What an amazing read - funny, exciting, Heartbreaking - it has it all. This is #2 in the series & as soon as I finished #1 I managed to get my hands on this one - wow. Glynnis Campbell's mind is awesome as she takes us back in time to Scotland when Knights & Varlots roamed the land. I enjoyed finding the olden words Glynnis weaved into the storyline & looking them up in a dictionary to see what they meant. This is a very clever book & #3 should be too. Run out & get any books written by Glynnis Campbell - so clever a writer.
Although I have not read the series in order I enjoyed all three books equally, all written with such style of romance, adventure, love and lust and such bravery from the three sisters of Rivenloch. This story is about the Middle sister Helena who is the fiery outspoken one. She has no intentions of marriage or children which puts her on a long rocky road because she refuses to go down without a fight.
Once again the maids of rivenloch prove there worth as warriors and lovers. This story is beautifully written about Helena's struggle to accept her love for Colin and her love for being a courageous warrior. Both matched in wit and love, they finally come to a HEA.
Thoroughly enjoyed this story. I liked that Helena remained true to herself the whole way through - stubborn, impulsive, fiery - even if it's a little unrealistic to imagine a woman from this time period acting as she does. I liked Colin, too. Fun, humourous, sexy; a good read.
I absolutely adore this series, I'm currently rereading the whole lot again and still can't put it down lol. Not my normal genre at all but the female characters in this series are very strong, intelligent lasses.
