Once again murder was keeping Rosie Hart, baker extraordinaire and reluctant amateur sleuth, busy. The elderly Percival sisters who owned and ran The Sweet Treat, a store Rosie supplied with some of her own sweet treats, had had a long lost nephew turn up and while they were delighted to see him, they weren’t delighted at what he was doing to their home. When he turned up dead out the back of their home, the sisters were the immediate suspects.
Rosie knew they were innocent – as she investigated; much against the sheriff’s wishes once again, she discovered there were many secrets in the small town, and these were secrets people were at pains to keep. With Rosie’s boyfriend Jonah begging her to take care, and the sheriff on at her to keep out of it, Rosie wasn’t sure what to do. But was she too late to change her mind about investigating?
Candy Coated Conspiracy by Aussie author Kaz Delaney is the 3rd in the Rosie Hart Cosy Mystery series, and I quite enjoyed it. Rosie seemed a bit over the top in her endeavours this time, putting herself in danger continually. Set in the small town of Airlie Falls, Texas, I’m looking forward to book 4, hopefully not in the too distant future. Recommended.
