Product Description

Meet the Maverick Billionaires―sexy, self-made men from the wrong side of town who survived hell together and now have everything they ever wanted. But when each Maverick falls head-over-heels for an incredible woman he never saw coming, he will soon find that true love is the only thing he ever really needed...

An exciting and emotional new contemporary romance series from New York Times and USA Today bestselling authors Bella Andre and Jennifer Skully!

Will Franconi has a dark past that he's kept a closely guarded secret―very few people have ever heard his real story and he plans to keep it that way. After surviving a hellish childhood, he's now living the dream life where everything he touches turns to gold. But something’s missing. He doesn't quite know what until a simple letter from a teenage boy brings Harper Newman into his life. A woman who just might fill up the empty places inside him...if only he could ever be worthy of her love.

When a man has more money than he could possibly spend in five lifetimes, Harper has to ask herself what Will Franconi could possibly want from a woman like her? She's learned the hard way that rich men always get what they want no matter the cost. If it was just herself she had to worry about, Harper would manage, but she's guardian to her younger brother who depends on her for everything. After nearly losing his life in a car crash, she's vowed never to let anyone hurt him ever again.

Still, sometimes Harper can't help but long to change her story from one of an always-cautious woman to an adventurous tale of a heroine who's wild and free...especially when Will's kisses and caresses make her utterly breathless. And as he begins to reveal his story to her, she discovers that he's so much more than just another wealthy, privileged man. He's kind and giving, and he fills up all the spaces inside of her heart that have been empty for so long. Together, can they rewrite their stories into a happily-ever-after that neither of them had previously thought was possible?

Bella Andre and Jennifer Skully team up to write an incredibly romantic and uplifting story. While It started a little slow - Will and Harper's romance grew on you big time. The introduction of the family and the dynamics of the Mavericks is a great side benefit.
Will, the self made billionaire with a heart of gold and very bad boy past, will use his charm to get what he wants, even when he doesn't feel he is deserving. Harper, the independent, smart care giver of her younger brother, Jeremy Who was in accident when he was younger so is brain damaged. This already gives the story so much more depth than many books I have read lately. Harper has spent the last six years keeping herself and her brother in an emotionally protected bubble. Fast cars and undeniable chemistry bring this trio together. A wonderful story about how you can try to do everything right, but it doesn't always mean it continues to be right.
I enjoyd it and look forward for the next book in the series.

Bella and Jennifer have created a beautiful story of a man who changes his life around and through his new beliefs and through his daily actions makes others aware of how they treat others. This story is emotionally charged in such a beautiful background of the main characters being not only Will and Harper but also through Harper's brother Jeremy. It flows so easily and made me go and research certain cars just to see what they looked like. Can't wait for Sebastian's story it sounds interesting.

Although I got started on romances pretty late in my reading life (I was already looking forward to Medicare when I got hooked!), I have read some good ones, with many of them being from our local authors. I think the 1st one I read was actually back in late 2011, when I read Past Midnight, by Jasmine Haynes. And that was not just a plain old romance; it was an erotic romance, which I had definitely not read before (I came across Jasmine and Shelley Bates signing their books at Barnes & Noble in the Pruneyard). Well, you may remember that I really enjoyed the love story (I swear I'm telling the truth!). In fact, here is what I wrote at the end of my review:

AUTHOR'S NOTE: I have been with my wife now for over 45 years. She is the most beautiful, smartest, talented person that I know. And, yet, I feel that I have not spent enough time showing her how great I think she is. Jasmine Haynes' book has made me more aware of letting my wife know what I feel. For that, I say a personal "Thank you."

So there. Now, along comes book 1 of a romance series featuring the Maverick Billionaires. Bella Andre and Jennifer Skully (aka Jasmine Haynes) have collaborated for the 1st time to bring us a series about 5 mid-30s men who have been friends since grade school. They mostly came from poor, rough childhoods and have made themselves into...well...billionaires. This 1st book is about Will Franconi, who has become rich by selling luxury goods for luxury prices. Almost by chance, Will meets Jeremy Newman, an 18-year old boy who had a very serious car accident when he was 7 and has never matured mentally past that age. And then there's Jeremy's older sister, Harper, who, in her late 20's, has already been taking care of Jeremy on her own for 6 years, since their parents were tragically killed in an accident.

You know, I've said many times that it's okay with me that we know up front the girl will get the guy, and vice versa. But even knowing that, I still appreciate a book that keeps me guessing, at least a little bit. And this book absolutely does that.

I really have a lot to say about Breathless in Love, but I don't want to lose you 1/2 or 2/3 of the way through. So I will try to be concise (yeah, right) with my analysis. Let me start by saying I just loved this book. I loved all of the relationships: Will with Jeremy, Will with Harper, Harper with Jeremy, Will with his 4 Maverick buddies, Will with his mom, Susan. Every connection felt real to me, and I truly connected with the 3 main characters. Maybe a little too much, if you catch my tear-soaked drift.

Speaking of crying, wow, did I cry a lot. There were the obvious tearfests - when Will treated Jeremy like a brother; when will did NOT treat Harper like a sister; when Harper and Jeremy were together. But here's the thing: There were a bunch of very poignant moments that were not just about the main characters. There were tons of scenes when Will showed kindness to people far below him on the food chain. There's one time in particular in a porcelain factory in London between Will and 5 factory workers that was one of the highlights of the entire book for me. Oh, yeah, I cried.

But this leads me to the most important message that I got out of this book. There's a reason I posted a quote from an earlier review. Just like I learned a valuable lesson from Past Midnight, so did I learn a valuable lesson from Breathless in Love: Just be nice to people. I try to do that, whether I'm with friends or as a customer in a retail situation. But you know what? I (and all of us) can do better. Treat everybody with the same respect that you expect from them. Money and status don't make one person better than the other. In fact, I just saw this on Facebook the other day (and had to share it) - Be the person your dog thinks you are. Does that sum it up or what? So, Bella and Jennifer, thank you for teaching me that lesson.

I'm going to stop here - for now (evidently I just couldn't be concise enough!). But I will be doing part 2 of this post in the next few days. Don't worry, it will be shorter. But I still have more to say. And you don't want to stifle my creative literary juices, do you? (Do you? It's not a rhetorical question.) Stay tuned.

4.0 out of 5 stars Fun, sexy, touching romance with speed! 19 January 2016

Will is not a typical alpha male, successful businessman. He was a road warrior with a secret shame from his past and a cruel father. Harper's parents were killed in a car accident. She takes full responsibility for herself and her brother, Jeremy, who is mentally challenged because of that accident. Her life is focused on taking care of and protecting him.

Will is a Maverick along with his 'brothers'. They're rebels in business and loyal to each other as well as Susan and Bob. Will's love of speed and racing cars draws in Jeremy and Harper. I loved that he was so accepting of Jeremy. It's not easy for her to find someone to love her and care for her brother. The racing scenes were fun. Harper and Jeremy were blossoming and falling for Will.

He reveals his secret shame to her as he bares himself emotionally and physically. And then the incident happens that rocks them to their core and drives them apart.

There are very sexy, hot scenes. The other Mavericks appear briefly (they'll get their own stories in the series).

I have read many books by both authors and enjoyed them, so I was curious what their collaboration would create. This is a solid start to the series of standalone romances, and I'm looking forward to the next one.

3.0 out of 5 stars It's good,but has room for improvement 21 July 2015

When two authors co-write a book, the flow either falls flat, becomes choppy, or in some rare cases.... flows flawlessly. In this case.... it fell a little flat with all the internal thought, felt choppy for the timeline, and introduced the second book in the epilogue that did not make sense to me.

I did appreciate the heartfelt sentiment to showing respect to every person, regardless of their personal limitations. I felt for the characters, but their feelings in the book were a little excessive. In which the feel of the book lacked substance, but was filled with fluff in the way of too much inner turmoil.

Don't get me wrong.... it was a good book, but it could have been better (and probably 100 pages shorter)....3-1/2 stars

4.0 out of 5 stars Great start to a new series! 24 June 2015

Another winner from the creative minds of Bella Andre and Jennifer Skully.
Will Franconi is one of Dan Francisco's mega wealthy. An importer, Will has amassed a collection of just about everything, but it is his collection of classic cars that he restored that brought Harper and Jeremy Newman into his life. Jeremy is into cars and wrote a letter asking to meet Will and see his collection. Thinking the letter was from a 7 year old child, Will agreed. When Jeremy arrives with his older sister Harper in tow, Will realizes that Jeremy isn't 7, but 17, but has the mind of a 7 year old due to a horrible accident he suffered as a child.
Now orphaned, Harper is the only relative Jeremy has, and because of her responsibility to her brother, Harper has denied herself the pleasure of everything. Until Will changes that.
Harper and Will start a hot and heavy romance, but Harper keeps holding back. Will is also withholding secrets. Their fears might break them, but if they let everything out, it might just bring them closer together.

I really enjoyed this book. My only complaint is that there were a few sentences that didn't make sense. It felt like one author tried to finish the others' thoughts, but missed the mark. Or rather, the point.
Otherwise, this was well written. A bit predictable, but unfortunately, most romance novels are.

4.0 out of 5 stars Lovely as always 15 June 2015

Bella Andre's book are always a good story with great characters. Five kids raised together since 8 years old, none of them blood brothers but brothers of the heart. They were able to turn their lives around, thanks to the goodness and love of their foster parents, Susan and Bob. They all became successful and rich, and all have issues arising from their broken childhood.

In this book, we have Will, who used to be a car thief, house robber, all under the abuse of his father. Even after his father was arrested and the foster parents took him in, he continued to be wild, until one day it ended, for reasons explained in the book.

When he meets Harper and her brother Jeremy, he felt an instant connection to her. Getting to know Jeremy and watching the love between brother and sister, filled some empty spaces within him and woke up an ache to belong.

I liked the plot and how the love grew between all three. Jeremy made the book sweet. The book was well written, and my only problem with it is that after reading so many of Ms Andre's book, I knew how this one would go. So it was enjoyable, but predictable too.
