The world-building is even more sublime than book 1. The plot flings you from one group to the next, each peppered with their own language, lives and rituals.
Survival in this post-apocalyptic world comes at a cost. The decay that began in Book 1 has grown as real cracks appear in the architecture, governance and biology.
I was quietly cursing as the pages to the end dwindled, hoping I could resist Book 3. Nope, I need to read The Ruined Land to see who survives - and at what cost.
More powerful writing from Rhoden. An excellent read.
