Product Description

*Catching Kate is book 1.5 in The Acceptance Series. Breaking Kate should be read first*
After almost four years, Michael Matthews has come face to face with the love of his life. To say it didn't go quite as he envisioned is an understatement. Never in a million years would he have imagined that his best friend, Daniel, is the new man in Kate's life.
Once their explosive evening concludes and everyone goes their separate ways, Mike takes the time to calm down and plan his next move. If there's one thing that calms him it's Kate, even if it's just memories of her. Mike has four hours before he sees her again and gets to plead his case. Instead of sleeping, he spends his evening remembering every detail of their relationship from the beginning.
Experience Mike and Kate's love story from the start, all from Mike's point of view. Find out why he left Kate in pieces and learn just how far he'll go to make her fall in love with him all over again.

WARNING: **this does come with a warning that it’s to be read after Breaking Kate**
This novella is from Michael’s view point in the Kate, Daniel and Michael love triangle. I found it very jumpy through time spans but thankfully, having reading Breaking Kate, it all made sense.
I kinda had an understanding and a bit of compassion for Michael and his character through Breaking Kate – but now, reading this, he’s a douche. He’s self-centered, emotionally bankrupt, ego driven, ‘little bitch syndrome’ and I found myself thinking ‘HA! I hope you get what’s coming to you!”
This series is a very good reminder of ‘you don’t know what you’ve got till it’s gone’ and that sometimes, not getting what you think you want is actually a huge blessing. I really didn’t like Michael and for me to get my hackles up during a book, the author has done a good job. I’m really pulling for Daniel – oh GOD how badly I want Daniel to ‘win’! I’m really looking forward to Releasing Kate to see how this love triangle continues.

5.0 out of 5 stars how he fell head over heels in love, and why he broke it off with Kate ... 10 September 2014

This book is the “in-between” book that tells Mike’s POV of the things that happened before and during Breaking Kate. It goes back in time to tell us how Michael met Katie Grace and Jess, how he fell head over heels in love, and why he broke it off with Kate and left everyone in his life behind. Basically you’re getting the back story from Mike’s POV on everything leading up to the end of book one, even him meeting Daniel, Connor, and Jake. (Which gave me new love for their bro-mance) ;)

In case you didn’t know, I loved book one of this series! Sometimes, I am not a fan of (in-between) novellas, but this book was awesome and is very important to the series. It gives us a closer look at Mike, which is a really beneficial, especially because I kind of didn’t like him so much in book one. Now, after reading his POV, I am torn between the two guys, I think I might still be #TeamDaniel, but I am not sure….

This is an emotional book that will keep you wanting more and will completely make you change your mind on things you may have thought about Michael and Katherine’s romance and devastating end. I love reading Dee’s writing as she writes with passion and high emotion; it makes me fall in love with her characters.

If you have not read book one ---Breaking Kate, you are missing out, get it today you, must read it before reading Catching Kate. This is great original story that you’ll fall in love with. I can’t wait to see where the series takes us!

5.0 out of 5 stars Catching Kate: The Acceptance Series Book 1.5 Reviewed by Loraine Oliver 7 February 2015

Catching Kate by D Kelly is the book that is to be read between the first book Breaking Kate and the third book Releasing Kate, this book is called Catching Kate. This book tells the story of what happens according to Michael's point of view, after he leaves his Mother and the little girl he grew up with and loves more than he loves himself.

Michael left a ruined and shattered young man with nowhere to go and nothing planned out. All he knows is that the little girl he loved since he was 7 years old and there to get her through the death of her mother, the neglect of her father, and the years between 7 and 18, is a stranger to her. He has been told that she knew about her father's treachery to remove his father from his own company and cause him to go broke, and that Katie stole the paper from his home that put the nail in his father's coffin. He is so angry and devastated by his father's death that night due to an accident caused by his father drunk driving, that he can't deal with any of it any more.

This book tells of Michael's road to finding a family that takes him in as their own , the two brothers and their friend opening their homes and heart to him and he flourishes, but he also stops believing in love. He goes through women like water never needing to know their names, faceless one night stands.

Read this book and see what happened to Michael that fateful night 4 years ago when he was going to ask his girl to get married, and instead walks way from her, never allowing her to explain anything. Read about how an unbelievable coincidence brings his Katie Grace back into his life, but not in the way he needs, and with her, an explanation for things he does not even know about that will make the gref he felt seem like nothing!

Read this book, you will be glad you did, and you get to see both sides of the story. What will happen? Can they forgive each other? Is it too late?

I gave this book 5 ***** Stars, and hope you will start the series, I know you will enjoy it as much as I did.

5.0 out of 5 stars Finally, Mike's Side of the Story! LOVED IT!!!! 25 November 2014

Another great read by D. Kelly! Catching Kate is completely from Mike’s perspective. It begins with his first meeting between him, Kate, and Jess. This was a sweet story of friendship, first love, betrayal, and trying to find redemption.

I thought I was leaning toward Team Daniel, but now I’m not so sure. I got to see the other side of Mike which was sweet and loving. I loved seeing how his relationship developed between him and “his girls,” Kate and Jess. His heart always belonged to Kate, but he and Jess shared a deep, loving bond. The day he walked out on Kate, he walked out on Jess too. His life has never been the same. In the first book, readers got to see Kate’s heartbreak, but in this one readers will see not only Mike’s heartbreak but Jess’s too. It made me love Jess even more than I did in the first book. She’s loyal and loves with her whole heart…and she loves Kate and Mike. Of course, I don’t like what Mike did and the person he became, but I realized he truly isn’t the person I thought he was in the first book. I got to see his struggle and pain when he walked out on Kate. Now, you see his struggle with wanting Kate back but not wanting to break Daniel either.

This book is just as good and as emotional in the first book. My heart broke for everyone involved, and I am not sure how it will all end or how I want it to end! Thankfully, I won’t have to wait long as the latest book will be out very soon. If you are looking for a book that will tug at your heart, give this series a try. You have to read them in order though, beginning with Breaking Kate.

5.0 out of 5 stars Will first love be forever love 21 July 2014

Will first love be forever love...?

Kate & Jess' happily ever after is rocked by the sudden appearance of Mike at Jake and April's engagement party. Your heart literally stops when Mike and Kate make eye contact for the first time in four years. As a reader I could feel that split second when their past, and bad decision making on Mike's part, comes crashing down around them. At the same time your heart is breaking for Daniel. The novella is from Mikes POV and takes you back to where Mike, Kate, and Jess meet for the first time and the life events, good and bad, that lead up to where this heart stopping moment takes place. You learn how three people who where so close could be torn apart by a family tragedy and when tragedy strikes miscommunication and blame takes shape instead of rational thinking. Mike and Kate's lifes were permenantly altered from paths they thought they were destined for. Michael makes his case and his bid for Kate's heart.

While I beleive we've all made our minds up about who Kate belongs with (haven't we??), I know I had to give Mike some sympathy after reading his story. But I am still #teamdaniel. I can't help it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Dee has done it again 24 January 2015

OMG. It has just come to my attention that I never posted my review for Catching Kate, and Releasing Kate is set to release in a few weeks. I do apologize, but I am going to make this short and simple, and make it spoiler free. If you have not read Breaking Kate, please do not go any further, even though I am not posting any spoilers, the short blurb itself gives so much away.

Catching Kate is told in Mikes POV. It feels in the gap before his and Katherines breakup, and the events leading up to their next encounter almost 4 years after their breakup. All hell has already broken lose when we met back with Michael aka Mike in Catching Kate. The cat is out of the bag, and everyone realizes Daniel’s Kate is Mike’s Katherine and Daniel’s friend Mike is Kate’s Michael.

I absolutely loved hearing the entire story in Michaels POV. Knowing what I knew before I came into Catching Kate, and what I learned from it, it is clear that Michael does and always has loved Kate. But when we met Katherine, aka Kate, she was broken, and Daniel pieced her back together. I do not want to see her fall to pieces again. How will she handle the situation? Who will she choose? And will friendships prevail above love?
