Breaking the Cycle is the first book in the Rocking Racers Series and debut novel by Megan Lowe. It is a New Adult/Contemporary/Sports Romance- the main characters have an insta-love connection and their relationship develops very quickly. The story is witty, well written and erotic.
Bria Adams is a young, beautiful, independent and likeable P.R/ Journalism student who stopped by a local Diner for a quick bite to eat, but ended up getting a whole lot more that the great burger she’d had her heart set on.
Reed Ryan is a sexy, retired racer- who happens to be in the Diner with his 3 year old nephew, when Bria enters. His close-knit family haven’t had much luck in the relationship department, a ‘curse’ of sorts- the women they love always end up leaving. So Reed has learned to avoid love and the inevitable pain that will come with it. But, he is immediately taken with Bria- and so is his adorable nephew.
When an old rivalry causes trouble at the Diner, the incident brings Bria and Reed closer together. They end up spending an unforgettable night together. From there a relationship develops rather quickly and the Ryan family embrace Bria as one of their own, welcoming her into their fold.
But bitter rivalry and trouble seem to follow them and Reed is apprehensive that something will happen to Bria- he can’t stand the thought of losing her. Will things escalate to the point where someone loses their life? Can they break the ‘curse’ that seems to dog the Ryan family? Will they get their chance at love?
This is a very well written and polished story. I think Ms. Lowe has firmly secured her place within the literary community, with this great debut novel.
The characters are really well developed and likeable.

Breaking the Cycle is the first book in the Rocking Racers Series by Megan Lowe. Although it’s part of a series, this book does end with an epilogue, so you’re not left with a cliffhanger. It’s told in alternating point of view by the two main characters, Bria and Reed, but there are many characters with large roles in this book.

Each of the men in the Ryan family are insanely charming; especially, Reed. Between his playboy status with the women, love of racing motorbikes and his good looks, the women flock to him. However, the Ryan boys have a rule-they never get serious or attached to women anymore because they feel their family is cursed with tragedy when women are involved with them.

Bria Adams is a curvy brown eyed beauty who draws the attention of Reed. Between school and working to try to get by, she hasn’t really had much time to date. But, when she meets Reed, she throws caution to the wind despite his bad boy reputation and rumors.

They fall into love immediately. Reed calls her the game-changer.

“So quickly you’ve become my whole world.”

As they start to appear more in the spotlight at racing events with his family, it definitely doesn’t go unnoticed that Reed has a weak spot for a beautiful girl. And, when you have a local rivalry motorbike team, will that stir up some trouble?

Reed keep her safe and out of harm’s way now that he’s shown a weakness for a woman? Can she break the Ryan family’s misfortune when it comes to the ladies they love?

“I can’t lose her, and with our track record, if I were a betting man the odds wouldn’t be good for us. But, I can’t let her go; I won’t let her go.”

I recommend Breaking the Cycle if you like insta-love and sexy contemporary romances. I liked how there were many side characters who were actively involved in the whole story line. This is my first novel to read by Megan Lowe, but I’ll definitely read more

5.0 out of 5 stars A speedy love story for a racer and his girl! 9 March 2017

Breaking the Cycle by Megan Lowe is the first book in her Rocking Racers series. Written in first person, we see the story from both Bria and Reed’s POV, our lead couple in this addictive story. Even if you’re not a fan of the racing scene, you will love this story of love, family and friendship. Having finished the first book, I am now desperate to get stuck into the next!

The Ryans are known for their success on the race, but their love life has been anything but lucky. Determined not to suffer the same fate as her father and grandfather, Reed Ryan has always been determined not to fall in love. But when Bria Adams enters his life, she threatens to knock down every barrier and boundary he’s ever put in place. He doesn’t want to put her at risk, but Reed finds he can’t stay away from Bria. With a rival racing team threatening his family at very chance they get, as well as his family’s unlucky curse when it comes to women, Reed knows he must overcome his fears to protect the woman he’s come to love. Can Bria be the one to finally break the cycle the Ryan men are so fearful of?

Simply put, Breaking the Cycle is such an addictive read, and that’s why I’ve given it 5 Stars. I could not put it down and ended up reading it in one sitting. Isn’t that what we all want from a book? I’ll warn you, this is most definitely an insta-love story. It’s a rapid insta-love story at that, with our two protagonists falling in love almost immediately! I know this might put some people off and I’ll admit, this isn’t always my kind of read. But for Bria and Reed it just works. It feels so natural and I can’t imagine it being any other way. I think I would be more surprised if they hadn’t have fell so hard, so quickly. All of that initial happiness doesn’t mean nothing goes wrong for them. They have to deal with some serious issues in the story, some of which are really quite scary. Be prepared some tense moments and big shocks, but also for the heart-warming feeling this story will leave you with. I love each and every one of the Ryans and their extended family and cannot get enough of them. From the adorable Chris, fierce Grayson and cheeky Jax, Breaking the Cycle will have someone for everyone; unless you’re like me and adore them all!

I cannot say enough good things about this book. I love the plot, the characters and everything else it involves. If you’re in a book slump, love an insta-love story or are just in need of a satisfying read, Breaking the Cycle is for you. Thanks to the author for such a fun read; I can’t wait to start the next one!

Breaking the Cycle is the first book in the Rocking Racers and buckle up and hold on tight it is about to get good! For the longest time the Ryan family has lived under a dark cloud. They believe the women that get involved with them romantically will end in tragedy.
Bria Adams is a college student working at the local supermarket. It isn’t her dream job but for now it works until she graduates and has a degree. The town she lives in is mostly college students. Just like most college towns the girls like to dress in as little as possible hoping to get the attention of the towns hottest families of men. Bria knows who owns Wheels and just like all the girls she enjoys the scenery but she dresses in her uniform from her job and knows that no one will notice her. She likes to visit the local diner for their cheeseburgers and caramel shakes. Tonight, she is seated by one of the best-looking servers she has ever had the privilege of being greeted by. Then his uncle comes to the rescue.
Reed Ryan is one the family members that help during the dining rush at his brother’s diner, Wheels. The whole lot of them are gorgeous and playboys. They never get attached to one girl because of the family curse. With the family being in racing there is always a girl available. Reed is not wanting to settle down he likes the freedom of doing what he pleases but also knows there is an empty spot in his life, that is until he meets this beauty that has blessed their diner. When a rival racing team comes in and attacks the diner Bria saves the day. This is where Bria and Reed start their amazing relationship.
Bria’s has been best friends with Grayson and Roman since childhood. Roman has wrecked that relationship and now wants it all back. But will Bria and Grayson and Ryan Racing ever be able to forgive him?
This is one of the best books I have read in a while! Megan Lowe pulls you into her stories immediately from the start. I always love a happy ending, it feels good to go ahhhh when it is over. Then I’m reading for the second book.

Breaking the Cycle is the first book in the Rocking Racers series by Megan Lowe.

What a true delight it was to discover Megan Lowe and her work. She writes about Aussies!!! I loved how I knew what she was talking about and understood the slang. I felt so at home reading Breaking the Cycle.

I was instantly enamoured by Reed. Just the way he was, his personality and quirks just shone from the pages. He is what I picture when I try to imagine the perfect man for me. I have a passion for bike racing and am an obsessed fan of MotoGP, so Reed is just perfect to me. He had me laughing crazily from the very beginning to the very end. His whole family was amazing, and it was insta love that I felt for all the characters. It was just ridiculous how much I loved this motley group.

Bria was a star all on her own. She did not need Reed to shine, but them together was a thing of true beauty. I fell for her just as hard and as fast, as I did with Reed. The beginning was when it all happened for me, and they stole my heart. Bria was accepted into his family instantly and the transition was effortless. Their relationship is what every girl dreams of form the time a boy makes her little heart feel funny.

There was not a single moment that was not totally enthralling for me. Even the twists and turns in the story just added to the whole foundation of the tale, making a faultless story even more perfect. Everything about Breaking the Cycle appealed to me. This is the ultimate read. It had content I could relate to. It was just that special.

While one dramatic episode after another occurred, I reached the end, utterly exhausted. Breaking the Cycle was a one sitting read. There was no time to rest or deal with that little thing called daily life. I had to finish this book in one go.

Reed knew exactly what he wanted, from the moment he first saw Bria. He just had to fight against his instinct and go in guns blazing to claim her. He needed to give her time to catch up. There was no-one else for them once they found each other. There was no stopping the Reed/Bria train once it gained momentum, and despite the nail biting times, the dangerous times, and times of uncertainty, one thing remained intact and whole. Their unconditional love for one another was strong and could withstand the fiercest of storms. Nothing was too much or too hard. They would give the world, and more, for each other. All my wishes were granted when I found Megan Lowe and Breaking the Cycle. It is a book I will read over and over, and it will be like the first time, every time. I was effortlessly whisked into the fantasy, right along with the characters. Without a doubt, I would recommend Breaking the Cycle to anyone. It will appeal to all in some way or another. A top read that will continuously entertain and delight. I cannot wait for more of this series. A perfect, passionate 5 stars for Megan Lowe and her stellar story.
