My tears have just stopped, I am sitting here with a pile of tissues, still sniffling. Where to start, I loved this story Katie (Bright Side) you can't help but love her, wish you could be more like her she is a smart, beautiful, woman so full of life and love.
Every now and then you come across a story that is written with such depth and soul it feels very real. The friendship and love between Katie and Gus was heart warming we all need a best friend like him. This is the first ,book I have read by Kim Holden and will not be my last congratulations on being able to write a story with so much feeling that mkes the reader feel every emotion . This is a must read. If you could rate this book more than 5 stars I would

I loved this book. It was a great reminder of the importance of being loving, kind & positive no matter what life throws at you....not just for your own happiness but for those around you.
The main character was so easy to love as were the others.
I read some reviews on another site & there were a handful who said it was a little slow & boring at the start & they weren’t touched by the story but I’m with the majority who were. The first half of the story showed you who the characters were.
Anyway, I loved it. It makes me want to be more positive & appreciative of the good things & great people in my life & not focus & dwell on the not so great stuff. 5 stars from me.

I have just finished this amazing book in a day and half!
Dude!!!... My heart is so full at the moment of love and sadness! This was the most amazing read I've had in a white. The story was breathtakingly beautiful and heartbreakingly perfect. I've only cried over 2 books in my life but this book WOW I was a sobbing mess! I'm still reeling about reading this book, I can't get over it! Just thinking about it I cry! It was down right just amazing and Kim Holden has just became one of my top favourite authors! I can't wait for the next book in this series 'Gus'. I have no doubt it will be just as amazing as this one, dude!
Kim, you have captured such a beautiful story and characters. I loved every single one of them and found myself wanting to live my life just like Kate does. Now thats a good author. You are AMAZING!!

Wher do I start. I want to be Bright Side, simply but I want to Do Epic. It's what she is the bright side to everything and everyone she comes across. I wished this book was a movie and I would paid the arse out of anything to see it.
I cried my eyes out, while my daughter was lying next to me and even cried when my husband got home from work and had to tell him the reason why.
My review wont do this book the justice it deserves because words have failed me. I'm still trying to get over the emotions I felt after reading it.
I loved every word, very inspiring, heart felt and made think how life should be lived.
We should all Be Epic. Live life as if it was our last.

Oh man, where do i start.......how do i even express what i'm feeling after reading this book?.....Major book-hangover, and i have puffy scratchy eyes this morning.

When i was reading reviews about this book and i read that people were "sobbing" and "crying uncontrollably" etc i thought to myself, "pfft....really? That's a bit lame....who SOBS over a book??". Well......let me confess.....that yes, i sobbed uncontrollably, tears streaming down my face, nose drooling, chest heaving, absolutely balled my effing eyes out for the last 5% of this book!!!!

This book is heaven and hell all wrapped up into one amazing, beautiful, compelling story.

At first, i thought the book was progressing incredibly slowly......i was enjoying the read but i was wondering when it was going to get to 'the good stuff'. Then i realised that this is more than i expected.....these characters had heart, soul, history, dreams, and the story that was unfolding was...in a word.....EPIC! In retrospect, this entire book IS the good stuff!!!

Please don't read all these reviews and be discouraged from reading this book because it will make you cry and you think it might be too sad......yes, it is those things, but it is also something much, much more. This is an incredible book. Yes, it will make you cry, but it will also make your think and feel, way beyond turning of the last page.

I'm going to have to start a new Collection folder on my Kindle, just for this book....one that is simply called "Epic".

I had read a review and thought this book may reduce me to tears! I was wrong - it reduced me to sobs! Luckily I thought ahead and saved the book for an evening when I didn't have to work the next day! If crying was an Olympic sport I would have won Gold! I knew I was going to cry but as I was reading I must admit to thinking - when? For me the book did drag a little but the end was really moving so this made up for it. The relationship between Kate & Gus was interesting and I got the connection but between Kate & Keller - not so much. Their connection seemed distant and I was surprised she embarked on a new relationship at that stage of her life. I always look for a 'happy ever after' and as this book didn't have one I was disappointed but now I look on it as part 1 and there will be HEA's in subsequent books. A good read if a little slow but the ending was so emotional and moving that I enjoyed it. Good writing and I found myself still getting teary the next day when I thought about the story.

Let me give you an update to reading Bright Side: I've just finished reading it, and I'm a mess. I couldn't get through the end of it without my eyes producing tears and blurriness seeping through. This book is incredible.

Sure, it tears your heart out of your chest makes you cry like a baby, but Kate's message, Kate herself is such an inspiration. She's the perfect embodiment of what we need to to do every day: live in the moment. That life is incredibly precious and we need to make every minute count. How precious love is and how wonderful life can be if we lived in positivity and sunshine and rainbows and unicorns.

As much as this story broke my heart, it was freaking beautiful. The message so poignant you can't ignore it. The love, the friendship, family. It's all in this book, and although you can guess what might happen at the end, it still hits you in an extremely powerful way.

"Remember me and be happy."

And in the end, you still want to smile, because that's what Kate does - her heart makes you smile. Kate was such a beautiful spirit and you could not help but get all caught up in it. I fell in love with Kate's personality at the very first page, but towards the end, I fell in love with her heart, her spirit. She is definitely one-of-a-kind.

I want to thank this author for bringing this book into the world. Not for breaking my heart, but for giving us Kate's love and positivity to the world, and her no-sh** attitude was definitely a bonus.

This book is not your typical romance, it doesn't end the way you want it to, but it will consume you and you will fall in love with everybody in the book, not just Kate. I am so glad that I took the leap of faith to read this - it's now taken place as my #1 read ever!

It's an intense read, with a lot of emotions throughout, but trust me, it's worth the read!

This is the most emotional book i have ever read.
The writing is beyond perfection.

Kim Holden thought nobody would want to read her book upon writing it. How unbelievable is this thought and her humility!

Kate is who i only really cared about, albeit not at first though as she came across quite irritating during the first part of the book. Until the truths are unveiled you then really come to understand why she is who she is.

Kate is a beautiful soul.

I didn't care at all for Keller because of his neediness and also for Gus because of his loudness but towards the very end i started to like Gus as i sympathised with how he dealt with things (no spoilers).

Keller i still didn't care for, Gus overtook him.

How Kim Holden brought to life the Concert Scene and the Studio Scene were absolutely breathtaking. The finest details and the emotion are phenomenal.
I 'saw' and 'felt' the interaction with Keller & Katie at the Concert. I 'heard' the singing as i 'watched' Katie dancing to the beat in the Studio.

I read a lot of books. Up to now I've never come across anything as real and touching as this.

Kim Holden is a genius.

"Today, my life is awesome."

This book is up there on my favourite reads of 2014, hell even up there on my favourite reads of ALL TIME! Yes it is seriously that good. This is a book that I couldn't put down, not for one measly second. Once I started I couldn't stop and once I had finished I was completely and utterly devastated. I was not ready for this book to end, I just wanted more.

The writing style is fluid, beautiful, emotional, captivating, gut wrenching, all encompassing, this book takes you over, heart, mind, body and soul. The heroines motto in this book is "DO EPIC" and Kim Holden has "DONE EPIC." This book is EPIC, do not be dissuaded by an innocuous cover, in fact this is a prime example of "never judge a book by it's cover," what is inside this cover is exquisite and deserves to be read, to be devoured and to be inhaled. This book is like an emotional vortex, it sucks you in, drowns you in emotions and feels and doesn't let you free until the end. Have I said that this book is EPIC!! One more point on the cover though, once you have read the book you will appreciate it's symbolism, I can see why the author did it and I can appreciate it whole heartedly. Just please, if you have a few spare dollars/pounds, pick up this book, you will not regret it.

This is one emotional book, it is devastating but it is devastatingly perfect, but and this is a big but it is perfectly balanced with humour, wit an addictive storyline and some amazing characters. Not one character is superfluous to the story, they all have their part in bringing this story together.

Kate aka as Bright Side lives up to her nick name, she always looks on the bright side of life (cue Monty Python music). She has had a really crap upbringing but she has never let it get to her. She has made the most of the crap that life has dealt her and is one of these people that puts everybody first. She is intelligent and super talented but all her aspirations were put on hold when life dealt her a hand that forced her to put those dreams aside for the time being. Kate was a beautiful character inside and out, she was adorable, selfless, giving, trusting, infectious, you couldn't help but smile and be happy in her company. She had the knack of bringing the shyest person to life, her personality shone like the sun, everyone she touched felt her, she radiated, she really was Bright Side. Her saving grace in life has been her best friend and neighbour Gus.

"I can't let the bad consume me or it would eat me whole. The bad stays in the bad corner of my mind, I don't let it through the door to mingle with good, because the bad is a gddamn party pooper."

Gus was adorable, he was the epitome of the perfect best friend. These two loved each other unconditionally, the lines of friendship having been blurred once these two were firmly putting their best friends label first even though at times you knew, ideally in another world, another scenario that these two were meant to be together. They were more than best friends. Gus was a guitarist and singer in a band, Kate was his muse, they batted off each other, her being musically oriented as well meant that these two made beautiful music together. Kate was shy so she just remained in the back ground, but all she wanted in life was for Gus to succeed and she would push him all the way. Gus needed his best friend, he needed the push and she was always there for him, just like he was for her.

The story starts with Kate tackling one of her bucket list items, she always wanted to go to University, finally life had changed enough to make this possible and we see her start University life with a flourish. She picks her friends wisely, brings life, love and laughter to all she meets. This is where she meets Keller.

Keller was another lost soul, his own history already leaving its mark. Having never opened his heart up it is unsurprising that Kate manages to break down his walls and defences. Kate is reticent to jump into a relationship, preferring to keep to just friends but there is something about Keller, he makes her feel, he makes her want to push her reservations aside, he makes her take the leap. These two were truly beautiful together and Keller embraced her friendship with Gus...eventually.

"I didn't do anything. It was there all along, you just had to find it."

And that is all I can say about this book...if I say anymore it will give too much away and that would be a travesty. All I can say is please, please read this book, give this newbie author a chance. Let the emotion and feels take you away for those few hours, learn some life lessons, be inspired, you will laugh, you will cry, you will swoon, but most of all you will feel. This is one book that has left its indelible mark on my heart, a book that I will champion from now on. Only a few books have made that impact and I am glad to add another to that list.

Wow. Well, as you know, I read a lot of books. But this has to be one of the most emotional books I've EVER read.

I read this book as a recommendation from a friend, and I'm so glad I did.

This book has absolutely blown my mind and has made me feel as strongly about fictional characters as I do my real life friends.

It is completely inspiring and makes me want to take on board, some of the strength and positivity that was in the story.

I can't recommend it highly enough.

There are books that by reputation, terrify readers. Especially books that threaten ugly tears. Books that have broken me and left me a complete mess. Bright Side completely surpassed any of those and I spent the last 25% in tears. Not delicate pretty tears but huge, ugly, snotty, sobs. My heart absolutely shattered. The story had changed me and will forever stay with me, especially as I am no stranger to the story subject and have seen it with my own eyes.

What the tears and heartbreak tell me is that the story touched me. That I connected with it and it made me feel, oh boy did it make me feel but it's those connection to books that make us as readers as passionate as we are. It's why we follow authors and why we keep buying books. The world isn't all sunshine and rainbows (not forgetting the unicorns) unless we chose to see it that way and not take life for granted. Like Bright Side's story it's real, it's honest and it's whatever you chose to make of it.

Like I said at the beginning there are books that are terrifying, it's usually those books that you pick up (after putting on your big girl panties) and get to a certain point and you realise that even if you wanted to you couldn't back out, you couldn't put the book down and walk away and there is no way you would leave it unfinished, the thought alone is unbearable. That's the point I got to and thought 'Yep no matter what happens from here on in I'm doomed' and settled in for what ever was to come.

Bright Side will completely steal your heart with its storyline but also with its characters. You I will laugh along with them, get angry with them and your heart will bleed for them. I wish I could say I had a favourite character but the truth is I loved them all and their amazing and unique relationships. From Kate to Stella, Clayton to Gus and Gracie to Keller, you will fall in love with them all for very different reasons. The way Kim has written Bright Side will completely engulf you. You will feel everything world she has put on the pages the book contains and it will be the most amazing emotional rollercoaster you will ever ride and probably the most real because you will feel as though it is happening to you with the way Kim draws you in.

My point is. Even if you are terrified of ugly cry books, this is a story that needs to be told and fallen in love with.
