Product Description

Butterfly can be read as a standalone. It is a dark romance and contains content some readers may find disturbing.

I once was Erin, fierce and strong,
But now she's gone, I don't belong.
He wants my heart, but it's not mine.
I've hidden it, and now can't find
The soul it once took solace in.
All that's left is pain and sin.
But still, my dark knight keeps me here.
To live in hate and dread and fear.
So what will happen once he knows,
The more he hurts me, the more I grow?
The faster I flourish in the dark,
The harder I fight to leave my mark.
When his mind swallows me whole,
When he finds my heart as black as coal,
Will he save me from his hell,
Or remind me just how hard I fell?
I once was Erin, fierce and strong.
Now this pitch black world is where I belong.
I've waved the girl I was goodbye.
Now I am his Butterfly...

*Butterfly is a DARK romance

Unfortunately, this book didn’t grab me. I can’t say I didn't like or dislike this book, it just didn’t do it for me. I was expecting a dark read and it wasn't as dark as I expected. It seemed to be lacking in its depth and I thought certain parts of the book needed more explanation, more expanding. I did find the characters rather annoying and irritating. In general it all seemed a little far-fetched and I just didn’t see how certain things that happened in the book would happen in real life. However, everyone has a different interpretation of a story and this is just mine.

It centres around two main characters, Erin and Cooper but not in the traditional sense. It isn't all love and romance. It's not quite dark but darker than most stories. Erin is a keen swimmer, fierce and strong willed, however she didn't bargain on meeting Cooper , who seems as equally fierce as her. However Cooper isn't all he seems to be and Erin finds out the hard way.

Generally I am quite a fan of this author’s stories but this book just didn't do it for me. It did not hold my interest, I didn’t have that desperate need to know what happened next.

This is only the second book by this author that I have read - the first one was when she collaborated with Dawn H Sidebottom on Binary Code which I loved.
This book is really well written and the story is OK, but I felt with the subject matter that it dealt with, that it could of been darker and explored so much more, which would have meant maybe going into more detail with the subject in matter and therefore it could have been more exciting, with more anticipation and much more depth.
I found it really hard to warm to the characters, I didn't gel with any of them and I have read some really evil books and loved the leads, even the bad boys, but I'm afraid not with this one.
Yes it is a mind f*** and a twisted read and I think the second half excelled the first but I guessed some of the plot and the twist towards the end.
I read it and enjoyed it to a certain extent but it was just not for me, but It certainly won't deter me reading this author again though and I look forward to reading some of her other work

Blimey! This Dark Romance from Rebecca Sherwin is intriguing, expertly written with engaging characters, and an amazing storyline. Erin and Cooper, both damaged with dark pasts and secrets. It's an explosive story that deals with some tough issues. The mentally ill, the evil, the saviour - you'll find them all weaved into a story that had me enthralled and needing, not wanting, needing to turn the page. I found a leakage in one eye towards the end, my heart was pounding at times. Highly recommended.

This is one of those stories that really sucks you and leaves you wanting more. I loved the getting to know the characters and the complicated personalities. This book is  dark, emotional and twisted but it is also beautiful and a great read.

2.0 out of 5 stars Missed the mark for me 1 February 2017

This one just didn't do it for me. I understand where the author was trying to go, but I just couldn't seem to get there.

The story is mostly about Erin, a once professional swimmer turned coach, who had to leave competition for reasons we don't find out about until late in the story (even though it is brought up ad nauseam to the point where you're just like ugh! freakin' tell me already! She's engaged to Griffin, but there's zero chemistry between them, and Erin is pretty meh about their relationship.

Enter Cooper--he's mysterious and sexy, and Erin has an immediate reaction to him that both scares her and thrills her. But wait! She's engaged... Eh, whatever, she'll just go with it and keep going to the pool in the middle of the night to see if she runs into him. She even steals his towel from the pool and has special time with her hand while lying in her bed next to her fiancé and smelling it.

This is where things get weird... you know, because the towel thing wasn't strange.

******************************SPOILER ALERT******************************

Cooper is crazy, and he kidnaps her. BUT, she has multiple chances to leave and doesn't because she's "in love with an ex-swimming secret agent with personality disorders." Yes, that sums up Cooper and the theme of this book nicely. Erin continues to make bad decisions and huge, ridiculous leaps of logic that make zero sense to anybody but her. For example, she sees a teddy bear on the floor and automatically assumes her captor has killed a child. What? Where does she get that? And speaking of captor, he can hold you captive and you would be in captivity, but you would never be in "captivation" which is throughout the book...

The twists that follow are bizarre and full of violence that I felt was only good for shock value. Griffin's later appearance made little to no sense, and I felt like the author was trying to make this elaborate, crazy twist, but all it did was have me scratching my head and thinking why?

Trying not to provide any spoils when writing this!!
This was a great read since I felt stumped for most of the beginning of the book since I couldn't guess as to why Erin was taken in the first place, so the need to know kept me proceeding though the book. I felt a lack of motive for Cooper since his reasoning for being the way he is, wan't brought to the forefront until later in the book. We know that he had a crappy childhood especially with his currents condition, and had endured some heinous stuff but unfortunately the book didn't delve into what made him tick so I didn't feel the passion behind his actions until later when I had that "oh, that's why" moment. I did enjoy the ending and how it brought things back full circle. I would have enjoyed this book better if I was able to see into more of Coopers years of growing up and his darker secrets.

2.0 out of 5 stars Dark/ok read 7 March 2017

The book was a really dark read. Even though the story was ok. base on the last page. If there's going to be another book with Doe in mind, I don't want to read it; I don't have the stomach for it. Brad and his brother smh nope. Erin parents was weird and shouldn't be parents and I didn't understand the point with Griffin at the end.

This was an interesting story. It had a lot of plot twists. The H was crazy, but he had a good heart underneath. The h was mistreated but she was a survivor. They found love in a twisted way.
