Product Description

Lara Hunter’s life is finally headed in the right direction. With a good education, a great new job, and her dear best friend, Kade, by her side, nothing can get in her way until a freak rain storm leaves her sprawled across the road in the middle of a busy intersection during rush hour traffic.

Reed Prescott rakes in millions on business deals every day. He’s driven and hard-edged and his life is quite complicated enough before a silly little girl in outrageous high heels bites it in front of his moving vehicle. With no other choices, he forces her out of the pouring rain and inside his car. His concern isn’t necessarily with her safety, but to ward off any potential lawsuit.

While Lara’s not entirely sure she appreciates Reed’s high-handed helpfulness, Reed’s whole world is rocked by the honesty and genuineness of the captivating beauty underneath that soggy exterior. Reed’s success in business has always been fueled by hate for his dysfunctional birth family, so when the potential for love stands in front of him, can this hardened man find a way to chase after happy?

Highly recommended in every way, this is a well written, fun, romantic and sexy novel that you will in one sitting. I bought this book based on the amazing reviews and the fact a debut author had been in the top 20 New York Times best sellers list for so long - and I Am so pleased I did as I totally understand why. Reed and Lara are amazing individuals but far better as a dynamic couple that calm each other. Chasing Happy is the story of Reed, an arrogant millionaire playboy and Lara, a quiet beauty embarking on her first steps towards the life she has always wanted. Love wasn't in the plans for either, but when their paths cross and undeniable chemistry ignites forever changing their minds, lives, and hearts. Reed’s anger is intense, yet when he looks at Lara his entire demeanour changes and you find yourself feeling empathy for this gentle giant. Lara is the epitome of beauty, charisma, and class, yet she still views herself as this weakling of a child whose father deeply neglected her. Both are still struggling to overcome their pasts and believe they are wanted and worthy of love. It's not necessarily the most original story but it's holy entertaining and unputdownnable. Can't wait for more from this exciting new author.

Rylie Roberts has written the best first book I have read by a first time Author. Chasing Happy is truly that in reading this story. Lara finely has her first job and it is a dream. Reed is an arrogant, focused, demon driven, wealthy business man. They both have horrid past that influences the idea of ever finding Happy. Lara has Kade, her protector and roommate. Reed has four best friends with whom he grew up. Their lives collide on a rainy morning in Dallas and then the Chasing begins. The painful revelations of each of their past is heartbreaking. The struggles to understand each other and how to be in a relationship are wonderfully written.
Rylie Roberts’s storytelling voice is great to read. I was given this book. I very much enjoy this story. I look forward to more stories from Rylie Roberts. I am so glad I got to read this book, I think you will be too. Give a new author a try; it will be well worth your time.

Thanks Rylie Roberts & Good Writing

I'm amazed that this is a debut release. Extraordinary!

The book is so well-written with a solid plot and well-defined characters. It's definitely a contemporary romance fiction, so don't expect total realism, e.g., I want her job (unfortunately, my boss expects a lot more productivity from me :-D), but Lara's career shines at the end, though.

The overall feel to me is a little like a modern-day, edgier Cinderella meets Beauty and the Beast.

Rylie Roberts gives authenticity to the voices of both Reed and Lara, so we readers can fully participate in their separate thoughts/behaviours/back-history as they travel on their adjoined journey to a new place. Oh, and there are some seductive scenes, including one that starts in an elevator. Kade, Lara's life-long friend is an important voice in this book.

Congratulations Rylie on this generous and absorbing narrative...hoping you have another on the go, ready for release soon!

Lara virtually crashes into Reed, then a chain of interesting events occur. Initially not knowing he's her boss, she takes a liking to him, there's some good chemistry going on as well.
Actually despite their childhoods it's a rather happy story. You can just feel these two are so good together. There's a few ups & downs but nothing major.
Her friend Kade is a good protector & I liked how he & Reed eventually bonded. I have a feeling that in another book Kade will meet that certain someone. Maybe I'm wrong.
Anyway I love it when characters connect & you join them on their journey.

On her way to her first day at her dream job, Lara flat out falls in front of her new boss - who she does not know is her new boss.

Reed is momentarily worried about her suing him, but once he sees her, really sees her, he is immediately intrigued by the beautiful woman in front of him. He is not sure what to do with these feelings he has for her - he doesn't do the relationship thing, more of a wham bam thank you ma'am kind of guy.

I loved that Lara did not instantly succumb to his charms. She is a bit put off by the way he acts towards her, tells her rather than asks her, that kind of stuff. She is attracted, no doubt about it, but he has other attributes that tone down that attraction.

I am not sure what it was, but there was just something missing from Reed that stopped me from going from the "yeah I like him" to the "OMG I love him". Can't quite put my finger on what it was though - maybe it was just my frame of mind at the time of reading, maybe it is just me.

And Lara's oft repeated "I don't see myself like that", rather than her being the sexy mama that Reed and her besty keep telling her - it frustrated me. It was not like she had terrible self esteem, just GAH! It made her feel more immature than she really was.

There is no denying that when they are together, the sexy times are hot as f*&k. Fanning myself here!

Although I liked Lara and Reed, at times I just didn't feel them.

There are some great secondary characters and relationships in Chasing Happy. Lara and Kade - her bestie - have an amazing relationship, feels so real. You can't help but love Kade. I reaally, really hope that his is the next book in the series.

Reed's family and friends are amazing.
