Oh, how much I wish these books would still be in print!! I wish I would have bought all "Problem Solvers" books when I had the chance!!!
I cannot tell you how much these books saved my life; I wish I knew of their existence a long time ago, maybe I would've passed my class!!! I had to buy the Problem Solver Algebra and Trig last year, or the year before (back with it was in print) because I needed to catch up. I have not taken a math course in 10 years. Last time I was in college, I took precalculus in 2006, and now I registered for Calculus for Spring 2016 to finish my B.S. I needed to play catch up and refresh. Problem Solver Algebra and Trig, and Problem Solver Calculus SAVED MY LIFE!!!! PLEASE BRING THESE BOOKS BACK!
The main purpose of this book is to have you practice problems and review the proper steps you need to take in order to get it correct. Reading a math text book is a skill most people do not have; in textbooks, they do not explain enough how a problem is solved. Problem Solver holds your hand and shows you the do's and don't's of each problem. You do not study math, you practice it. This is why this book is so important. You will not find another one like it. It does not just plainly give you answers, it shows you how to get it for each and every single problem from cover to cover.
But I what I recommend it getting another book, that will explain definitions. You will need another book with words, that will explain the definition of derivatives, product quotient rule, etc. This book is only good for practice. If you're serious about passing your class, buy this book along with a book that has explanations.
5/5 stars for everything about this book, since it's amazing. BUY IT!
