I installed all the latest drivers direct from Canon rather than use the included CD, they are always out of date by the time you buy one.
Where I used to see my inks drop almost in real time after a few prints with my previous printers this one has hardly moved. Much larger tanks and at the same or cheaper than the smaller ones for cheaper printers, I think this is the trade off and how they recoup their money from the cheaper ones.
I went for their top model of the Maxify range, one being the better print usage that their 2600 inks provide and the overall speed and tray management, it's worth the extra few dollars.
Highly recommend it.
Also, it is remarkably easy to use, and the wireless connection is fast and efficient.
The print/ scan/ copy app is straightforward.
Setting up the machine out of the box is relatively easy, and it doesn’t take a long time.
On the whole, this is an excellent value for money machine for a home office or small office.
The setup is very easy once you figure out that you can swipe the digital display to a screen containing the LAN settings and from there the Wireless LAN Setup (unfortunately that important detail is missing from the install instructions).
I highly recommend it for small office / home use.
However, I gave it one last try before I returned it and pulled out the Fax Cable. That made it work! Dumb though, as I did get this model so I can use the Fax which is very, very occasionally. The Scanner is very good and what I really like is the single pass double sided scan, that is fab! BUT unlike with previous versions of the Canon Scanning software, what you cannot do is scan a bunch of pages and then save them into individual docs, so the fast scan is a bit of a waste of time. There is no way to retro the software into earlier Canon versions either.
So, all in all, quite a disappointment compared to my Pixma MX870 I had before. I think next time I need an All In One I will probably take Epson more seriously. Shame, Canon had such a good reputation, clearly they have gone beyond their Sell By Date.
