Honestly, whilst I was as invested in the last few books of the series as I was the entire Cassie Palmer Universe, at times i found the pace of the books confusing and chaotic.
In Brave the Tempest I felt a focus to the storytelling that is reminiscent of the initial books in the series. I felt like Cassie (and myself as the reader) had moments to breathe and much needed conversations were allowed to be had.
I loved that our main characters were allowed the time to play out a scene before the next crazy life threatening adventure came to their doorstep.
While action and world building is certainly important, to me, it's the relationship building that keeps me invested in any story and I'm so glad they were given the time in this book. And even times when pivotal conversations were interrupted and i was so pleased that the author made a point to returning to those moments and rounding it off. There's nothing that irritates me more in a story then when the reader is left hanging on a plot point and it never comes back around (one small thing, I wish Cassie finally remember to talk to Pritkin about his mother which was hinted at but didn't end up happening).
It was a highly satisfying read and definitely dragged me out of a book slump. I am highly anticipating the next installment. So much so that I hopped straight onto Karen Chance's page to stalk info on when the next book release is.
Thank you for continuing the story.

Cassie Palmer, chief seer of the supernatural world, faces her biggest challenge yet-her own allies! Everything's on the line in the latest thrilling entry in the New York Times bestselling urban fantasy series. Cassie Palmer has been chief seer of the supernatural world for a little over four months. In that time, she's battled two gods, fallen in love with two men, and confronted the two sides of her own nature, both god and human. So it's not surprising that she currently finds herself facing two adversaries, although they have a single purpose: to wipe out the supernatural community's newest fighting force, leaving it vulnerable to enemies in this world and beyond. To prevent catastrophe, the vamps, mages, and demons will have to do the one thing they've never managed before and come together as allies. Cassie has the difficult task of keeping the uneasy coalition intact, and of persuading her own two opposing forces, a powerful mage with a secret and a master vampire with a growing obsession, to fight at her side. She just hopes they can do it without tearing each other apart. Contains mature themes.

For the past four months, Pythia Cassandra Palmer has been quite busy battling gods, falling in love with two men and confronted the two sides of her own nature, both god and human. So it’s not really surprising that she is now facing two adversaries with a single purpose – to wipe out the supernatural community’s newest fighting force. Cassie also has the difficult task of keeping the uneasy alliance between the vamps, mages and demons intact and persuading her own two opposing forces, a powerful mage and a master vampire to fight at her side without tearing each other apart.Cassie is being run ragged in this riveting and volatile new story. Fans of the Cassandra Palmer series love all the strong, dominant characters and all the explosive action and thrilling suspense and they’re definitely disappointed with one as continues in true Cassandra Palmer fashion and keeps readers’ hearts pounding and their eyes cemented to the pages. The non-stop, fast paced plot is full of suspense, excitement and emotionally gripping turmoil of personal issues, relationship issues, political issues and of course, the issues of all the two adversaries with plans to make the supernatural community vulnerable in this world and beyond. The Senate is planning an offensive but of course is plagued with mistrust and their own arrogance with the politics getting in the way, betrayals and enemies keep stirring up things up and testing Cassie’s endurance. While Cassie’s still questioning her relationship with Mircea and wondering what is happening between her and Pritkin. With all of this going on, is it any wonder that readers can’t possibly put this stunning, deliciously thrilling story down once they have begun.

A fantastic Series and fabulous new installment

Cassie’s life is chaotic and messy as usual in this 9th instalment of the series. It starts face paced and never lets up. This is without a doubt my favourite series, but this book had a slight edge on the last few. Cassie has new problems, and a few old ones she needs to wrap up, but this felt refreshing. Relationships have matured and changed and smaller characters are starting to get their own storylines. I’m hopeful that we have many more books to come as these characters are truly rounded and I’ve become attached to them.

Brave the tempest was amazing! Everything I could have wanted and more. The humour never lets you down and Cassie has just grown as a character and is getting good at standing on her own two feet.
Her interactions with Pritkin in this book were amazing even if I wanted more of them. The characters are all well rounded and never one dimensional which is a joy to read.
I love where this book has taken us and already I am desperate for the next one! I will be rereading the series to keep me going.
Thank you Karen Chance for giving this world to us! It’s an amazing world to get lost in and one of my favourite series that always keeps you on the edge of your seat! Extremely hard to put down and everyone should read these books!

This book has been such a joy to read. I am a huge fan of Karen Chance and her work and she has really outdone herself with Brave The Tempest. Where some ongoing series can go away from their original plots and start to dull their shine, I have never had that problem with the Cassie Palmer Series. Quite the opposite! The plot grows ever larger. Little hints you would never pick up in the first few books reveal themselves to be groundbreaking twists to a much larger storyline in the later books. This is book none of the series but I can tell I would be as excited to read the 18th book, it's that kind of world that you just have to visit and visit again.
I consumed this book quickly, wherever there was a spare moment between my chores. It is fast paced like the others and I found it difficult to find times to put it down to eat and sleep because I just wanted to keep reading.
Cassie, our main character, has really blossomed and matured. But she's still so human and relatable and I think that is one of the main things I love about the series.
I'm lying. The main things I love are Pritkin and Mircea. Their own lives and how they interact with Cassie has had a dramatic overturn for this book. It's fun, fresh and always leaves you wanting more. The things that happen to Cassie are unbelievable yet the book is written in a way that just makes you think "of course, it is Cassie afterall".
Returning characters from previous books get much more attention and my love for the wider Cassie world really grew with this book. Seeing sides of characters we know and love from sister series like the Dorina Basarab books (greatest stories ever) offer fascinating insight aswell.
So when in book 10 ready? Oh, December 2019. Not long 😃
