I first read the first 6 or so issues of broken sky as a young teenager. Its how I fell inlove with reading again. Its taken me almost 20 years to find these books again. The writing is a bit clunky sometimes but overall the characters are filled with passion and the pace of the writing is consistent.
Great fantasy story - its kind of a YA book, but like some of Chris' other YA stories, its still a great read for older folks too! Nice to see where some of his Braided Path concepts came from too. Read it now!

Broken Sky is what happens. Originally it came out in the early 2000's, Broken Sky quickly gathered a cult following. Chris Wooding created something unique by mixing eastern and western tropes in a steampunk epic fantasy with memorable characters, interesting story, complex lore, and defined magic system. Occasionally the story gets a little descriptor happy, occasionally the story lags a bit, occasionally a punchline falls flat, but Broken Sky is still well worth a read.
