I forced my way through the book and it's ever increasing improbabilities but couldn't finish the last chapter. A disappointing use of poorly written sex scenes lacking true eroticism felt like an another nail in the coffin of an original idea gone wrong. Barely litrpg lite and seems to claim the genre more to make money than live the concept.
The story started well but then got mired in detailed sex scenes. These detracted from the storyline and I'm afraid I gave up reading after the third sex description. I'm no prude, but the sex didn't really add anything to the story and became very distracting. They say that "sex sells" but in this case it cluttered up what could have been a great story. Having to wade through the graphic details of each encounter left the story falling short.

I have read most of Edenβs work as well as a lot of other GameLit stories. This book is Edenβs best work to date and the dynamic of using cards is a unique one that I havenβt come across before.
The story is engaging, the characters are fairly well developed with room to develop more (assuming this is only a first book of a series), and the pacing is perfect. The way this ended is perfect because the story can be taken in so many different directions and there is no indication of what direction Eden will take it, which is what makes this an excellent start.
When you read card mage, you probably think of gambit. Probably the coolest xmen ever.
Then you read this book and all thoughts of 'cool' flee your mind. Very generic, no depth, lotsa harem sexy time, and very unbelievable. Some random guy comes up with a totally mind boggling new way of doing magic in a couple of hours without having almost any background knowledge? Sure...
My advice would be to skip this one. Even when your running out of things to read during this pandemic.
I did not know what to expect from this book but I liked the author and thought why not. I am glad I did engaging characters nice plot line some cultivation interspersed and a world to grow in. Will get the next in the series as soon as released
