Dual Boiler Espresso Machine Be your own barista and create great tasting coffee to rival the best café. The Dual Boiler™ is for the coffee connoisseur who prefers to control every step in the espresso process. You can extract espresso and texture milk simultaneously, allowing you to capture the delicate aromatics of the espresso in your coffee by having the espresso and milk ready at the same time. Precise Espresso Extraction - Dual Stainless steel boilers and heated group head, both regulated by our digital temperature control technology (PID), delivers water at precisely the right temperature, for consistent espresso quality, shot after shot. The Dual Boiler™ also features an Over Pressure Valve (OPV) which limits the maximum pressure throughout the extraction, helping to prevent bitter flavours in the shot. It also offers a true low pressure pre-infusion, which gradually increases the pressure to gently expand the grinds for an even extraction. A shot clock and pressure gauge to help you improve your barista skills. Micro-foam Milk - the steam wand, powered by the dedicated steam boiler, instantly delivers the pressure to create micro-foam texture similar to commercial machines. Smart Grinder™ Pro Automatically doses the same amount every time you grind. The very best taste will always come from using quality, freshly roasted coffee that's ground right before you extract. Always use a quality burr grinder, and grind right before you extract, just like the very best cafes. Breville's conical burr Smart Grinder™ Pro uses Dosing IQ technology to automatically adjust the dose whenever you change the grind. Choose between 'cups' for French press or Filter, and 'shots' for Espresso to get the right dose for your coffee's needs. You can even tweak for taste.

The ultimate machine for the at-home barista who demands precise control over every element when taking beans to their fullest potential
At the heart of this machine is its dual boiler heating system. So you can extract your shot at the right temperature, delivering optimal flavor, while simultaneously steaming your milk to cafe quality.
Special Features of the Dynamic Duo:
- Precise and Repeatable Extraction
- Micro-Foam Milk Texturing
- Flexible Shot Control
- Adjustable Dose Control Grinder
The Barista Choice
The Pros have spoken. When asked about the Dual Boiler, Australian Barista Champion Craig Simon deemed it 'Ridiculously good. 24.5 out of 25.'
Precise and Repeatable Extraction
Dual stainless steel boilers and heated group head controlled by digital temperature control (PID) brings water to precisely the right temperature (+/- 1⁰C) to extract maximum flavour potential, shot after shot.
Micro-Foam Milk Texturing
Steam wand, powered by a dedicated boiler, delivers micro-foam texture of commercial machines that enhances flavour and is essential for creating latté art.
Allows easy programming and a shot clock during the extraction.
Flexible Shot Control
Choose between one shot, two shots or manual control over how much espresso ends up in your cup for the perfect dose every time.
Adjustable Dose Control Grinder
The Smart Grinder Pro lets you grind directly into the portafilter, an airtight container, gold tone filter basket or paper filter. The choice is yours.

1.) The machine is basically a kettle with a pump. When you kick it off in the morning, particularly when it's cold, it can take a little while to heat up. If you work a regular start time you can set an alarm to make it warm as you wake, but it does take a moment to get used to.
2.) It's perfectly functional, but it is loud. My fiancé is a light sleeper and she wakes every time I grind or pull a coffee, that pump is LOUD.
3.) The double boiler for the steam wand takes a bit of time and it doesn't have a good indicator when it's ready. You just wait for the boiler to work, try the handle, wait about another 60 to 120 seconds, try again and you'll get steam out of it. Once it's ready it's perfect, but if you just want to wake up, pull a coffee and make a Latté you need to take the time into account.
With that said, compared to the oracle, you have 100% control of the grind, the volume, the tamp. You can then use the pressure gauge to tailor it. I usually have to pull 2 or 3 pucks before I can get the grind right on a new bag of coffee. But the coffee you will pull once you get it to tap that sweet spot on the pressure gauge is fantastic and better than anything you'll pull from a shop.
The machine build quality is great, looks like a professional system and the extra flexibility of the smart grinder made this the coffee machine for me. Breville often do promos so double check as you might get some freebies with your order.
1. The machine does not extract the right volume of water
* without coffee load, it pushes a full glass of water through.
* with coffee load compacted at 18+9 kg in the basket, it may not even extract a drop into the glass
* both buttons 1 and 2 equally extract same amount of water into the glass
The above is only "fixable" by the grinding settings , which practically does not give opportunity to experiment and achieve a constant 30ml shot within 30 seconds period.
2. Milk on the nozzle dries up almost instantly after frothing it and requires quite an effort to scrap it off after each use.
3. Takes about 5 minutes to heat up before can be used, not a big deal, but gets annoying when you want it
4. The coffee puсk gets stuck after each use - requires a little trick to get it right out.
on top of that, the gift pack arrived in 2.5 months after claiming and even then was missing a coffee pack in it.
For the money spent, honestly expected a better experience.
It took me about 3 hours to completely set up the machine and adjust it to initial settings. The Breville instructions where mostly very easy to use, but I did have to reread them several times during the setup to understand why things were done in a certain order. I do recommend that you have a small kitchen scale handy and weigh out a specific weight (19 Grams) of coffee beans and place them in the grinder hopper to remove variations in the tamping of the cake until you have the grind size adjusted properly. I am still weighing out the beans each day to keep brews at the same consistency rather than putting a cup of beans in the hopper and adjusting the grind time to give me the weight desired.
I had an initial problem getting the froth on the top of the milk correct, but with a couple of days of practice I was able to consistently get excellent froth on the milk and proper temperature of the milk. The trick is to keep the wand froth head just below the surface of the milk and don't put it too far below the surface. Make sure to wipe off the froth nozzle immediately after each use to cut down on buildup at that nozzle. Breville has included additional tools to help you keep the machine clean as part of the set and there is a convenient storage tray located in the base to keep them handy.
If you change coffee types you may have to adjust grind settings to work better with the different bean configuration. These changes are made pretty easily on the separate grinder via digital controls.
Beware that you do have a water filter in the water reservior tank that should be changed every 3 months. You will want to order some replacements to be on hand when your 3 months are up, as the worst thing for the boiler maintenance is allowing hard water scale to build up in the boiler mechanism. There are descaler tablets in the original package that will help keep the internals free of hard water mineral scale deposits, which make the boiler heating mechanism overheat and shorten it's life. Proper maintenance of the boiler is a big key to consistent coffee quality and longevity of the machine.
