It’s time to move on.
You’ve grieved enough.
I’m worried about you.

Estelle Noll has heard the same things repeatedly for the past two years. How can one put a timeline on recovery from total devastation? She lost the love of her life, child, and home in one day. Broken, depressed, and lost, she battles her way from the darkness and begins to piece together a new life. Xavier “Snake” Kolton is everything her husband wasn’t—tattooed, bold, dirty talking, and free-spirited. He makes her feel alive for the first time since the tragedy. Can the M.C. Vice President ever be more than a passing phase?

Xavier “Snake” Kolton knows what it feels like to lose. The Vice President of the Wild Ones MC has spent years dedicated to nothing but his brothers and their commitment to bettering the community. When the fragile, curly-haired blonde woman comes into his life, feelings long dormant to him awaken. Can this woman who’s lost more than anyone ever should handle his lifestyle. Should he even ask her to?

**** Broken But Breathing is Book Two in the Jinx Tattoo Series but is a STAND ALONE novel ****

4.0 out of 5 stars Broken But Breathing 28 March 2016

I enjoyed the story a great deal. Colt has a unique skill for folding children into her stories which make them even more enjoyable reads. I loved that Xavier and Estelle found each other as they were healing from individual tragedies in their lives. They forged a strong friendship even before looking to one another for physical comfort. Yet, when the physical happened it was quite sweet and very sexy. The story would have been a solid four stars but there were more than a few editing issues in the story. These minor issues didn't ruin the story for me; however, it would have been a much more seamless read had they not been present. Editing aside, Broken but Breathing is a story that I would recommend to other readers.
4.0 out of 5 stars Good Quick Read 2 April 2016

This a good story of love and loss. Like another reviewer mentioned, I love how Colt adds children to her stories. They add an innocence to Colt's stories, which have dark undertones. I love the slow build up between Snake and Es. The connection was instant and strong, but they took time to explore it instead of diving in. My only complaint is the story needs more editing in formatting and misspelled/repeated words.

Shyla Colt has done it again. One of the best romances I've read this year.
5.0 out of 5 stars Breathtaking!! 29 March 2016

Broken but Breathing was an emotional ride of epic proportions. We meet the Estelle as her life is decimated by a tornado and she wakes to unimaginable pain. She has to come to grips with devastating loss and somehow put her world back together. We meet Snake as he tries to come to terms with the crippling loss of his wife and child to a senseless act of racism and violence. He struggled with life and alcohol until the MC saves him.

While trying to live again, Es joins a grief group and meets Snake. Snake becomes her support and thus begins the most unlikely of friendships and the road to redemption of life. I found myself crying, laughing, cursing and screaming as I read their story. And in the midst of all the emotional ups and downs I cheered for these two wounded but loving people. Shyla Colt has done a remarkable and outstanding job with this story and one that is worth every penny.
5.0 out of 5 stars Light out of the Darkness 4 April 2016

What an emotional book this was. Be warned this is about losing it all and attempting to come back to the living. Estelle and snake have seen darkness first hand and meet one another and find that there quite possibly could be light in their lives once again.
Estelle lost the love of her life, her unborn child and home and has been living in the darkness. Snake lost his wife and daughter to a murder and he too is in darkness. The two meet at a grief group meeting. The moments these two have where they think they might be able to live again are so touching. I had so many OMG moments and loved this book so much. I used many a tissue and loved seeing Enzo again in this book.
