Product Description

Land. Power. Influence. Mary O'Malley knows these are the only things that matter in her war-torn country. Determined to win back her ancestral home, she must embark on a journey across the Atlantic disguised as a cabin boy. But her ruse brings her under the control of a dangerous sea captain who demands from her the one thing she will never give—complete and total submission.

Captain Richard Grant runs a tight ship, and he didn't claw his way up through the ranks of the Royal Navy to be undone by a headstrong Irish girl hell-bent on jeopardizing his mission and his crew. If she insists on dressing like a man, then she can take his punishments. He demands obedience, but his insatiable need for her leads to a complex game of sex, desire, and dominance not even he can control.

Awakened by the passion Grant stirs in her, Mary finds herself falling for the stern captain. But when her false identity leads to rumors of her spying for the French, she must choose between her love for Ireland and the man who commands her body—and her heart.

*voluntarily and honestly reviewed the ARC I received from IndieSage PR*

I'm not one to love historical romances but this book has made me rethink everything I've been missing out on! Mary is an Irish born rebel who's just one of the many that suffered the effects of the Rebellion in 1798 (I actually learned something) and when the one thing to grant her home freedom disappears, she goes out to retrieve it. At all costs.

The tone of this story and writing style were amazing. I loved how stubborn she was, how persistent and passionate she felt for her country. Grant, a captain who knew more than anyone about hardship and hard work, refuses to grasp her understanding of boarding a Navy's ship under guise. Yet when push comes to shove, he finds himself doing everything in his power to keep her safe. Their chemistry was off the charts, and since I'm a sucker for the hate-first-love-later romances, it wasn't hard to get into their dominate games of keeping control. There was adventure, suspense, a thrilling secret that would make or break them. The ending was a little weird for me but in all honesty, I don't exactly have the grounds to judge how one would react in the face of danger. But still, it left me very satisfied in the end and I can't wait to see what other Irish heroines Halverson has in store. Definite recommend for you history buffs that enjoy a good tale.

5.0 out of 5 stars Lord have mercy what a hot passionate great read 10 April 2017

Two young people fall in love one goes off to war, the other has to face the plans her father has made for her to marry a man she doesn’t love who is mean. With these turn of events she runs right into the arms of Captain Richard Grant. But I am getting ahead of myself first she dress like a cabin boy before boarding his ship hoping she can pull this off because if not she will be in for a life of pain with the plans her father has for her. It doesn’t take long for her to be found out, one look and the captain new she was a women. The captain isn’t very happy and makes demands of his own which leads to some very hot passionate scenes that will make you blush.

I really liked the plot and the characters that lead to a very entertaining read that held my attention and kept me turning the pages. The chemistry between these two is hot and off the charts filled with passion and longing. A very well written and thought out story that is intriguing with vivid details that makes you almost feel like you are right there watching.

Mary had me in her hands from the start with all she had to deal with. Her love of her country is outstanding it made me proud of her and all she stood for. She isn’t a woman to take what is dished out but stands proud and is demanding in her own way. Captain Grant had to do a little work for me to like him but he came through even with that tough side and a voice that make grown men jump to his demands he became a very likable character. The author was able to turn him in to a wonderful man any women would be happy to have. Erotic is not a genre I read a lot of most is lacking in plot and story not the case with this author she knows how to pull of the plot, love scenes to really make it an interesting read filled with excitement and thrills. I look forward to reading more of her work.

5.0 out of 5 stars Strong Character Anneals Hot Hot Hot 6 April 2017
By Nancy G - Published on Amazon.com

I enjoy being drawn into a story the moment I begin reading. Such is the case with "The Captain's Rebel" where Mary pursues reclaiming her family's home from the unwanted English residents. The story piques my curiosity as Mary's dire circumstances revolve around that goal. She is on her own crusade where her willingness to sacrifice all is met with and equal inner strength to survive all.
As an aside, I most often read for pleasure but Halverson forced me to pause and think a bit while reading an overlapping passage from Coleridge's "Rime of the Ancient Mariner" with a rather heated encounter between the Captain and Mary. The mention of "albatross" highlighted the often-intermingling good luck/bad luck outcomes of Mary's travels. This is a good thing when brain cells are forced to fire up. It's an unexpected and appreciated bonus for me.
This is a good read especially if you desire a bit of heat generated by a few SM interactions and a story that moves right along.
5.0 out of 5 stars A fantastic read -- this book has everything! 19 April 2017

This book has everything I love in a romance read! A compelling love story; swashbuckling adventure; fresh, emotional passionate scenes; intrigue and secrets; hidden motives; sincere feelings -- all set against a historical backdrop that keeps everyone off-kilter, allowing for exciting, unexpected plot twists and turns. I couldn't put this book down, to the point where I lost sleep to finish it -- and I'd do it all over again. As a reader, I love being in the hands of a masterful storyteller with serious writing chops, and C.B. Halverson is such a writer. You will not be disappointed!
5.0 out of 5 stars Romance and so much more! 9 April 2017

Full disclosure; I only recently started reading erotica. Most I've read have been mediocre at best, they provided a needed escape from real life, but the writing and plot always left something to be desired. Now I realize I was just reading the wrong books! Who knew a book could be so ridiculously hot and also be incredibly well written and have such a strong plot? The characters are well developed, the romance believable(which is rare in my experience!), and the plot was thoroughly engaging and left me wanting to delve deeper into Irish history. And the sex? Hot hot hot!!! This is a must read for fans of historical romance!
