This story broke me, no it WREAKED me. I sobbed and sobbed reading this. It was like reading a love song with a million love stories rolled into one. Knight and Luna are like a magical fairytale romance that breaks your heart into a million pieces.
A gut- wrenching, heartbreaking, beautiful story that will shatter your heart and have you ugly cry so bad you will never recover. Leigh's words always move you but this, this story will move you to the moon and back and break you heart but still make you smile and feel with the characters.
Broken Knight rips EVERYTHING from you. The heartbreak, love, angst, fear, joy, anguish, love. ABSOLUTELY ALL OF IT! LJ Shen cranks it up to a new HIGH in this story with just the first few pages by the end I was shaking with the intensity of the words written on every page. My tears had tears I could barely see the words I was trying to read.
I had been waiting for this story for so long I was nervous about diving in but my god the wait was worth it I feel in love with Knight and Luna from the first page.
The connection betwern Knight and Luna is like no other they are so beauitful matched that without the other they are not whole. Nothing could ever be that simple so of course the angst between them just amps their story up. The trials that they go through to not only find each other but to find them selves leaves you gasping for air. This booked SLAYED me.
Broken Knight is the new standard for teenage angst, Knight is perfect all by himself and adding Luna to the mix was just brillant. Leigh had set the bar really high with this one. Through all the heartbreak and angst that wreaks you there is a sweetness that follows.
Everytime I read one of LJ Shen's book I fall more in love with her words they always cut me deep but Broken Knight hit an all time new level of no return I will never EVER recover from this book. This is a new favourite and the BEST BOOK OF 2019!
Wow. If there ever was a book that needed to be written, it is this one right here. I was team Vuna as soon as I knew there was a possibility of Luna getting getting with one of these guys, and I will repeat my words right now because Luna and Knight are fire!! They are everything.
This story was raw, it was real, it was absolutely BEEPING amazing! The love, the heartache, the angst, the emotions swirling in this book just make you feel, they made me feel everything. I am completely in awe of LJ Shen’s writing. I am speechless, I do not know what to even write here that will give you even the tiniest insight to how freaking amazing this book is. I am not even sure if this review makes sense or I am just babbling on incoherently.
I am still feeling this book, right into my soul. It is everything. Absolutely EVERYTHING. It is everything I never knew I needed. This book needed to be written. Luna and Knight’s story shows us that love is not perfect, no one is perfect, but these two beautiful, broken characters have a love for each other like no other. I laughed, I cried, oh boy did I cry. The angst.....I had to put my kindle down a few times and just breathe, I was breathless.
I could just talk to you all day about this book, but seriously, you need this book in your life. This book is just.........queue the tears again...I highly HIGHLY recommend picking up this book. 100 stars out of 5, and even that’s not enough... a million stars. I shall now wait patiently for Vaughn and his book.
One click this book. I’ve read all the previous books around Todos Santos, and enjoyed them all, but this book, This Book Wrecked Me. I cried! It’s a rare, rare thing for actual tears to run down my cheeks. Well done Ms Shen, go for a walk, stretch your legs, clear your mind, speak to your family, then please get back to your typewriter! For all those readers who have read her previous books, you know that you are in for a treat. For anyone who hasn’t, what are you waiting for? This book has it all, love, heartbreak, loss, & humour, the bonds of family and friendship are tested, and in the aftermath of inevitable loss, love still shines through. I absolutely loved this story. Can’t wait for more.
While this book is a complete standalone you’ll enjoy the full range of emotions more if you have at least read the Sinners Of Saint series.
I knew going in, this book would make me cry, being an avid follower of LJ Shen I had a fair idea of what that was going to be. But this book is on the longer side so I had no idea When that was going to be. I think because I knew an emotionally charged scene was coming I kinda numbed myself to the first half of the book- I mean Luna had to learn how to communicate her issues and emotions, not just continually brushing them aside, and then being hurt by their actions when she didn’t say stop, or I want you, or be with me. But then I could feel the emotion starting to rise, you could feel it building and then with just 1 word I broke down. 1 word was all it took. And it felt like chapters before I stopped.
I love how LJ Shen takes these seemingly perfect people and shows us all their flaws. These are the kinds of people we could find all over the world and Leigh shows us that we all have issues that we need to overcome.
I was sobbing while at work reading this, I was not expecting what I was reading at the time. It was a million love stories rolled into one. Knight and Luna have a fairy-tale romance that breaks your heart into a million pieces and puts it back together again. Broken Knight is everything you want to read. There is heartbreak, love, angst, fear, joy, anguish and love. LJ Shen has taken this up to a new level. A must-read.
I am torn with how to write this review as I adore L.J. SHen and her amazing series to date yet felt this was a little inconsistent with prior work - I’d almost recommend reading it as a stand alone to not feel frustrated... because the fact is LJ Shen creates real and complex characters like no other author I know.
Knight isn't a hallmark hero, he's dealing with his mother slowly dying... Luna isn't the perfect teen virgin heroine waiting for her Knight to swoop in a save her. She fights her own battles and she messes up too.
So I really wanted to like it but there were too many unnecessary dramas such as other men, other women, mummy issues, lack of communication, etc... that were too repetitive for me to enjoy Knight and Luna as a couple. It just lacked the joy you normally get as a pay off - it was all angst.
‘Broken Knight’ is a moving story about love, pain and hope... so while I got frustrated at times, the amazing writing of LJ Shen made it worth some of the minor nuisances...
OMG where do I start. I absolutely loved this story of Knight Cole and Luna Rexroth. It was amazing, it had me from the first page and I couldn't put it down. I loved Knight, loved his humor and destructive behaviour, his love for Luna and Rosie had me in tears and I mean lots and lots of tears. Tears of utter sadness and of the sweetest joy for their happy ever after. I loved the audio of this book, the narrators did an amazing job, bring the characters to life. What an absolutely amazing story, L.J. Shen, you are truly an amazing Author who can bring these characters to life and have us care for them so deeply. I can't wait to read Vaughan's story next as Vicious is my favourite of the hot holes.
This story isn’t only about Knight and Luna (although they’re amazingly written and perfectly flawed characters that overcome so much to be together). It’s Rosie’s story, Dean’s, Lev’s and even Dixie’s. Every side character and side story in this book make up a tragic love story that you just can’t put down. I promise there is a happy ending (mostly), but it absolutely breaks your heart and leaves you shattered. Everyone deserves a partner and a mum like Rosie. Read it. It’s worth the tears.
You must read this book, I started reading in the evening and kept going until 4am - I just could not stop. It helps if you have read the earlier books in the series as it deals with past characters. L J Shen is amazing, the depth to her characters and I was in tears near the end with what happened to one. I don't like giving spoilers so will just say this is a must read, we got to really understand Luna and Knight, their fears and hopes. I loved seeing how the kids have all grown and also what the original 4 are now doing. I can't wait for Vaughan's story. I will be reading this again and again.
This book was such an emotional ride in terms of sadness. There was no joy in this book until the last chapters. The story of Luna, a selective mute who hasn’t spoken since her birth Mother abandoned her at 2 years old. And Knight whose adoptive Mother is dying. Luna and Knight have been best friends since they were born but both are broken in some way. Really sad and emotionally draining story, not my normal genre and now I know why. Too difficult to enjoy and I really struggled to get to the end.
