Samantha Jacobey has written another winner. This fantastic sequel picks up right where book one left off. I loved book one and was really looking forward to reading book two. Ms. Jacobey didn’t disappoint me at all, quite the opposite. This book exceeded all of my expectations and left me more than ready for the next installment. If you have already read and enjoyed book one, then trust me this one is even better. You can just stop reading this review and go buy the book! If you haven’t read book one, although you could read it out of sequence and still enjoy it, I highly recommend reading the books in the order the author intended. In case you are still reading just stop and go buy the book(s). Still reading? Okay, here is what I previously posted about book one. "Riveting! This is a compelling story of abuse, rebirth, and emergence. The story carries you along teasing you with the promise of details. You eagerly push forward anxious to learn more. The author does not disappoint and you are gratified. When the story ends you are satisfied, but still want more. I’m keeping this review short because I’m in a hurry to start book 2!” Thanks for reading my review. I’m off to buy book three!

I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads.

Bound is book 2 in Samantha Jacobey's New Life series which will have 7 books in total. The books must be read in order as it is a continuation of Tori's story.

Book 2 takes off from where book 1 left off and we go with Tori to LA as she tries to live a "normal life". Less of this book is spent telling tales of the past although we are taken there several times.

This book was not quite as gripping as the first and at times I felt that story was a little rushed. Once again, Samantha packs a lot in to a story that is less than 200 pages.

I am totally taken in with Tori's story and we are shown both her weaknesses and strengths in Bound. A few questions we may have had are answered but many more remain and new ones raised.

I'm hooked on this series and will be starting book 3 next. If you like a challenging, engaging read, this I'd recommend Bound and the New Life series.

5.0 out of 5 stars The series only gets better 1 June 2014

Bound is the second book in the "A New Life Series" by Samantha Jacobey.

Tori has been sent to LA to pend six months in a half way house and to learn to live a normal life. Through out this book she recalls her life with the dragon and struggles to be with people.

You really feel for her as Tori try's to fit into a normal life, and through her mentors gain skills we take for granted

She still doesn't want to get close to people for she fears they will get hurt because of her.

Ghost from Tori's past come back to haunt her, and her fears for being found have come true. So what can she do? The only thing she can do is run....

Though Bound is not as dark and heart wrenching as book 1, you are still captivated by Tori's story and eagerly read on to see where it will all lead to.

Samantha Jacobey has been a mastermind to write this story, as managed to captivate interest throughout.

This is definitely a 5 star book and I look forward to reading the rest of the "A New Life" series.

5.0 out of 5 stars Found Family 9 April 2014
By Nocturnus - Published on
Format: Kindle Edition
This series must be read in order. The first book is Captive: Book 1 - Formerly Life of Recovery (A New Life). This is the second book. The third book is Entwined: Book 3 of A New Life Series.

Arriving in LA is daunting for Tori as she is leaving behind the only real friends she has ever made. She has been abused and used by everyone but them all her life and now she is being forced into a situation she does not know how to deal with at all without the only two people she has ever trusted in the whole world. She knows that she is an adult and has been for years (after all she spent 15+ years with The Dragons and her first memories of them were as a small child so she had to be at least 3 when they took her) but the FBI has labelled her 15 so there is nothing she can do about it.

This book is full of suspense and intrigue. There is a small bit if romance but mostly it's about a woman's coming of age as she finds her way in the law abiding world of jobs and responsibilities. Tori gains a surrogate family that means more to her than anything else ever could. She has many hard choices to make especially as her past mysteriously catches up with her... The little bit of action in this book ties both books together nicely and the cliffhanger ending leaves you clamoring for the next book NOW! I sure know I can't wait to read it :)

***This series is suitable for adult readers only due to graphic violence and abuse among other things :)

5.0 out of 5 stars Along for the Ride, Bumps and All 22 May 2015

Book Two of Tori's tale is a little easier to read, but only a little. Right away I will note that this is for ages 18+ for explicit violence and sexual situations. If you haven't read Captive, you really need to start at the beginning and work through this series one book at a time.

Tori has landed in LA for at least six months as the story begins. She is set up with a job at a music store. Her new boss, Terry, quickly becomes my favorite character in the series. Okay, so before I started reading the series the author mentioned my husband was a Terry in a conversation on Facebook, but that really doesn't factor in to my like of the character...he is just super cool and an all around good guy who is exactly what Tori needs in her life whether she is able to realize that yet or not.

Tori's struggle to overcome her past is not always easy to read, but it is fascinating and will keep you reading. I am sure anyone reading this review has already read the first book and knows her story is not pretty, but captivating in its horror. You can not help but root for this young lady to somehow overcome the adversity that is all she has known in life to this point.

Again, the execution is flawless. Samantha Jacobey has a true talent. I would guess that it would be extremely difficult for an author to pen a tale so dark, but she does in marvelously and manages to infuse hope into even the most brutal of scenes.

This is not a series for everyone, but if you can handle the violence and darkness I could not recommend it more highly. It is hard to say much without dipping into spoiler territory but there are some shockers revealed in unexpected places in this story. I have already loaded book three because of the expected cliffhanger - I went into this knowing it was a series of 7 books so that does not bother me in the slightest. I am definitely all in for this ride, over all the bumps in the road, because I can't help but root for our dark angel and can't imagine how Ms Jacobey is going to make it work but feel I HAVE to know the rest of the story.

I will also add a note encouraging all fans to check out the authors fan page and group on Facebook - she is a jem who is very friendly and involved with her fans. It definitely adds to the reading experience.
