It has a nice balance and is very comfortable. Mine is a bit smelly from the manufacturing process & being wrapped in plastic, but I expect that to pass soon enough. I use it at my desk chair to vary the angle of my wrist to reduce strain when WFH. Seems to be doing the trick!

I ordered my Corsair K63 with the lapboard combo to use for work as I wanted a wireless mechanical keyboard with MX Cherrys. The only competitor would be the logitech G613 and they use their own in-house keys which do not feel as nice.

A few notes after using this for more than a month.

1. Battery life could be better but if you turn off the LED's it is "decent".

2. Feedback and typing feel is not bad - satisfied with the MX Cherry REDS but probably would have preferred BLUES or BROWNS. It is unfortunate that these are not able to be hot swapped.

3. Also would have liked the ability to switch between multiple blue-tooth devices. You can only switch between WiFi adapter and blue-tooth.

4. If you wish to pair a new blue-tooth device, you will have to re-pair every time even if you have paired the device in the past. So you have to unpair from device 1, re-pair a new connection to device 2. Rinse and repeat everytime you wish to change device.

5.0 out of 5 stars THE solution for M+KB couch gaming

Crazy that they are no longer making this, as it's amazing. The whole thing just works. It's comfortable, steady, with enough room for maneuver and wide enough that it can rest on armrests if you are in a 1 seater. If not, it's very padded and comfortable on your knees. The only downside is the weight really (especially with the mechanical keyboard slotted in), which is a positive for stability, but makes grabbing and storing the thing harder/more delicate. But yeah, I've had mine for over a year, and I really hope it lasts cause I don't want to live without it now.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect couch and mobile gaming deck.

Wanted something comfortable and completely wireless. This checks the boxes as I've paired it with the K63 wireless keyboard and use a wireless gaming mouse.

The keyboard connects to laptop via USB and snaps in snug into the lapboard. Not much more to say there.

The mouse pad is a cloth top and a nice size. I've noticed some similar lapboards have a smaller sized pad and it's not as comfortable to use.

The lapboard itself is a nice size and hefty build quality, doesn't feel flimsy at all. The lap cushion on the bottom is comfortable and "firm" to be stable, but not hard to be painful. My only complaint would be that due to it being a solid board, it doesn't travel the best, since it doesn't break down smaller.

Overall, I very much enjoy it to use at home from the couch/recliner and while gaming from the hotel room or more.

5.0 out of 5 stars Mechanical keyboard newbie: beautiful color, comfortable design, pleasant to operate

This is my first mechanical keyboard, and I was looking to buy something reasonably priced for a trial run, but still sturdy, well-made, and good-looking. I wanted to get rid of the numpad without loosing anything else, so a TKL formfactor was the best choice for me. A backlight was also on the list of requirements, since I am on a keyboard more than 12 hours a day, and am quite fond of the darkness. I am also slightly visually impaired, so I was looking for something that I could dim a lot while retaining the ability to see what I was doing if necessary. In the pictures, you can see the "rain" preset with a 6% opacity. I am loving it. The ice blue led is also a big hit here.

I was concerned about the cherry red switches, since I like to keep noise at a minimum, but I listened to quite a few youtube videos (you need to hear the sound of a switch with a cap on to really understand what it will sound like), and realized that the "silent red" switch was not for me. I am glad I opted for the red one: I find my experience quite enjoyable! The keyboard is quite responsive and I actually like the sound the switches are making.

I can't comment much on the battery: it's been two days since the first charge and the gauge says "moyen" (I would prefer a number, but nothing is perfect), which is what I was expecting.

I use a KVM switch, and the proprietary software used to configure the keyboard is interfering with it, so I plugged a USB hub in the general purpose 2.0 USB port and put my two wireless receivers on it. So far so good!

5.0 out of 5 stars Study and comfortable to use Lapboard with cloth mousepad
Reviewed in Canada on 30 October 2020

This Lapboard is awesome for couch gaming from a laptop if you require keyboard/mouse control, like for Microsoft Flight Simulator. They keyboard responds well and key presses are expectedly solid. Backlight can be configured further with optional software.
It works with Xbox, but even though the console supports it, so far very few games actually allow native use of keyboard/mouse on the console.
My only recommendation is that Corsair create and sell a laptop cooling pad that could slip in the spot on the lapboard where they keyboard goes, for when I want to use my laptop from my couch directly. Currently I do so by putting a rolled towel in the spot where the keyboard usually goes, but a clip in laptop support/cooling fans would be great! Otherwise, I'll have to 3D print one soon..

5.0 out of 5 stars Corsair K63 vs Roccat Sova
Reviewed in the United States on 18 July 2020
Verified Purchase
The Corsair K63 + Lapboard and the Roccat Sova are the only two serious couch keyboards on the market. I own both, having first purchased the Roccat Sova and later the K63. Both keyboards sell for similar prices (the Sova comes in both a membrane and mechanical keyboard, and the mechanical is typically a bit more, but I got it on sale for less than the K63).

I ended up getting the K63 combo after spilling a glass of water on the Sova (tried to save it... the 6 and 0 keys are totally dead. All the other keys work, but the backlight went out on several). Initially I went with the Sova because I've always been an advocate for wired peripherals. I didn't want to deal with latency, connection issues, or having a keep a battery charged. I also liked that the Sova acted as a USB hub, where I could easily plug in my mouse and receiver for an Xbox controller.

For the most part, I was very happy with the Sova. Really, my only complaint was the wire, which turned out to be more of an inconvenience when I expected. I didn't want a giant keyboard sitting out in my living room all the time, and having to deal with the cable every time I put it away was a pain. I also really hate peripherals with breakaway cables. I understand their purpose, but I still don't like them. I was accidentally disconnecting it frequently.

After I damaged the Sova, I decided to put my skepticism aside and go the wireless route. I'm glad I did. I set up a powered USB dock to handle the keyboard, mouse, and controller receivers, and all three work fine with the dock tossed behind my entertainment stand. I've had no issues with disconnecting or lag. The unwired setup is so much easier, I just switch it off and slide it under the couch and it's out of the way without leaving a mess behind.

As a keyboard, both are fine. The mechanical Sova I don't believe uses cherry switches, but it uses switches meant to be comparable to reds. Both feel good, I could take either one. Likewise, the mousepad area on both is equally good. I do find Corsair's lapboard more comfortable though. It's entire base is padded, where as the Sova just has two padded strips in the front and back. The Sova was a little wobblier in my lap (which often meant it didn't lie as flat, which meant my mouse sliding off). I also like the rubberized wrist wrest on the Corsair better than the Sova's plastic.

The only complaint I have about the K63 is that it uses an internal battery. I would have much rather have been able to use rechargeable AAs. That way, if the battery ran out while I was using it, I could just swap in charged batteries and keep gaming. Internal battery means that when it dies I'm either tethered or done gaming. Likewise, like anything with a rechargeable battery, it means that when this battery starts wearing out, there is no option for me to replace it. This is a major downside, especially on a large peripheral like a keyboard where space could certainly have been made for a pair of AAs.

At the end of the day, I like the K63 and it's lack of wire better, but both keyboards are excellent if you understand their limitations. Make your choice based on if you want a wire or not, either way you get a solid product.
