It's amazing how surprised I am every time I read an SE Jakes book, you'd think I'd be used to it by now, but no, it's awesome! Bound By Law is one of the most incredibly angsty, scorchingly hot, emotional reads I've done in a long time, bar just a few other books.
In this, the second of the series, we get to know Law and Styx and the incredibly hot Paulo well, intimately, and learn what makes them tick, what they've gone through with their families and fathers and how they've gotten where they are.
Paulo is slowly getting Law to trust him and get closer when Styx comes back into the picture - and then the fireworks really start. This book is so hot that I thought my Kindle was going to melt. How SE Jakes gets the dynamics that have to occur and the space and trust that has to be given in order for a triad to work right is amazing - she gets it down pat in this book and the result is brilliant.
The book unfolds at a good, steady pace, the rhythm just right and it never feels rushed or hokey or fake, she draws you in to their amazing relationship and you become one with them - the feels are off the scale good, especially since this book hits very close to home for me - Brava!
The ending? Let's just say that the last two chapters are way beyond good.
Now I have to finish the whole Men of Honor series before proceeding with my reading schedule. Don't you just hate it when that happens?
I enjoyed this one. I liked all the guys although Styx was the hardest to like, as he was the hardest to get to know and the plot with his father worked for me. I thought the resolution was well done. I enjoyed that while they were all attracted to each other, the central person at the start was Law and he was the one who pushed for them all to be together, but once altogether they cared and fought for the other two.
Boy oh Boy these Men of Honor keep getting hotter and hotter. In Bound by Law we get to meet Law who is Damon's partner and best friend. They have been through so much together and have fought to stay together no matter what and that is what they do. They run the club together and are there to protect each other but Law is a damaged man and he does not do relationships instead he chooses to do hook ups that are meaningless.
After everything that has happened to Law and Damon all Law wants to do is move on but how can he when his past is haunting his present and no matter what he does he can't forget his past and who was in it..... Styx. When the club attacks happened Law called Styx and tried to make his peace but someone else had something else in mind and now Styx will be coming for Law.
Law meet Paulo who was the Detective on the case of the club attacks and Paulo also had a secret he had been watching Law for a long time always trying to gather the courage to approach Law but he never did until the attacks started getting worse and he saved Law. After having one steamy night and I mean steamy night Paulo refuses to let go of Law because he is in love with Law and wants to take care of him.
Now Styx is back because his past is back to get him and they are determined to take out anyone close to him so he has come back for Law to protect him and unwittingly puts Law and Paulo in danger. So now the three of them are on the run and Styx and Paulo and Law will have to work together to keep each other safe. But is three a crowd or will Paulo give up Law to the one man he knows Law can't live without? Will Styx finally come home to Law or will he continue to run long after the danger is gone?
This was a very interesting book. There was so much to absorb, that it is almost addictive. It made me want to keep turning pages while supper burned on the stove. I have always loved a good drama/ romance and this was definitely that! I am not really a fan of ménage books, but wanted to read this after coming across the first book about Damon and Tanner. I was very surprised at how this book didn't read like usual ménage books. The balance. Of the three of them worked perfectly like a well oiled machine. It made it more exciting, more erotic, more everything.. The drama and intrigue of the plot kept totally in line with their relationship and where it was in terms of emotion and commitment level. I liked that all three of them brought something different to the table but none were more valuable in the storyline. In summary, it worked! The entire story fell together beautifully. I cannot wait to read more from SE Jakes!
3.75 stars. While book 2 had more substance than book 1, it's still more sex than fleshed out plot. But I have been skimming over my favorite parts over and over again. This book was very sexy.
If you remember from book 1. Law Connor "LC" was Damon's partner in the BDSM club Crave. In this book, they have sold the club and are working on starting a fresh. Detective Paulo McMannus is still trying to deal with this attraction to LC, but LC has maintained a distance due to unresolved feelings for his past lover that left him. Finally, now that LC is ready to move with Paulo, Styx, the former lover shows up. Past and Present colliding leaving LC reeling. He loves both men, but which one can he NOT live without? Both Paulo and Styx are unable to let him go, but someone has to sacrifice for LC's happiness, who is strong enough?
This is the book where the runners had to finally confront their past. All 3 men had to deal with whatever pain that chased them every night. Law's past was the most painful to me, but Styx and Paolo had some bad traumas as well. In the end, Paolo won me over as he was always the person who made the first concessions and ultimately began the healing process.
I really enjoyed this book but I wish the author would easy up a little on the sex and work more on character building
This book practically melted my kindle. The passion, lust & desire this trio felt was HOT. I loved the way this sequel tied up the loose ends from the first book but wasn't an excuse to squeeze more money from the reader. It was a complete & worthwhile read in & of itself. I read some reviews that have criticised this series as being not true gay romance as they have been written for women...so? It beats reading bodice-ripping Mills & Boon any freaking day. This kind of book creates a world where I can happily submerge myself without a qualm. It titillates. It entertains. It distracts me from the 9 children destroying my house. It was just what I needed.
I did enjoy this book I am enjoying the Men of Honor Series so getting more back story to Styx, Paulo and LC. Very suspenseful and thrilling. Cant wait to read the rest. This is the continuation of Paulo and Styx's and LC's stories from Bound By Honor, we also see Damon and Tanner again. Love those two. Styx and Damon LC aka Law grew up and were saved by Greg a gay man who rescued these lost boys. Styx had no memory of who who he was. Styx disappears for 10 years and Law is unable to move past the abandonment. His heart is shut off for these 10 years he finally meets Paulo a tattooed cop who is willing to take a chance with his heart and LC. Danger lurks in the darkness. Styx returns bringing trouble with him and an interest in both Law and Paulo. Three is never a crowd.. just hot hot hot.
Threesomes are generally not my favourite thing, but Law, Paolo and Styx feels natural together and they are equally damaged. I like that they feel just as good together as a throuple as they do in bed and since they are all military/law men they are familiar with violence and the darkness in people.
Loved this second installment of the Men of Honor series. We were introduced to LC and Paulo in Bound By Honor. Circumstances have thrown LC and Paulo together with the long lost first love of LC, the elusive Styxx. As they are on the run for their lives, the tension between the three is scorching hot. The sex scenes are enough to burn you up. Will they all survive? Will LC chose his current lover Paulo or his first love Styxx, or can he choose both? This is a must read book. Heck it's a must read series. SE Jakes is phenomenal. I have yet to read a book from her that I didn't love.
So...this is my first m/m menage book. I really liked it. I felt the characters were strong and well defined. They each had their own struggles and issues to face and things they needed to come to terms with. There were a few times with the writing...there were grammatical errors that would cause me to be like, what? and I'd have to reread the sentence, there weren't a whole lot, just a missing word here or there. The men were...HOTNESS...I mean Delta, cop, and CIA...tattoos-yum-tastic! The sex was hot and there was A LOT of it. Will read more from this author!
