Product Description

Mary Larkin was hard at work as the office manager at the Green Mountain Country Store when Cameron Murphy brought her dad, Patrick, in to visit. That fateful first meeting, which took place in You’ll Be Mine, sets the stage for Mary and Patrick’s long-awaited romance in Can’t Buy Me Love!

Mary enjoys her predictable, satisfying life in Butler. If it’s a little lacking in excitement, well, that’s okay with her. But after meeting Patrick and getting to know him better at his daughter’s wedding, Mary is intrigued by the well-known, sexy billionaire businessman.

Patrick is equally intrigued. For the first time since he suddenly lost his wife thirty years ago, he has met a woman who makes him feel less lonely, and all he wants is more of his Sweet Mary from Vermont. Flirty phone calls become a weekend away together that takes his relationship with Mary to the next level.

But with six hours and two vastly different lives standing between them, can Mary and Patrick find happily ever after together? And after telling her father to keep his hands and everything else off Mary, will Cameron approve of her father’s new romance?

Oh how I loved reading Mary and Patrick’s story! Mary has always been one of my favourite characters in the Green Mountain series and I was so happy she finally got her own.

Mary is such a sweet woman who helps look after the Green Mountain Country Store in Butler, Vermont. Throughout her life, she has always concentrated on her life rather than her love life.

Patrick is a billionaire who owns multiple hotels all over the world and is Cameron’s father. He isn’t your typical billionaire who is full of himself. This man is all class! He’s charismatic and so loving he just made me swoon throughout this entire book. I love the way he looks after Mary and spoils her when he can’t be with her all the time. He is very determined to have Mary in his life and takes it upon himself to convince her that he is the one she has been waiting for.

This book had me melting all the way through! Cannot recommend this book and the entire Green Mountain/Butler, Vermont series enough!

When I first read about Patrick and Mary I was hopeful that they would get there own book. And did they ever. A short but very sweet story. I was great that all the Abbots and their partners were in there too. Marie Force you are a brilliant author. All of your characters feel like family members and I can't wait to read the next one.

Can’t buy me love is one book I’ve been waiting for and I can tell you I absolutely loved it….. I literally devoured the book within a couple of hours…. It was that good……
This book follows the story of Mary Larkin, who works as the office manager at the Green Mountain Country Store and Patrick Murphy, who is Cameron’s dad. He comes into the store to visit Cameron, in You’ll be Mine and sparks instantly fly.
Mary and Patrick are so opposite……. Mary loves her quiet peaceful life in Butler, she works at the store, she looks after older town residents taking them to Church, she works in the soup kitchen. She’s had one major relationship in her life, where she thought she would marry the guy, but that didn’t happen. Patrick, who is Cameron’s Dad is a very successful sexy billionaire businessman. He lives in New York…. His wife, who was the love of his life died during child birth with Cameron and left Patrick to bring up their daughter on his own. He was so lost and had nanny’s help….. he fly’s around the country in his helicopter…… Mary get’s to spend some time with Patrick his daughters wedding. Patrick asks her to dance and it goes from there. They are both smitten with each other. They spend time together at the wedding…. The chat on the phone every day after they have met and can’t wait to see each other…. Patrick invites Mary, or Sweet Mary from Vermont as he likes to call her away for a weekend…… This book was such a great read… it was refreshing to read a romance story about an older couple…….. both Mary and Patrick keep their romance a secret …… Will Mary and Patrick find their happily ever after????? What will Cameron think when finds out about her fathers romance??????

1.0 out of 5 stars The worst book in any of Marie Force's series 19 June 2017
By TheBossLady - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition Verified Purchase
I am an avid Marie Force fan. I have read all of her series and generally love her books. This book, to me, was terrible. I live and work in Vermont. And Marie's description of a Vermont woman is so off base. Patrick, the billionaire, falls in love with a woman who is church going, does work in the soup kitchen and she, herself, lacks all kinds of any confidence. She just can't believe a billionaire would find her interesting....well, gee, they spent 80% of their time in bed...in positions unknown in Vermont, apparently. Really? This book is best for someone who is young and quite virginal -- and trust me, women in Vermont are really not THAT much different from women in NY or CA. I was very aggravated reading this book because the female character was such a throwback personality -- and not realistic at all. She had nothing in common with Patrick...except the desire to go to bed with him. I was very disappointed in the story line and the characterization of both Patrick and "sweet Mary from Vermont" (ick!)...Patrick, himself, saved himself for 30 years to find this dull, unattractive woman in Vermont....just so unrealistic and so insulting to women in general, and to Vermont women, in particular...

5.0 out of 5 stars Billionaire Patrick and Sweet, Sweet Mary 9 June 2017
By Maria L. - Published on Amazon.com

I won an Advanced Review Copy of this amazing and wonderful story for my honest review.

I can't begin to tell you what a wonderful job Marie Force did with her writing skills and vivid imagination.  It's quite refreshing to read about a mature couple possibly finding love again the second time around (not with each other).  Patrick's and Mary's story began at Will and Cameron's wedding.  Patrick is Cameron's father and Mary works at the store in Butler, Vermont for Lincoln and Molly.  Their story starts off making you feel happy, hopeful, and excited about starting a new possible romance.

You get to learn about the loss of Patrick's first wife, Cameron's mother, after giving birth to Cameron.  Ali, Cameron's mom, was his first love.  He never felt the same after her passing.  He focused on continuing to build his business and became a player because he never felt what he felt for his wife with another woman until Mary.  Mary has lived her life independently and successfully without a man all of her adult life.

I loved how in their first intimate moment after weeks of courtship over the phone they found passion, and intimacy so deep that they also had laughter and honesty!  Their relationship continues to build over distance and time spent apart.  He's a billionaire business man living in NY city and she's in Butler, Vermont.  He firmly establishes himself in her heart with gifts when he's away, overnight visits between the two of them by helicopter, and daily conversation over the phone.  It was amazing to be a bystander.  Each chapter begins with a quote that brings so much meaning to that chapter.

Will Patrick and Mary be able to build a happily ever after?  Mary is pretty independent and very happy to be a part of the Abbott family.  She's also happy with the role she plays in the Butler community.  Patrick is pretty stubborn and determined to have Mary in his life full time.  Cameron told her Dad to keep his hands and the rest of his body parts away from Mary at her wedding.  How is she going to take the news?  What role will Fred the Moose play in this story????

It was also great to find out what was happening with Will and Cameron, Colton and Lucy, Hunter, Ella, Lincoln, Molly, Charley, Max and Elmer.  Most of the latest happenings were happy with a little bit of sadness in another.

This is a must read!"

5.0 out of 5 stars Worth way more than 5 stars!!! 16 June 2017

Marie Force has caused me to lose sleep, miss meals, and made me late for work on more occasions, than any author I've ever read. Why? Because the minute I open her books, she takes me so deep into a whole new, beautiful world filled with wonderful people---people who feel like they've become just like my very own family, and friends--- and I find it very hard to leave them all behind. It starts off simple enbough. I figure I'll just read the first chapter then go do what has to be done. But it never turns out that way. Oh no!!! One chapter quickly turns into two, then three, then before I know it I'm at the end of the book, and it's 6 a.m. And I haven't sleep a wink. But I can't give up reading her books, because I've become so addicted. If there's a self help group out there for a problem like that, please don't tell me. lol!

I loved this book. It's different from all the rest, in that it delves into a budding relationship between two very mature adults, rather than the angst that the younger generation usually brings. I found that very refreshing, for a change. I also loved the fact that the story didn't have a long drawn out angst plot. I think that because they were mature adults, they were more able to sit down, and calmly talk about their major concerns that each of them had going forward.

Of course there was betting going on, hope that never changes. And I'm so glad to see Fred turned up for another visit. Love that big galoot!!!

Can't wait to read more!
5.0 out of 5 stars Delightful and oh so wonderful to see Patrick and Mary';s story at last 19 June 2017

Mary Larkin never anticipated meeting a man like Patrick Murphy. Someone who is rich, powerful and is totally out of her league. But Mary is smitten and after months of long conversations about everything under the sun, it’s time for these two opposites to meet for a weekend away. What Mary doesn’t seem to get is Patrick is equally smitten with her as we she is with him. Sparks fly between these two as they keep their burgeoning relationship under wraps, Mary tries to figure out how a relationship with this man can work with him in NYC and her in tiny small town of Butler, VT. But Patrick is nothing if not determined to win Mary’s affections and her heart, even as he falls hard for the spunky woman who has stolen his heart.

Oh my what a great addition to the Green Mountain/Butler, VT series. I adored meeting Patrick Murphy in Cam’s story, All You Need is Love, and the handsome man just stole my heart in CAN’T BUY ME LOVE. His wooing of Mary is sweet and sexy as sin and those sexy scenes are so hot I had to go cool myself off in front of a fan before I dragged the honey off somewhere. Marie Force is a talented author who just brought Patrick and Mary to life in their story, CAN’T BUY ME LOVE and delivered a story that is at turns heartfelt, sexy and so sweet I was either laughing, smiling or blushing like mad. This is an author who knows how to steal her readers’ hearts within minutes of reading any of her books and she doesn’t stint in her second book in the Butler, VT. Series at all.

Patrick is suave, sexy and so determined to win his ‘sweet Mary’ that he’ll do anything she asks just to give her the time she needs to come to gripes that he is all in and has fallen in love with her. For Mary, Patrick is like a whirlwind in her staid, quiet life in Butler but she cannot help but be charmed by him each time she talks with him. I adore these two together. The sparks fly off the charts between them and I was fanning the face more times I could count while reading this latest addition to the Butler/Green Mountain Series. The scenes where Patrick is showing not just telling her how he feels about her is so sweet and stole my heart alongside Mary’s. Ms. Force is a talented author who manages to convey Mary’s hesitations and doubts in a lasting relationship with suave and wealthy Patrick so seamlessly that I was rooting for these two to find a way to be together after chapter one. The scenes with the rest of the Abbott clan and Patrick’s daughter, Cameron were wonderful and I loved seeing my favorite people as well as the town moose, Fred, who made an appearance later in the book to my utter delight.

CAN’T BUY ME LOVE is a wonderful, well written book that just charms you right from the start as it steals your heart. I loved going back to this wonderful little town filled with people I long to meet for coffee or chat with. Ms. Force does a superb job in her second book in the Butler series that I am anxiously awaiting the next one with bated breath. If you haven’t read this series you need to run-not walk- to grab the first book, All You Need is Love, and get ready for the ride of a lifetime as you meet and fall in love with the Abbott clan and the residents of Butler, Vermont. I look forward to seeing where Ms. Force goes with this series in the future.

5.0 out of 5 stars All things Marie Force Team 10 June 2017

I'm an avid fan and reader of Marie Force and her excellent team. I especially like how she can make each book of series a read alone and in order of series and for multiple times reading, a special talent in a writer. This book was special to me in that you are pleasantly surprised with turn of events and then its not. It will be nice to see how Mary and Patrick's foundation are going to change lives in Butler and other places. I suspect something is going to happen for the L twins so not mentioned for now neither Grayson's siblings was mentioned and there are weddings to be had and more children to be born (hint for Marie). Can't wait for anything from Green Mtn. or Gansett Island. For now I can satisfy that hunger rereading both series from beginning to end several more times waiting for new additions like Wade and Mia. Does Grayson know how to ski? Hope so for Simones good. Maybe Cam will learn to ski or maybe Fred. Maybe Patrick will do something in Butler at least a hotel, resort or B&B. What about Max? Older Hannah? Even Chloe? Noah? Could Nashville make VT connection? Or TX? Just thinking.
