Wow. Seriously wow. This book is flawless.
I love reading ARCs of up and coming authors, but it is refreshing to read a novel by an author who has worked hard at their art and who can deliver simple perfection. This is one of those books and Tara Sivec is one of those authors. Her Chocolate Lovers series was simply the funniest series of books I have ever read. This book surpasses those novels, not in humour, but in clarity and emotion. It was simply fabulous.

Finnley has spend the last 17 years, putting up with and forgiving her piece of s*** husband. But when one more act pushes her over the edge she makes the decision to take her life back and leaves him. On the first night officially being separated from the s***bag she bumps into the first man to ever break her heart. Collin, her high school boyfriend, who broke up with her in a letter passed on by his best friend DJ. Over the years she has thought of Colin, and even admits to a little cyber stalking him, but she always stayed loyal to Jordan, her husband. When they see each other for the first time in 17 years, the powerful connection that they once had is still there. But Finnlay is scared. She is scared to trust her feelings, she is scared to move on so quickly after Jordan and she is scared to finally face up to her dreams.
Collin admits that breaking up with Lee after DJ convinces him to, one night when they are drunk, is the single most stupid idea he has even made in his life. And watching her move on so quickly with Jordan was like salt it he wound. But he also has been keeping track of her via facebook, and when they serendipitously meet again he takes his chance to get her out of his system.

I think the title is appropriate in more ways than one. Yes she's been burnt in so many ways. There's always your first love & then there's another who captures your heart. The latter broke Finnleys numerous times. You can only take so much.
A chance meeting reunites a first love. Collin became a fireman & comes to her rescue even saving her life. Well it is hot but not just from the fire. The analogies are well done. I liked it, even with all the drama.

4.0 out of 5 stars Promise you have a burning sensation after reading this... STD free! 19 January 2015

First let me state, I went into this book scared. Scared that I wasn't going to like it. And it's Tara, so I didn't want to not like this book. I was scared of not liking it because it was advertised as a steamy erotica, and I am not a fan of erotica. However, everyone's definition of erotica is different. So, I gave it a go...

This isn't a story about sex. So, that threw the idea of erotica right out the window. There were a small handful of erotic scenes, but that is about it. So, I will say if you don't like erotic scenes, meaning hot descriptive sex, then maybe this book isn't for you. I am not saying the book is full of it. These scenes are not all through the book, but they do exist.

Let me get right to the point. The one thing that bothered be, that stopped this from being a 5 star read for me is the character development. What do I mean by that? Collin's character was conflicting to me. Usually, when there is a "nice guy" such as Collin, he can go two ways. The first being he is sweet in both public and private situations. The second being he can be a freak in private situations. When the "sweet guy" turns naughty in private, you usually see it coming. There are usually clues to show that he has a bad boy side lurking in there somewhere. I didn't get that with Collin. His outward persona and his bedroom persona did not fit at all. It was like they were two separate characters. I felt a huge disconnect with his character because of this.

With that aside, this book is one of those books that you want to cherish. You have the old-flame scenario. They never fully got over one another. They come back together years later and pick up where they once were.... but it's not that simple. Is it ever that simple?

Take the love story of Collin and Finnley, throw in an obsessive nut-job ex-husband, and you have an explosive plot. There is stalking. There is violence. But at the same time, there is love and adoration. Your mind, heart and emotions will be all over the place throughout this book.

I will be honest with you, the sadistic side of me didn't want any form of HEA with this one. I don't know why. Maybe I am sicker in the head than I think I am. For me, this is one of those books where I wanted to be left cussing and yelling.... Yeah, I think I am too much of a masochist.

While this book isn't for everyone, but no book is. This book is for many. If you are looking for an emotional rollercaster, it's for you. If you are looking for a love story that may gut you but leave you satisfied and sated, then it's for you. If you are looking a little bit of a twisted plot than the usual, then this book is for you. If you are looking for some hot and steamy sex, this may be the book for you.

It has been a while since a book has affected me to this extent. Burned by Tara Sivec has me shaking because I became that emotionally involved with the characters in this book. I laughed, I cried, I may have locked myself in a room so I wouldn’t be disturbed (though I will not confirm that).

I purchased this book last weekend when Ms. Sivec posted that 25% of all sales of Burned during that weekend were to be donated to the National Fallen Fire Fighter Foundation. That’s all I needed to hear. My dad is a fallen firefighter, who died in the line of duty twenty years ago. I knew that this book might be difficult for me to read because as much as I love a hot fireman, I still have that loss associated with the fire service.

Burned actually hadn’t been on my radar until a friend posted on her fan page (Thank you Danielle). I one-clicked that sucker and had the chance to start reading this morning. I will say this. This is a book that you will want to keep reading, just to see what is going to happen. There is this element of suspense woven throughout the story.

The love story in Burned is the perfect second chance romance. Finnley and Collin dated seventeen years ago, while they were in high school – before he broke up with her. Finnley moved on, got married, but never forgot about Collin. Collin became a very sexy firefighter. We follow their reunion after a seventeen year separation and it’s nothing short of scorching, pun intended. I’m actually not going to give you any spoilers because this is a book you need to feel as you read. You need to feel the suspense, the lust, the sex, and the love as it happens. Oh, and the phone sex…OMG that was HOT!

I will tell you one thing, after crying I was happy to find that it has my favorite kind of ending. That’s all I will say. Don’t miss out on Finnley and Collin’s love story. Heck, just don’t miss out on Collin. He’s definitely my new favorite BBF.

Tara Sivec does it again!!! Finnley is a creative, smart and sexy woman who, after 17 years of being with her husband, is finally getting what she deserves. She's filed for separation from her lying, drunk, drug addict husband and is going after what she wants. And what she wants is a six foot plus, dark hair, blue eyed fire fighter named Collin, whom she dated for 2 years in high school before she dated Jordan, her husband. Collin is the epitome of a sexy fire fighter who is charming, funny and who loves with all his heart and always wondered about the one that got away until they find each other at the same bar one night - and its been a steamy relationship since then. There are many ups and downs but Tara Sivec does them well. The story and characters were wonderful and were well written. The sex was so hot that my heart is still recovering from it and I literally felt my heart breaking at one point and then felt it fix itself. She's just that good :)

Im never disappointed by a Tara Sivec book and I doubt I ever will be! She has a away with writing a story that can leave me laughing til I pee or aching so bad that I feel like my heart is splitting in 2.

Tara: Thanks for another great story with characters who I have grown to love.
Collin = swoon worthy man of my dreams ❤️❤️❤️
4.0 out of 5 stars Smoking hot 9 July 2014

A very different kind of book for Tara, but still really good. Smoking hot chemistry between Collin and Finley. This is a romance many can relate to - a woman who stays in an unhealthy marriage for way too long (Finnley). Finally she decides, enough is enough, and kicks her hubs (Jordan) out, for real this time. After a few months, she has a chance encounter with an old flame. This is a recurring theme in Sivec's books, but OK, it works.

What I kept wondering was how does someone as hot as Collin, a sexy fireman, stay single all these years - 17 years has passed since they've seen one another. Anyway... be that as it may. I was still compelled to turn the pages to see where this was going to lead and I wasn't disappointed with the ending. Suspenseful, heart stopping moments that I enjoyed. I won't spoil it - you need to check it out for yourself.

Another thing I liked was the "afterward" by Sivec where she talks about her research for this book and thanks the selfless duty of all firemen. Worth a look, if you've read other Sivec books you won't be disappointed.

Tara Sivec - another great book.

Seventeen years. It takes seventeen years for Finnley and Collin to come back together. The fact that Finnley put up with her husband Jordan's crap for that long is beyond a miracle to me. She deserves a metal. But fate has a way of course correcting situations, and brings back into her life her true soul mate - hot fireman Collin. He comes back into her life at just the right time. She already set the motion to dump that chump husband of hers before Collin even came into the picture.

Even though their breakup in high school was pretty lame on Collin's part, I feel that they needed that break to truly grow up and find themselves. Learn what they don't want in a relationship. Not saying they couldn't have made it work if they stayed together all that time. But that time apart made them appreciate what they have now and see how much they do belong together.
