Enhance your purchase
RCMP Sergeant Winston Windflower is at a crossroads as career opportunities intrude on his near-perfect life in the blustery paradise of Grand Bank, Newfoundland.
Just as the pandemic ends, the little oceanside communities are rocked by the murders of prominent figures, an RCMP Staff Sergeant in St. John’s and a minister in Grand Bank, and it’s implied that there are national security implications to at least one crime. There’s also a sinister new character hanging around doing the parish’s dirty work.
Windflower finds himself a primary investigator, balancing work, potential major changes, and life with a young family while seeking guidance from his ancestral teachings and dreams.
Are the crimes connected, and can Windflower and his team find the killer before they strike again? As the police work becomes more complicated and even dangerous, Sgt. Windflower finds time to enjoy his family, his friends and always some great food.
Come back to Grand Bank for another great adventure in Sgt. Windflower Mysteries.

So enjoyed reading this series
Sad that Sgt Windflower may be retiring
But, looking forward to Mike Martins next novel
There are two murders and a murderer on the loose. Can he really enjoy family time while more blood is been spilled? This is how the author complicates stuff for Windflower, and I think it is enjoyable. At some point, the story gets pleasantly uncomfortable. Overall, a nice crime story that kept me interested all along.
However, the novel is not just concerned with solving the homicides, but also with shedding light on the complex elements of a Sergeant's career up and downs portraying him as a human person with his own unique joys and problems. The centerpieces have been the Sergeant's original background's small features and rituals that kept him clean and connected to his roots and helped him seek significance in many things, such as symbolism in dreams.
A must-have book for every library. An engaging novel with well-balanced character development and a suspense story. A series with deeper tension because there is deeper stuff going on in the MC's private affairs.
This is a great continuation of the story of Windflower. I have read some of the series, but not all. With that being said, I did not feel lost or confused by what was taking place. The characters are well developed and the narrative moves along at a fast pace. I think that fans of mystery novels will enjoy this read and the amazing setting that it takes place in.
