About the Author

Howard Eaton was seven years old when he was diagnosed with severe dyslexia. He dropped out of school in grade five and attended a private school for children with dyslexia, the Kildonan School. After learning to read, write, and spell, he went on to university to earn a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology at the University of British Columbia, and a master's degree in special education at Boston University. He has started five schools that help children and adults with learning disabilities.

Howard Eaton Ed.M. has worked in the fields of Learning Disabilities and Attention Disorders for the past 25 years as a teacher, educational assessor, principal, consultant, university instructor and author. He is the founder and director of three schools that focus on the cognitive functioning improvement of learning disorders (Learning Disabilities and/or ADHD) including the Eaton Arrowsmith School in Vancouver and Victoria (British Columbia, Canada), and Eaton Brain Improvement Centre in Vancouver. These schools focus on improving cognitive functioning of students through the Arrowsmith Program that is designed to strengthen areas of the brain responsible for reading, writing, mathematics, social perception, reasoning, visual-perceptual, visual-motor, speech, and attention. Eaton also co-founded Magnussen School, which focuses on developing an understanding of the emotional and neurodevelopmental profiles of students and matching these profiles with appropriate educational planning and goal setting.
