On the whole this is a good product. It's small and can easily be kept in your pocket if you don't want to clip it to your bag or trolley. As well as distance to middle of green (and front and back) it gives distances to hazards - although not necessarily every hazard.
I've only two criticisms. Firstly, when you switch it on it takes a good while to acquire satellites and to let you select a course - you'd need to start this well before you go on the first tee otherwise it may not be ready for you to use it until the 2nd! Secondly, battery life is poor - it really needs to be charged every time you use it as it will use at least 50% of its power over an 18 hole round. If you are going to play 36 holes in a day, it would need to be plugged in for a while between rounds.
Update - the battery life seemed to get worse and worse so I logged on to the manufacturer’s website and re-synced the gps. This does seem to have made a big difference with the unit showing 80% charge left after one (brisk!) round.
Further update - despite showing 80% charge after 2 round, battery died on the 13th hole on the next round. So no improvement and battery life nothing like that advertised.
Initial impression was that it was a nice little unit. Having used it out on the course I am pleased to say that the display is nice and large. Numerous options available, shot distance, bunkers, charge from metres to yards.
As yet I have not updated the unit so have not experienced any of the issues some other reviewers have had.
I guess my only constructive critism is that I am not sure that the belt hook will last very long. To see the distance etc when using the belt hook you have to take the unit off. I would like to see some sort of clip that could be used with a belt loop thereby being able to see the distance without taking the unit off. I have found that it does take some time to locate the satelites, perhaps it will be better in the summer, only time will tell.
I have not tried to use the unit without the belt hook so cannot comment if it works by just keeping it in your pocket.
Overall I would have no hesitation in recommending this product.
My key positive takeaway from using this tracker is how easy it is to use. Once on, you simply select your course and get started. I haven't been to a course yet that wasn't listed and have found the distances used to be accurate. The numbers on the device are very large and give all the distances you need, including all the hazards which work fantastic. You can very quickly see a good variety of distances and select your club taking no time at all. The device lasts a few rounds on a full battery charge and have had no issues with using this in bad weather.
The only negative with the device so far has been the time taken to find GPS in some locations. What I have started doing is turning the device on either when driving to the course or as soon as I arrive so it is ready when I get to the tee.
Highly recommend for anyone looking to take the first step into this market and keep their pace of play up.
"The NEO Ghost is not waterproof and for water to have penetrated the device to the point of water droplets inside the unit it must have got very wet. We do not repair these devices and water damage is not covered under the Bushnell warranty I am afraid. ''
The devise was in my Galvin Green waterproof pocket and I was playing in the rain - a normal scenario in the uk I think! - this devise is not fit for purpose - do not buy unless you are a fair weather golfer.
