The Oracle has automatic grinding, dosing, tamping and milk texturing, automating the two most difficult parts of manual espresso. You can extract espresso and texture milk simultaneously, enabling you to go from beans to latte in under a minute.
The 4 keys formula for third wave specialty coffee at home:
- Rich, full flavour
- Perfectly balanced taste
- Irresistible body
- Silky, velvety mouthfeel
The 4 keys formula for third wave specialty coffee at home.
1. Rich, full flavour
Full-bodied coffee with rich and complex flavours is created using the right dose of 19-22g of freshly ground beans. This dose allows the coffee to fully express the incredible aroma, intense flavours and distinctive character of the coffee, for a true cafe quality result. Anything less than the optimal dose results in a weak and watery taste experience.
2. Perfectly balanced taste
Sweet, delicious and nuanced flavour notes begin with precise control over water temperature. Digital temperature control (PID) technology precisely controls water temperature for a perfectly balanced coffee extraction, giving you the control and consistency for delicious tasting coffee every time.
3. Irresistible body
An opulent, creamy and caramel-coloured espresso starts with low pressure pre-infusion that soaks the grinds, allowing water to pass evenly through the coffee during the high pressure (9 bar) extraction process, delivered via our 15 bar Italian pump. This results in a rich, sweet and viscous espresso.
4. Silky, velvety mouthfeel
Savour the silky taste and velvety mouthfeel of true microfoam milk. The milk is steamed with pressure that creates thousands of tiny bubbles, enhancing flavour and mouthfeel, while the temperature brings out the milk’s sweetness, exciting your taste buds, for a harmonious blend of rich, sweet milk and syrupy, golden espresso.

Great machine so far. Purchased for around $1700. Auto milk texturing is amazing. Works better on larger amounts of milk. Probably the most liked feature. I can't understand why more brands don't use this type of system.
I like the way the machine sets in parts of the brewing process so that all you really need to focus on is the grind. Granted you can dive in and adjust settings but I've had great results just focusing on the grind and the volume of espresso made. With the double basket and about a 21 second shot time yielding around 40g of espresso for a single milk based beverage I'm happy with most respectable coffees I've run through it.
The only thing I question is the longevity of the machine..... We shall see
Need to clean unit after each coffee batch
Keeping coffee bean packs in freezer for best taste
In my research, I found that you need a decent grinder and an espresso machine (preferably dual boiler). There was the additional 'problem' of cleaning compared to nespresso. I found some grinders tend to cause more mess than others.
Enter Breville Oracle. It met all my criterias. It had a grinder built-in (hence taking less bench space), it tamps the ground coffee in the portafilter, it just needs to then be removed from the grinder head to espresso head. In parallel, it will steam the milk and also froth it (without having to hold it at an angle and playing with the swirl).
Let me be clear - it is more work compared to Nespresso. But if you have a mature (read snobby) taste now and are willing to put in the added work, the reward is more than worth it. Start to finish every morning before I go to work, Nespresso capuccino used to take 4-5 minutes. Now that I am used to the Oracle, it now takes me 8-10 minutes for a cappucino.
For me, the additional work was worth it. This is the most automatic a manual machine can get. A true all-in-one!
