you must!!

Ugh! Its so frustrating when a really good and promising book starts being murdered in the middle up to the end. This is my first book of the author and I was even ready to give it 4 stars 🥺

Just some wishful thinking and what ifs for me, coz I know it could have been better.
-what if her friends are less annoying
-what if her friends doesn't condone cheating and even cheering for them
-what if she learned from the past considering that it broke her
-what if she respects Julian (ohh, poor Julian!) enough to come clean and break up with him instead of stringing him along and made him a back up plan

I do understand conflicts but for me it needs to makes sense. Again, its just my wishful thinking, its just me. Still a good book to read and with enough courage I might give the other books a go but right now I’m a bit scared to invest again. Lol

Definitely entertaining and worth a look, however poor batman, with the way the female lead is behaving she deserves to end up alone. She has two men devoted to her and she treats them both like shpoo.

Chasing Love is the story of Charlie (Charlotte) and Alex. There is so much involved in their story both past and present. The history between their characters, the present day issues, along with the pure emotional factor, the angst, anger, deception, lies, and the sexual tension in almost every chapter between these two could burn this book up!

Charlie has not had many relationships since she left after the big explosion where her affair with Alex was discovered after high school. She left town and years later ended up living in New York City. She and her college roommate Nikki start their own law firm and Charlie’s life seems settled. Charlie meets Julian at the gym and after just three months Julian asks her to marry him. She says yes and it looked like they were going to settle down and have a great life. Until Alex walks into her life again, once that happens it is obvious that havoc will occur.

In this book the two characters that I really became invested in were Charlie (Charlotte) and Julian. Julian has all the right intentions when it comes to Charlie and how much he loves her and is willing to give her. Then there is Charlie; it became obvious that there is something that Charlie is hiding, definitely something dark. That being said when we do find out we realize how damaged and how hurt Charlie was those 8 year ago when Alex left her to deal with the blow out of their relationship.

I don’t know that Charlie even really knows what or whom she wants. Her anger, the sadness, makes me wonder does she know who she can trust. Does she allows sexual interactions with Lex because she still has feelings for him or is she those interactions with him to punish herself (or maybe him) for all the closed off feelings and emotions he brings out in her?

So, this is where I say, this book held my attention for 2 solid days, I couldn’t put it down. I worked my way through it, and I know that I need to find out what happens in book 2. This story may cross some of your own personal lines, it can anger you and that’s ok, the reader needs those feelings.

Dual POV. Cliffhanger. Trigger warning: cheating both while married and while engaged. Lots of pop culture references to movies, TV series, magazines, social media, actors and music. Multiple flashbacks to childhood and 8 years ago.

Charlie starts to seek out a social life by going to a gym. Seemingly on day one achieving her goal when she meets Julian, who instantly falls for her and proposes 3 months later. They definitely have a passionate spark but Charlie questions her decision to marry Julian.

Lex is a business mogul traveling between London and NY to secure a business deal. While at a business luncheon he hears then sees an attractive brunette and feels drawn to her. Lex tries to stay focused on the meal & conversation but his attention is pulled to the brunette who turns her head and he realizes she's Charlie. Lex walked away from Charlie years ago, searched for her but was unable to find her. He can't believe his California girl is sitting so close to him in a restaurant in NYC.

Seeing Charlie in the restaurant catapults them both back in time and sets them on a collision course of destruction.

This story is so richly steeped in emotions and is a little taboo. Is it possible to love another person when one person owns your soul, but has hurt you the deepest? Charlie has overcome her heartache and is trying to move on. Just as she accepts Julien's proposal she comes face to face with her one true love Alex or Lex as he is called now. Charlie is at a crossroads and needs to decide who she wants in her life and both Julien and Alex are not the type to share . As Charlie dances on the edge of the sword, she finds the sword slowly sicing the life from her as she knows who she truly wants but will she be enough or does she decide on what she believes is a safer choice. This is a push-pull story that will take you from the depths of heartbreak to the joys of happiness. I enjoyed the antics and banter of Charlie's closest friends. The ending is INTENSE and will leave you rooting for Charlie and Alex.
