Until I bought this I have been using a variety of free iPhone apps - this is more convenient and I wouldn't want to rely on a phone again.
On the whole this is a good product. It's small and can easily be kept in your pocket if you don't want to clip it to your bag or trolley. As well as distance to middle of green (and front and back) it gives distances to hazards - although not necessarily every hazard.
I've only two criticisms. Firstly, when you switch it on it takes a good while to acquire satellites and to let you select a course - you'd need to start this well before you go on the first tee otherwise it may not be ready for you to use it until the 2nd! Secondly, battery life is poor - it really needs to be charged every time you use it as it will use at least 50% of its power over an 18 hole round. If you are going to play 36 holes in a day, it would need to be plugged in for a while between rounds.
Update - the battery life seemed to get worse and worse so I logged on to the manufacturer’s website and re-synced the gps. This does seem to have made a big difference with the unit showing 80% charge left after one (brisk!) round.
Further update - despite showing 80% charge after 2 round, battery died on the 13th hole on the next round. So no improvement and battery life nothing like that advertised.
