Product Description

Sometimes the biggest risk is playing it safe.

Gen Richards is tired of living down to her family’s expectation of the helpless blind girl. Resurrecting her high-school bucket list that begins with “kiss a total stranger” seems just the thing until she finds herself in a panty-melting lip lock with her big brother’s best friend.

Chance Anderson thrives on adrenaline, but Genny’s the one risk he’s not willing to take. His recklessness a decade ago landed her in the hospital and ejected him from her life. He’s bad for her and everyone knows it—especially her big brother.

Chance reluctantly helps Gen complete her bucket list in order to keep her out of trouble. Running through a freezing fountain, playing spin the bottle while fending off a mad horde of stinging insects, and skinny dipping with homicidal attack swans don’t hold a candle to the real danger: falling for the one person he can never have.

5.0 out of 5 stars Simply amazing. 17 November 2015

Marissa Clarke has made my list of favorite authors. I will be honest and admit to not reading the book blurb before I started reading Chance of a Lifetime. Thus, I had no idea what to expect. I was surprised the heroine was blind and I had no idea if her blindness was a result of something the hero did in the past.

Chance of a Lifetime is one of those romances for the ages. Gen Richards and Chance Anderson met when they were 5 and 8, after Chance attempted to defend her honor on the baseball field. Gen’s family, along with her brother who use to be Chance’s best friend, kept Gen locked in a box and never allowed her to branch out or feel like a “normal” person. Chance was different. He insisted she be included in everything they did. He never once allowed her disability to define who she was.

I went from being curious about Gen’s blindness and how that would work in a romance to being completely in awe by her determination to live her life to its fullest. I definitely wasn't expecting her to be a feisty heroine. She’s independent and comfortable in her own skin. The only things holding her back are her parents and brother.

After a tragic accident, Chance is ordered to stay away from Gen, but she’s like a magnet and he can’t stay away. So he keeps his distance, always making sure she’s okay. The two reconnect when Gen decides to fulfill her bucket list that she made ten years previously. Item one is kiss a total stranger. Oops, turns out the stranger is Chance, her high school crush. The two agree to fulfill her bucket list, realizing their feelings for one another.

There are some authors who grab you with the first words of their book and never let you go. Marissa Clarke is one of those authors. Chance and Gen are both fantastic. I could feel their love for each other coming through the pages. There were a couple of times I actually felt tears in my eyes. I’ve loved couples in the past, but these two go beyond anything I’ve ever felt for another couple.

Marissa has ended the Anderson Brothers series on a high note. Big sigh!!!! I loved this book. It should be noted Chance of a Lifetime is a standalone read.

Great little story about two people made for each other. Loved her 15-year old bucket list! And how could she not fall for the guy who learned braille, wore a blindfold to "see" what things were like for her, and realized that the best way to help a woman is sometimes to let her figure things out for herself.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great friends to lovers story!! 9 January 2016
By Tiffany Williams - Published on

"How could this have happened? Of the thousands of people she could have randomly kissed in the city, it had to be Chance."

I love a good friends to lovers story! This one is a great one!

Gen has always struggled to be seen. How ironic, since she is without sight herself. Everyone makes her take the "safe" way around everything and forgets to consider her-her wants, her needs. Everyone except for her big brother's best friend, Chance. She's been pining after him since childhood. She couldn't seem to resist him.

Chance has always considered Gen one of his best friends. That's why romance between them could never happen. That and her brother, his best friend, would kill him. So when Genny kissed him out of nowhere, he didn't know what to do. Especially since he hadn't talked to her in ten years because of a horrible accident that haunts him to this day.

"Bucket list. Who on Earth made bucket lists? Genny did. And she wouldn't let him see it. He had agreed blind..he almost laughed at the irony."

I loved the idea of him helping her accomplish the items on her bucket list!! After their falling out all those years ago, this was a perfect way to figure out his reasonings behind the disappearance. Even if she will have a hard time not blurring the lines.

I got a huge crush on Chance while reading! As the story unfolds, you figure out why he left and what he went through for ten years. It was heartbreaking and swoonworthy at the same time!

"He'd never be able to stay away. She was like a drug. He needed more. He always had. He was addicted, but had been unable to control it and hide it...Until last night when she'd kissed him."

There were moments in this book where I found myself tearing up because the situation was a tough one. A man who was weighted down by his own ten year old guilt, fighting for his feelings of the only woman he ever really cared for. And a woman who fought everyday for her freedom, and only wanted to be let go from the binds her family put her under.

My heart pulled for both of these characters as they slowly fell more in love with each other. Gen's bucket list, even though it was made when she was 15, was just what she needed, and Chance was the perfect person to help her accomplish all ten items.

"Chance was her knight in shining armor, ready to battle against the dragon and free her from her prison. If only it were that simple."

I really enjoyed this book! It was the first one I read in the series, and now I want to read the rest!!!

This author did a great job with each of these characters and painting a perfect picture of Gen's life through her "eyes". It was truly beautful.

"What do you see?"
"Nothing but you."
"I'm not kidding."
"Neither am I."

5.0 out of 5 stars and her best friend were at their friendly neighborhood bar 21 August 2016

Author Marissa Clarke outdid herself again, in book 3 and conclusion of the Anderson brothers. All 3 are must-reads!...........Desperate to cut the apron strings from her controlling brother, Geneieve "Gen" Richards was determined more than ever to complete her bucket list. She may be blind, but she is more than adequate by living her life to the fullest and seeing fit to her every day needs. That is, except for her bucket list, in which she was about to start now. First on her list was to kiss a total stranger and since Gen and her best friend were at their friendly neighborhood bar,she might as well start right away. Sounds like a plan, right? Except when her lips touched the stranger's lips, her world as she knew it, wouldn't stop spinning out of control, especially when he said her name. " Genny". It couldn't be, could it? For ten long years, Chance Anderson had envisioned this moment in his dreams that he even lost count. He had been in love with Genny ever since they were kids and with him always defending her from all those bullies and his controlling best friend, her brother Walter. Those memories were still fresh in his mind, especially that awful night ten years ago when he left her all alone on the pier, with her promise to him, that she would remain on the bench until he came back with some help. However, that never happened , due to a secret that he kept for so long and it was still too painful to even think about because while he was gone, Genny fell into the pier and injured herself, landing right into the hospital. Chance could still hear the wrath in her brother's voice and her family's. Disapproval, and yelling at him to stay away from her and as each day that went by, he still hated himself for not taking her calls, or answering her texts. So, he did the next best thing by checking up on her daily , made sure she was all right and even went to her favorite bar every Tuesday night, but to make matters worse, that kiss that he always imagined in he dreams for so long, happened and boy, oh boy! was she ever mad! Gen couldn't believe that she just kissed Chance Anderson! She had been so mad at him for a solid decade for abandoning her all those years ago, and not once, had he called her or answered her texts. The jerk! She had been in love with him, practically all her life and then on that awful night, he disappeared from her life, never to be seen or heard from again. But after the anger settled down, an idea formed in Gen's mind and she wouldn't take no for an answer when she informed Chance that he was about to help her complete her bucket list. But as each day that went by, old feelings returned and old desires resurfaced, Chance and Gen had no idea that obstacles were about to redirect their future. With attacking swans, flying large insects, and a crazy roller coaster ride, help two lost souls find each other again? Or is love not in the cards at all, for Chance and Gen? I loved all three books. You absolutely can't put them down, once you start reading them! Thank you

5.0 out of 5 stars A captivating, fully-enthralling romance read! 17 November 2015

Chance of a Lifetime by Marissa Clarke is one of those rare books that takes you through a gamut of emotions while reading it. I laughed, I cried, I hurt, I smiled, and I loved.

I loved the heroine Gen from the start. She's smart, spunky, and thoroughly compelling to read. More than anything, she wants to prove herself as a fully capable, independent woman, and having Chance Anderson back in her life is a mixed blessing because she loved him once but he hurt her and because he hurt her, she isn't sure she can trust him now. But she needs him, and in her mind, he owes her and she fully intends to collect.

Well-written and engaging, humorous and sexy, Chance of a Lifetime is my favorite of the three Anderson Brothers books. The character of Gen drew me into the story, but Chance really caught me by the heart. His devotion to Gen was so heartfelt and so all-consuming that I couldn't help but fall in love with the guy. He's one of those amazing contemporary heroes that jumps out at you and screams that there is more to him than you could ever possibly imagine. He's a very rare breed of man, one with a deep well of flaws, insecurities, and a sense of love and loyalty beyond measure. He's every bit the kind of contemporary romance hero I love to read about, and his romance with Gen was absolutely fabulous.

I have so many favorite moments from this story that I couldn't begin to choose one, but I will say that my absolute favorite part of Gen and Chance's romance takes place near the end of the book and it just melted me, and really cemented Chance as a one-of-a-kind, tried-and-true romance hero with a good, kind heart capable of so much more than even he realizes. Hardcore loved him!

If you love reunion romances with witty banter, humorous encounters, and heart-tugging emotion, Chance of a Lifetime is an amazing read that will seriously sweep you up and make you smile, and sigh, and laugh, and cry. I loved it!
