I don't think I even read the synopsis for this one, I just went "Ooooo Melissa Foster, yes please!" - and so as I started reading and the baby got dropped on the scene, I was like oh hell no. I should've known not to doubt Melissa though, because this book was amazing. As evidenced by the fact that I devoured it so fast.
I loved both Ben and Auriela in this one, and best friends to lovers is one of my fave romance tropes, so that played in perfectly for me. I adored Bea, and I loved all the family and friends we got as secondary characters. This is written so that there is no angst, plenty of communication (apart from the very start of the book) and lots of love and laughter going around.
There were a couple of loops that threw me at the end, but they were written well, and made me emotional too. The perfect mix of everything in this story, that made me feel things I didn't expect.
With two strong and fantastic main characters, and a supporting cast just as fabulous, this one is sure to be a hit with readers. I highly recommend it, and can't wait for more from this new series!
Obviously I love Melissa Foster's writing and her characters are all really easy to fall in love with. But damn I am a sucker for a secret baby and this baby was so secret Ben never even saw her coming. Aurelia however took to her so immediately which just made me love her even harder.
Ben pissed me off as much as I liked him. On one hand once he decided to move his relationship with Aurelia out of the friend zone there was no doubting his feelings. And I loved that he showed her how much he had always wanted her through their shared history. But on the other hand WTF Ben? It took you forever to make a move and you were far from celibate in that time.
So while I loved the storyline and characters and got the amazing secondary characters I expected I just didn't get quite enough to push it to a 5 star read. But I have high hopes for Remi's story, I just have to pay better attention to my stalking.
Throw in a sexy, new DILF and an adorable bub and I was hooked.
Now, our Ben did pee me off a bit at the start with the way he talked about the baby, but this might just be me, and it wasn't too long before that all changed and went all Papa Bear.
I loved Aurelia and Ben navigating their way to a new sort of relationship. The chemistry is strong in this pair, and as a reader I was left wondering what took them so dang long?
But for me, as much as I liked Ben and Aurelia, Call her Mine was all about baby - made this old duck want to find a baby to squish!
Great secondary characters rounded out this lovely story, and I couldn't help but smile as I was reading.
I look forward to more of this series.
Ben and Aurelia have been best friends since they were teenagers. They've both harboured other stronger feelings but never acted on them for fear of ruining their friendship. Everything changes when Ben finds himself with a newborn infant to care for. Relationships shift and futures are adjusted. I enjoyed the story overall I just didn't find myself totally connecting with the characters like I usually would in a small town romance.
This book was so sweet and romantic. It made me feel all mushy inside 🥰 It has everything I love about romance books
Ben and Aurelia, two best friends since they were kids discover a baby on Bens doorstep. Not knowing how to handle a baby they are scared and petrified. Not knowing if Ben was the father and figuring out who the mother of the baby was a mystery.
Ben and Aurelia both had feelings for each other for a while. Having parenthood thrust upon them opened them up to exploring their relationship and finally admitting that they have both loved each other for a while and were just filling a void.
Figuring out who the mother of baby B was a mystery this whole book until the end when it was finally revealed. Caroline - the waitress - left Bea on Ben's doorstep as she has an inoperable tumour and doesn't have long to live. She knew that Ben was in love with Aurelia and that leaving her baby girl with them would be the best thing, she would be loved and cared for.
This book has swoon worthy moments, a cute baby, romance, comedy and a HEA.
